This care home is very homely, rather than an institution, and actively welcomed my mum from the start. She was a resident at Bradbury House for only about 6 months. It was a big step for her as before she needed care she had been very independent living alone at her home, prior to Alzheimer's settling
in. From the first day until the end she had nothing but the best attention and care from all the staff. In the short time, she was there before passing we have been really pleased with the quality of care received. Thank you to all the excellent staff at Bradbury House.

My mother has been in this care home for a few weeks now. I must say that I am very impressed.
The staff (every single one of them) are polite and friendly and helpful. When possible they will always talk to you. Mum's bedroom (although small) is adequate for her needs and has been fitted with pictures
of family and a shelf put up for her ornaments.
I have also been impressed with the food. I have been allowed to have lunch with Mum on a couple of occasions.
I don't think we could have found a better place for her.

Mum has been in Bradbury House approximately 6 weeks and my goodness, what a difference it has been. Mum has been through an awful lot the past 2/3 years - hospital, different care homes where her anxiety has continually got worse, but since being in Bradbury House, with the wonderful staff at all levels
who have been patient, caring and so friendly, her life has been transformed.

My mother has stayed at Bradbury House on several occasions for respite care. Her stays have lasted for a couple of weeks to several months and on each occasion, she was welcomed like a member of the family. We (my sister and I) chose Bradbury House for its staff; when we visited on the first occasion
to assess the suitability for my mother we were so impressed by the attitude of the staff, the very friendly atmosphere and the speed of their response. Although the decor is a bit dated the care is not, the staff offer lots of stimulating activities and outings, including assisting residents, who chose to, to visit the town centre for shopping or a treat in a local cafe. Most importantly, my mother has been very happy there and both my sister and I have total confidence in the staff to ensure not just her physical but also, and almost more importantly, her psychological wellbeing.

Really happy with my mum at Bradbury House. We all had a sad, disturbing experience when mum was at her first and previous home. Also, it had been a real tough decision to put mum into permanent care. She was quite quickly deteriorating in that home but since being at Bradbury, she has bloomed, interacts
and has her appetite back and we have out mum back.

My Uncle decided he wanted to live in a care home, so we suggested moving closer to us in Braintree. The same day I spoke with the Manager, he was assessed and accepted. The move took place 3 days later. My Uncle can be an unsocial gentleman but has been made so welcome and has surprised us by spending
time in the day room. The staff respect when he wants alone time and don't push him on these days. They are gradually pulling him out of his shell. Bradbury house is a little gem of a care home. Keep up the great work.

I would like to say my mum was very happy at Bradbury House. The care and the staff are excellent. Every single member treated my mum with excellent care, consideration and much love.
We as a family could ask no more of the staff.
I feel the only let down of Bradbury House was the decor of the lounge
for the residents to sit in.

I could not have asked for more for her time in Bradbury House.

Bradbury House was always run in a professional manner but most of all in a loving and caring way. My mum received loving care almost every day and it was a welcome relief to know she was in caring care of all of the Bradbury House family. The love they showed for mum will always be forever remembered

The care given to my mother during the last weeks of her life was so kind, caring, compassionate and above all she was part of their family. The home is beautiful and feels like home, it’s clean bright happy and all the staff are so caring. They came to assess Mum in hospital and just meeting them I
knew the home would be lovely. I agreed to Mum going there before I visited. Mum’s room was so warm, cosy and bright I feel she ended her days in the most dignified way in a lovely environment, I wish I had been able to move her to this home a long time ago. Thank you to all the staff at Bradbury House in Braintree.

My Mum's been in Bradbury House for a few years until today when she sadly passed away.
The care that she has received over these years has been first class, with every member of the staff being very helpful and caring towards Mum. She always said Bradbury House felt like home, which is fantastic
as it was her home. I would like to thank every staff member for there fantastic service and would recommend Bradbury House to all friends and family.

Bradbury house care home is a very welcoming home to residents and relatives, the staff are always very friendly, professional and caring. The care staff are always on hand to answer any questions and nothing is ever too much. The care staff are extremely adaptable to all of my relative's needs and
always there to support and encourage her on days that she is not as good.
The home is always very clean and tidy, presentable and smells of lovely home cooked food.
There is always many different activities going on to keep the residents entertained and it's lovely that the residents are taken out as much as possible.
It's lovely to see a home which has a great friendly and loving atmosphere and great team ethics from all staff and the managers.

The overall care is excellent. The staff are lovely. Mum has issues with the food as she is a very fussy eater. Sometimes she would just like something simple like a tin of tomato soup but this is not an option, so I have taken some up so they can heat. The only complaint she has is waiting for the
commode. Unfortunately, as she has a bowel problem, when she asks for it, she needs it very quickly and is worried about having an "accident" - but I do realise they are often attending to other residents. I am so pleased they keep her mind active with puzzles, crosswords etc.

This is the third home that my mother has been in, in as many months and at last, she is settling in. Being given the attention and respect she deserves. She does not suffer from dementia, and it has been recognised that she still has an active brain, despite being physically frail. The activities organiser
has printed off crosswords and puzzles from the internet, sat with her and completed them together, very much appreciated. The staff are friendly and helpful, we are very impressed with the care our mother is receiving.

Job Title: Home Manager

I have worked in the care sector for 28 years, starting as a Night Care Assistant in a nursing home. I have worked as a Care Assistant, and then Senior Care Assistant in various residential, nursing and dementia homes. I joined Bradbury House 12 years ago and was a Senior Care Assistant for six years, also covering as Head Chef during this time. I then progressed to Deputy Home Manager for six years and at the end of July 2023, I became the Home Manager.


I oversee the day-to-day running of the home, ensuring that we meet all legislative and compliance requirements. I recruit and support my team members, as well as provide information and advice to support our residents and their families.


I enjoy my job because it is fun! I love talking and listening to our residents about their lives before coming to live at Bradbury House. I love bringing a fun element to their day by being a little crazy! I feel happy knowing that I make our residents feel safe and confident knowing that their best interests are my priority.


I love leading my team and encouraging their ideas, no matter how big or small, to improve and enhance our resident's stay at our home. I feel that I have a positive impact and that I motivate others and believe that my team enjoy coming to work at Bradbury House.


My biggest achievement must be achieving the role of Home Manager through hard work, training, and dedication. Personally, one of my proudest achievements was canyon walking. I was petrified, but excited at the same time and I was not going to give up!


My values might be a little cliché but are so true. I treat everyone as I would expect to be treated and if I feel I don’t have anything nice to say, then I don’t say anything! I believe care from the heart means being understanding, having empathy and compassion, as well as being reassuring.


I live in Braintree and have done most of my life. I have seen some changes, some for the better and I love the sense of community here. I enjoy the fact that I am able to see familiar faces when I am out and about.
