The home is in a pleasant, residential area with pleasant well kept gardens with shrubs and nearby trees. The staff obviously care for their residents. They know my mother well and their care for her could not be better. Visitors have sufficient parking and are welcomed by the staff with tea or coffee, biscuits and cake. Meals are varied, well presented and tasty. My mother has a room with her own furniture and ornaments which she finds comfortable and a private bathroom. There is also a well-furnished lounge and conservatory and garden furniture. My mother is very happy living there.

My 96-year-old mother has been a resident of The Coombe House since May of this year. In August she developed a severe infection of shingles on her eye which resulted in a six-week stay in hospital. On discharge, my mother was barely weight bearing and had multiple skin tears on her legs as well as pressure sores on her buttocks but The Coombe House agreed to take her back and try to rehabilitate her. I cannot praise the staff more highly for their enthusiasm, dedication and skill. In the 3 weeks since discharge, they have achieved so much. I am always welcome and have often eaten there. The food is excellent. The home is friendly and provides many activities. The staff are also very well trained.

With mum needing more help than her "pop in" carers and my sister and I could provide, we visited a few homes of which The Coombe House was best by far. The overall appearance and feel and the way we were greeted and showed around made it the place we felt we would be happy for mum to be. Mum moved in February and with the help and support of the carers and hints and tips offered by the residents, mum's confidence and mobility soon started to improve, so much so she was going out in the garden on her own. (but under the watchful eye of the carers) something she hadn't been able to do for the last year or so in her own home. We visit mum most days and have got to know the staff well. We feel safe in the knowledge that mums care is in their hands as they obviously take great pride in the service they provide to the residents and the peace of mind my sister and I have is priceless.

Overall Experience
My in-laws went into Coombe House during the months of August/September 2015 and although they took a little time to adjust, they have been well cared for at the home. Although my Father-in-law passed away a couple of months ago, my Mother-in-law remains at the home and is now convalescing back there after a five to six-week stay in hospital.

We've found the management and staff at the home both very helpful and friendly and the place has a good family feel to it. My wife and I have visited the home on a regular basis over the past 14-15 months and have always felt welcomed, most times with a cup of tea or coffee, even when we've turned up at odd hours.

My mum came to Coombe House in April 2016 and settled well. The staff were friendly and considerate and encouraged her to participate in a range of activities which helped with her integration.

Unfortunately, in August she had shingles and ended up in the hospital for six weeks. The manager and staff of Coombe House were crucial to enabling her discharge from the hospital, even ordering an electric bed (she had fallen out of bed several times whilst in the hospital). The care since she has returned to the home has been superb and she has improved dramatically, including much-improved mobility.

I have no hesitation in recommending Coombe House to others.

Mum moved into The Coombe in June 2015, she struggled to cope following the loss of dad in November 2014. The Coombes has been so supporting for mum at a very difficult time. The staff are caring and empathetic and have good command of the English language. There are a range of activities that mum can get involved in and generally stays mentally active. She has re-started knitting after many years and colouring too! The home has a family feel and is run by a caring family.

Overall Experience

I have been in The Coombe House for seven years. I came when I was ninety years old. It was fortunate for me there was an empty room, as it is usually full. I am very happy and contented as I have my independence, but there is always some one to care for me if I need it. I have no washing or cooking or cleaning to do. A doctor comes around once a week or when necessary. Once a month we have Holy Communion in the lounge. Each afternoon there is entertainment. The meals are excellent and varied, also there are exercises three mornings a week. It is a warm and friendly place and I am very contented and happy.

The Coombe House is an amazingly caring home. My father came here a year ago in a poor state of health. He has just had his 101th birthday and is in great form, all due to the kindness, care and attention to detail of the staff here. The residents are treated like family and cared for with great love and professionalism.

The Coombe House is a small and very homely place with a very efficient but personal level of care. From cleaners to the management, everyone does their best in what are sometimes very trying and difficult situations. On a personal note, I visit my mum as often as possible and am always greeted with a smile and never been made to feel that I am in the way.
