Review from Susan M (Daughter of Resident) published on 3 April 2024 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
Mum had been a resident at Longview since 2020 during which time I could not fault the loving care she received - truly exceptional! Her room was always lovingly cleaned - it always looked as if I had tidied and placed photos and niknaks myself. Dementia resulted in her sometimes being a little difficult but she was always treated with respect and dignity in a light-hearted manner
Longview ensured I was able to remain her daughter - the level of care and well-being was second to none.
Sadly, Mum died, on 9th February 2024, and the genuine sadness at her passing was wholly evident.
They treated me with compassion and still nothing was too much trouble - outstanding to the very last.

Sincere thanks, Longview - you made the last couple of Mum's years happy for us both and gave me total peace of mind - God Bless you all.

My nan has been at Longview for 5 months now and we are very happy with her care.
She settled in well and is very well looked after. Recently there have been changes amongst the management team. This has improved the home even more.
Communication, staff ratios and support seem to have all improved along with interaction, activities and little touches which make Longview even more homely.

There are a lot of long-standing staff who care for my mam and others so well. We are very grateful for them.

My dad seems to have settled in well but I do have concerns about the amount of staff to deal with the number of residents especially at weekends. I find the residents often just in the dining room on their own with no stimulation or supervision. Also would like updates on GP visits etc.

My dad has been in your care for over a year and the best thing I think anyone can say is that I am so happy and relaxed about leaving his care and wellbeing with you. You provide a happy and secure home for my dad and it really helps knowing my dad is being well looked after. Thank you for all you have done and continue to do. If you are considering a place to leave a loved one don't hesitate, Longview's staff are so helpful and understanding.

My mum was in Longview for respite care. From the moment she arrived, I knew Mum was going to be well cared for. The staff are lovely and very helpful. Mum enjoyed the company of the other residents and staff, especially doing activities when she was in the lounge.

From the moment we enquired about my father-in-law becoming a long-term resident, we were greeted with a warm and friendly attitude, which instantly made us feel that Longview was the right place for him. Now that he has been there for a few months, the notable transformation in his quality of life is plain to see and gives my wife and I total peace of mind.

My mother was a resident here for the final year of her life while suffering from dementia. The staff are professional, committed and responsive. They went over and above to ensure mum’s quality of life was maintained during her time here and with good humour which mum certainly enjoyed. On visits, I was welcomed and could see that all residents were content and happy. I could not have asked for a better team to support the whole family through that year. Thank you.

I would like to thank everyone there for the tender care they gave my mother. She lived here for a year and was very happy. The home was always clean and the staff were amazing. The team were so supportive of our whole family from the time mum moved in, to her passing away. They knew my mum and understood her humour. Dementia is an awful illness but they treated all the residents with care dignity and humour. Thank you all so very much.

My husband was made very welcome from the start. The staff are very caring and friendly.
They also make us as a family feel very welcome as long as we follow their current safety precautions and are ready to answer any questions we have at any time.
My husband seems to have settled in well and gets on with all the staff.
His room is very clean and had room to move about and has an en-suite toilet. There is also plenty of room to store his clothes and personal belongings.
Residents are encouraged to join in with different activities and they also have people go in to entertain them, which they enjoy.

Our minds are eased by knowing that our loved one is being well looked after.

I'm not sure where to start, but here goes.
There has been a huge positive shift within the home since the current manager has come into post. The home now smells fresh, no longer like urine. Staff are happy, supported and interact much better with those living within Longview.
The home really is homely now, freshly decorated, clean, light and decorated with reminiscence pictures throughout.
I now feel that I am part of the Longview family - something that was missing prior to the new manager's appointment.
My father now ventures within the living rooms and even has friends - the staff's gentle encouragement whilst working at Dad's pace has enabled him to grow in confidence and want to form new relationships; which has been absolutely fantastic to see.

The home now works to the social model, which looks at the resident's needs in a holistic manner; no longer do I feel nervous about leaving my father. I have moved counties knowing my dad is safe, happy and loved. Thank you!
