The staff are professional in their care and genuine in their concern for both residents and families - within weeks whenever we visited they knew who we were, who we came to see and where my Mum was. From Manager to HCA. There are regular reviews in which we as family are involved. There ae regular
activities, quizzes, bingo, regular visitors of singers and dancers and thins related to seasons and evengs e.g. Olympics, Queen's birthday, Chinese New Year. The doctor visits regularly and if the staff are concerned over anything they ask him to take a look. In my Mum's case, spotting signs of skin cancer, now successfully removed. My Mum can be grumpy and at times is strong willed but the staff turn it into a positive, as keeping her character. The home and the staff are a blessing to us and her even though she may not always realise it!

Choosing a care home for my Mum was one of the most difficult things I have had to do. We visited many care homes in the area and St Leonards was by far our preferred option. We wanted somewhere with a homely atmosphere, somewhere where she would feel safe and be treated with kindness and respect. Also
somewhere that we as a family would feel comfortable and enjoy visiting regularly.

The staff are its greatest asset; Kind, Caring, Respectful, and Fun. They will often be chatting/laughing/singing/dancing with the residents and take the time to share a joke or hold a hand. A lovely family environment. My daughters and I always enjoy visiting.

The residents are always impeccably dressed and enjoy delicious freshly cooked food.
There is some great entertainment and different activities. Festivals are keenly celebrated and we have enjoyed going to the summer fetes, Christmas parties and other organised parties for family and friends.

Thank you St Leonards !

Mother is very happy at St Leonards and has been at the care home for just over three months. Very helpful and caring staff. Lots of activities now a new coordinator has arrived.

As I live abroad and am my mother's only son, it is imperative that I have total confidence that she is receiving the best quality care. To this end I carried out extensive and detailed research on care homes in the Aylesbury area prior to her placement at St. Leonard's, eventually visiting about a
dozen. Several I considered excellent. What sets St. Leonards apart is the palpable sense of humanity which reigns in the home. Well managed with a very dedicated staff, I have peace of mind that my mother has the best quality of life possible in a safe, spotless, homely environment.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.789)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.789) out of 10 for St Leonards Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 9 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.889 for St Leonards Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (96 Excellents x 5) + (12 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 108 Ratings = 4.889
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.9 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for St Leonards Care Home is based on 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.9
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 45 registered maximum number of service users is 9, which has been reached with 9 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
