Bradbury House

Bradbury House was always run in a professional manner but most of all in a loving and caring way. My mum received loving care almost every day and it was a welcome relief to know she was in caring care of all of the Bradbury House family. The love they showed for mum will always be forever remembered and forever grateful to us as a family.

The care given to my mother during the last weeks of her life was so kind, caring, compassionate and above all she was part of their family. The home is beautiful and feels like home, it’s clean bright happy and all the staff are so caring. They came to assess Mum in hospital and just meeting them I knew the home would be lovely. I agreed to Mum going there before I visited. Mum’s room was so warm, cosy and bright I feel she ended her days in the most dignified way in a lovely environment, I wish I had been able to move her to this home a long time ago. Thank you to all the staff at Bradbury House in Braintree.

I can not speak highly enough of all the staff who show the highest level of compassion, dedication and understanding of your relative's needs along with the personal touches.

When I go home I know Mum is in safe hands.

The overall care is excellent. The staff are lovely. Mum has issues with the food as she is a very fussy eater. Sometimes she would just like something simple like a tin of tomato soup but this is not an option, so I have taken some up so they can heat. The only complaint she has is waiting for the commode. Unfortunately, as she has a bowel problem, when she asks for it, she needs it very quickly and is worried about having an "accident" - but I do realise they are often attending to other residents. I am so pleased they keep her mind active with puzzles, crosswords etc.

My brother was a resident from May-August 2017. He was extremely well looked after. Enjoyed the food and activities. The dedication of carers was outstanding. They made his last days comfortable.

This is the third home that my mother has been in, in as many months and at last, she is settling in. Being given the attention and respect she deserves. She does not suffer from dementia, and it has been recognised that she still has an active brain, despite being physically frail. The activities organiser has printed off crosswords and puzzles from the internet, sat with her and completed them together, very much appreciated. The staff are friendly and helpful, we are very impressed with the care our mother is receiving.

Having been away for four months from April 2017, I have returned to find Bradbury House a very much improved home. It is less cluttered, brighter and has a great atmosphere. I visit Bradbury House approximately five times a week and have always been happy with the care.

When I first visited my friend in your care home, I thought how friendly it was. As I have been coming regularly I have seen how good the staff are to the residents, their kindness, laughter and care. My friends say the food is great and from what I have seen, she is right, it always comes out hot and well presented. They also make sure the residents drink plenty as well. Good job. Keep it up.

My nan is now living in her own place with amazing confidence and the strength to look after herself.

Care staff are very caring, extremely adaptable to any of my mum's needs. All carers are kind and considerate. I feel we are very fortunate to have found this care home and would not want mum to be anywhere else.

Every resident seems happy and contented, and I have visited many times. All the care team are dedicated to every client's needs, wishes and provide dignity and respect to all.

The home needs more money allowed for food.

We cannot thank the staff enough and all of mums visitors have been equally impressed.

Staff provided very high standards of care with several individuals offering outstanding support to my dad. The latter included staff who were responsible for organizing activities and some of the managers who were extremely caring and also very responsive to the residents' needs. My dad retained his astute mind throughout his life and some staff went out of their way to take him on special trips to, e.g, music concerts or to assist him with his Kindle. My father was profoundly aware that staff were often operating under very tight constraints, for example, the impact of centralised decision-making which hampered efforts to respond swiftly to local incidents such as electrical failures or plumbing problems at BH. Similarly, the quality of the food, although initially good was, in recent years, of much poorer quality: tight budgets and central supply systems were responsible for this. Since I lived over 150 miles away I was grateful that my dad felt safe and secure where he lived.

Bradbury House has had no oven for a good few weeks. It's disgusting as the staff are trying to manage a hot and healthy meal for the residents without a complete way of cooking, so the staff are under stress about trying to provide a hot healthy meal which is desperately needed to keep residents as healthy as possible and for them to be given something tasty and hot and appetising, as it is a struggle to get some residents to eat anyway. This needs urgent action and we don't blame any of Bradbury House' staff. The staff are making the effort to do the best they can and have, in their own time, made food at home to bring in which they have cooked.

My uncle is 88 years old and was finding life more challenging. He lives on his own independently but was unable to care for himself. When I was alerted to his condition, he needed urgent help. Bradbury House in Braintree was recommended and they had a room available. My uncle had two very happy weeks with them. The care they provided was excellent. The whole staff team were kind, professional and caring. They made a huge difference to his health and well-being. He is now at home again.

Fantastic staff, friendly and helpful. Rooms are clean, well proportioned and the care home has a home feel with a good community atmosphere. Very clean home and all the staff really focus on the needs of the residents and the care that they provide is the best that I have seen.
