I came here in October and have been very happy, good food and good company. We play Bingo every week, have singing and music. The hairdresser also comes in each week.

Throughout the pandemic we have been well informed and staff have worked hard to keep our mum comfortable and safe. Staff have been good humoured and hard working. There is a homely atmosphere throughout. Our mum has been here for over five years and we have never regretted choosing Longfield.

My father has been in this care home since the beginning of the pandemic. I cannot speak highly enough of the care he has received and the support we have been given during this really challenging time for us all. I would not hesitate to recommend Longfield, they have kept us constantly updated, liaised with services on our behalf and looked after Dad during a really difficult time for us all.

We were extremely fortunate for our mother to receive respite care at Longfields whilst our father was taken to hospital in October last year. However, with Mum suffering from dementia and our father being the primary carer, we were worried about how our mother would adapt. However, from feeling guilty about resulting to external care whilst our father recovered at home, we soon saw our mother blossom upon our window visits during COVID. Not only did this give us peace of mind that she was happy and well cared for but more importantly, to our father. Longfields handled the COVID pandemic excellently in constantly keeping in contact with us as a family in any changes to the guidelines and even providing a two-way microphone for the window visits, which helped our hard of hearing father. Sadly our father passed away late last year, and our mother is now a permanent resident; we are so lucky and happy that she is now in a place that both our mother and us feels like it is her home!

My Mum has been a resident at Longfield Care Home for 4 years now. She has Alzheimer's but has received dignified care and lots of active support in all of her time there. She loves the garden areas of the home, but also tells me that the food is lovely, too! She is able to do some things for herself, but where extra care is needed, the team in Longfield will always ensure that dignity and respect are always maintained.
I always find the home is just that. A home. The team clearly understand that, too. The home is always clean and very well maintained. There are lots of events and activities and, in normal times, even great entertainers who visit and keep the residents smiling. The facilities are good, too, with all the assistance tools and devices needed for those who need a little extra help.

I always find the team to be bright and cheerful and that is infectious! Mum has been happy here for the 4 years and, even if she has had a little turn, the team are there to help.

Although my friend has only been in Longfield Care Home since 1st October, and because of the Covid 19 epidemic, I have not been able to see her room or go inside the building, we have of course had regular conversations with the resident, either by telephone or through the window. Now that she has settled in, she is very happy and is full of praise for all the staff, excellent food, and attention. My dealings with various staff members, both at the door and on the telephone, have been outstanding, and any request has never been too much trouble for them. I am more than satisfied in choosing Longfield care home in Maldon, and would recommend them to anyone.

Longfield care home has looked after my grandma with great care. They have done such a good job since the beginning of the pandemic at keeping the residents safe. The staff are friendly, helpful and most of all caring which is exactly what we all hope for in people looking after our loved ones. The accommodation is always clean and my grandma tells me the food is good.

I am completely happy with the care my mum receives at Longfield. All the staff are wonderful, always helpful, friendly, caring and professional. It's clear that they truly care for all the residents. There are no aspects of care that I think need improving. It's an amazing place, very homely and welcoming. The residents are cared for with dignity and compassion.

My father regularly stays at Longfield for respite care. I cannot praise Longfield and all the staff enough. They are caring and professional and understand all my father's needs. Longfield is very welcoming.
The food is excellent and my father always comments ho good it is. There's regular social activities which my father is encouraged to join.

I can enjoy my holiday knowing that my father will be cared for and all his needs met whilst I'm away. Thank you!

It was my great privilege to witness the heart-warming scene of the professional team at Longfield bringing the true spirit of Christmas to all the residents, in the most caring, affectionate and fun way possible.
I visited Mum shortly before lunch on 17th December to find the lounge decked out with Christmas decorations, and the table laid for a full celebration. The dinner was fabulous with nothing left to spare the appetite. However, what made it all so special was the engagement of all the staff. This is a place where, “everybody knows your name”, not just the carers but all the support staff. This is truly one big family where every resident is treated with care and affection.

In many ways, this was like being present at the finale of a Dickensian story where the warmth and goodness of human nature shines through and reminds us all of what is important in life. As a professional team, they are all extraordinary and I am deeply grateful my mother is in their care.

Words cannot express how delighted I am in finding the right home for our mum, mum a lady who loves music, chat, and feel at home, the staff have made us all very welcome at Longfield they are caring attentive, supportive and very friendly, the music room is outstanding of which we find most of our time spending in putting on CDs to listen too of which the centre has a huge variety of to please every taste. The entertainment is run by a lovely lady who organises everything and decorates the centre for all events, the local children come to the centre on a regular basis of which delight everyone and every week there is something going on.

the Chef, in particular, makes everything from scratch and makes lovely homemade cakes too, and caters for all diets. The staff do not stop working and it's so lovely to see them all get involved a happy unit makes a happy home for everyone, residents and family, and I thank everyone at Longfield for making this such a wonderful home.

A local primary school is visiting the home once a week. A small group of year sixes comes and plays games like dominoes with the old people or use craft materials to make decorations for Christmas. The children are delightful and the old people really respond well to them. A wonderful experience for my Mother in Law and everyone else.

My mum has recently joined Longfield and as a family, we are all extremely pleased with how the home has welcomed not only our mum but all of us.
We have noticed a massive difference in Mum's personality, it's so lovely to see her sparkle back.
Mum also recognises me and says my name, something that had been forgotten in her last home - so this is wonderful.
We have also heard Mum singing voluntarily which again was never done in her last home. This tells me Mum is happy.

So a big thank you to all the lovely staff at Longfield.

I have only had the chance to meet up with my Mother-in-law twice but am going there tomorrow the 21st May. I can't really put into words how lovely to see her happy again. She has been so anxious in the past 2 homes and last week it was lovely to see her in 'her home' and not 'a home'.

Gina Copsey
Gina CopseyJob Title:ManagerJoined: 2015

I started my career in care in 1999 after studying Science and Health Studies at college. Throughout my career, I have worked in nursing and residential homes, supporting older people with disabilities and dementia, and their families.

In the past, I have supported members of my own family through illness. This experience ignited my passion for working in care and ensuring that every resident receives the compassion, care and support they deserve. I have worked within the Excelcare group since 2015 in several roles, progressing to Home Manager and completing a level 5 diploma in care management. I have managed Longfield since 2014 and am very committed to this home.

I am very proud of our home and the fantastic team I work with. I am passionate about team member development and love supporting colleagues to improve their knowledge and progress in their careers.

I enjoy gardening, walking, skiing, and spending time with my family in my spare time.

Claire Pugh
Claire PughJob Title:Deputy ManagerJoined: 2014

I joined Longfield Care Home as an experienced care assistant in 2014. I quickly progressed to the role of Team Leader, and then in 2018 became Deputy Manager.

I have completed level 2 and 3 diplomas in care, and I am currently completing the level 5 diploma in care management. My two specialities are Dementia Care and Parkinson’s Disease care. I have completed qualifications in both these subjects, and I am accredited to lead teaching sessions in Parkinson’s Disease and Dementia Care.

My favourite part of the job is getting to know residents and their families and building a connection with people. I also like to continually learn and improve my knowledge through training and working closely with other professionals.

In my spare time, I enjoy walking my two dogs and family get-togethers, particularly summertime BBQs.
