Both my grandparents live in Icknield Court. The staff are very caring and look after my grandparents well. The manager is very approachable and I feel confident to ask him any questions with regards to my grandparents care. The atmosphere is "homely" and my family enjoy attending the events organised by the home, which I feel makes the care home an extra special family experience.

I spend about two hours each week at Icknield supporting residents with activities.
We regularly play scrabble, dominoes and cards.
I assist with creative activities, which are often themed according to what is happening, e.g. Queen's 90th birthday, Christmas, Easter, gardening.

I am extremely impressed with the variety of activities the residents are able to engage in. They find this very stimulating and it encourages them to chat.

All the staff at all times are helpful, caring and will always have time for a chat about mum about her needs. Any problems they will contact me straight away over illness or anything. This home is a credit to all the staff, carers and management.

I visit my wife three times a week so I see quite well how things are for her and see too that she is happy. The staff are good with her and also kind to me when I visit, including usually staying for lunch. My only gripe is that enough care wasn't taken to see that she wore her glasses all day, and in fact have lost her glasses which I have now replaced. The new greek manager seems to have shaped things if that were necessary and is most attentive. Thank you for all your help.

We really appreciate the way the carers looked after my mum over the last five years but especially the last year as she deteriorated. Particularly I would like to commend one of the carers she was always cheerful and very caring.

My mother had lived in Icknield Court for five and a half years and in that time she was treated with great respect and care from all the staff. The home is kept well and is very welcoming to visitors. I visited mum often and found the staff to be very friendly and helpful to me as well. We really did appreciate everything. My only negative thing to say is about the laundry.

Generally "mum" has been cared for exceptionally throughout her five years or so at Icknield Court. All services and needs were met and rendered graciously during her slide into dementia and ultimately her death recently. People still recognised that she was the gracious lady we have always known her to be and we so appreciated that too.

Her "Nurses, Carers" on the whole have all been exceptional.

Generally very good but open communication between staff and management is lacking. A current resident is violent and has caused serious injuries to two residents as well as striking my mother in the face twice leaving a bruise. In my opinion, this man is not receiving the care he needs and other residents and visitors are not being safeguarded under the Fremantle Trust Policy. Staff are also at risk daily. Management did not tell my mother's keyworker or other staff about the incidents.

Reply from Stuart Robb, Business Development Executive at Icknield Court

We accept that there were issues with regards to the challenging behaviour of one of our residents within a designated Dementia area of our Home. My mother became a resident at Icknield Court three years ago in that time she has had exemplary care. I cannot speak more highly fo the staff who have ensured that these yers have been happy and comfortable. She particularly likes the variety of activities and enjoyed the range of services provided. Needing to be encouraged to the hairdresser but always liking the result.

Thes staff are not only caring and professional but are genuinely kind of the residents in their care.
