MHA Alexandra House was originally a historic hotel hosted by King Edward VII in 1905, the care home is purpose-built offering modern facilities while retaining its rich heritage. The home provides compassionate residential and dementia care for 47 residents, tailored to meet the unique needs of every resident. With a dedicated team, many of whom have been with the home for over five years, the home offers consistency and familiarity in care.

My Nan was a resident from August last year, while she was at home she had lost weight and always looked withdrawn, as soon as she went to Alexandra House the change was amazing, she put on weight and looked so much brighter in herself, she was more engaging, sadly my Nan passed away, but the care she
received during her time there from the staff was outstanding. They kept you informed all the time of how Nan was. We had zoom calls, so we always felt we were with her. I would recommend this residential home without any doubt.

My Great-Nan was in this care home for the last 7 months of her life. Before then, she wasn’t eating at home and felt very lonely. The care home has bought her back to her old self with daily activities such as knitting, flower arranging and even taking part in dressing up! My Nan was quite religious
so had regular visits with the vicar and he put her at ease and made sure she was happy. She always had someone to talk to and was very happy with her view of the sea from her room. In the last few weeks, the care home allowed us to be on Zoom with her as often as we wanted to so we can be with her despite the pandemic - I can’t thank the home enough to allow us to have that time with her before she passed away.

My mother was frightened and sad until she came to live in Alexandra House. She changed back to her old self and was smiling and best of all she felt secure. She called Alexandra House her home. It was the best thing to happen to her in a long time. The staff treated her like family.

My Nan was admitted for respite care in August 2020 and has recently become a permanent resident. Originally my nan wanted to go home after her respite term as she feared she would miss home too much but being in the care of Alexandra House has made her realise just how safe and happy they make her
feel. My nan is no longer lonely and has someone on hand when she is worried or just wants some company. She sees Alexandra House as her home and has no desire to leave. There are plenty of activities for my nan to choose from and they also provide an onsite Chaplain who supports her with her spiritual beliefs. She has gained weight since her admission which is something we were always worried about when she was home alone, she looks so healthy it is unbelievable. As a family, the sense of relief we feel knowing she is finally somewhere that she can call home and be cared for in her final years is overwhelming. Thank you Alexandra House for everything you do for my Nan.

My nan was living at home alone lonely, bored and losing weight. My nan went to stay at Alexandra House and wow what a difference they have made to my nan. She's happy and looking good from the Skype calls we can arrange at this time. She gets to do activities during the day and 3 lovely meals which
she loves.

Brilliant care home, my great nan has become herself again and is getting the best care! She is doing so many activities that she had stopped doing. We also get to FaceTime my nan through this tough time and a carer will assist her with the technology. Thank you for making my nan happy again!

My mother has been a resident at Alexandra House for three months now and I cannot speak highly enough of the care she has received. All members of staff are very professional, caring and look after her brilliantly. The Administration Manager goes above and beyond expectations to ensure everything runs

My wife seems to have been looked after well during the 14 days she was at Alexandra house.
I did not enter the premises due to the Coronavirus therefore it is difficult to give a proper review. I have left blank areas that I have no knowledge of.

My husband has not been at Alexandra house long, and visits have been limited because of Covid, but all contact that I have had with the staff has been first class. My Husband seems happy, settled and has a good rapport with the carers.

Amazing friendly staff; who always make you feel welcome when we could visit. Never a problem to call and ask to speak to Mum or ask how she is. Any concerns are dealt with as soon as possible and keep the family up-to-date even during this difficult time.

My father-in-law received excellent care throughout his time at Alexandra House. It was thanks to the amazing care of the staff that he made a full recovery from his hip operation when it was touch and go. He had a good relationship with the staff and felt completely at home at Alexandra House. He always
enjoyed the food and was delighted when he was offered a sea-view room. We are immensely grateful to the staff that we were allowed to spend time with him in his final days.

I was very comfortably accommodated, and able to come and go as I wished and was able. The food was good and adequate. The dining room catered for a variety of abilities. I tried to establish a relationship with my table companions; one of which returned home; the other I was very sorry for, but I hope
I provided friendly contact, if temporary. I particularly appreciated that the staff, especially in the dining room, wore their hair tied back or piled on top of their heads.

The response from the carer team is excellent and due to the fact that my father is 90 per cent deaf whenever I phone up from abroad, they will always take the phone to him so we can try and have a chat. All of Dad's medical needs are catered for and arranged by the care team, which gives me great peace
of mind.

The staff were very helpful and managed to get Mum and Dad admitted within 24 hours on Christmas Eve. It was obviously a very quick admission and a difficult period to be entering/accepting new people into a new environment. There were a few teething problems but these were soon overcome. Overall I
was satisfied with the experience.

Kerry Graves

Job Title: Care Home Manager Joined: 2016

Kerry Graves is the dedicated care Home manager at MHA Alexandra House and has been part of the home's journey since 2016. With a career in care that began straight after further education, Kerry brings a lifelong commitment to supporting others. Her experience spans working with young people as well as delivering essential statutory and legislative training as a home trainer. Kerry first joined Alexandra House as Deputy Manager and, through her passion and leadership, stepped into the role of Manager in 2022.


Kerry’s approach is rooted in compassion and a strong sense of community. She believes Alexandra House feels more like a family than a workplace and is passionate about creating a loving and supportive environment for residents.
