As you can see all the ratings are marked 'Excellent' as this is the case with what I have seen. The good is because I do not have first-hand experience of activities from the standpoint of visiting. I have ticked good - this is not a criticism of the home and does not in any way give cause to doubt that my experiences in the home have been positive ones.

I have found the staff are caring and fo their very best for the residents. The standard of meals seems to be good at the moment but has not always met this standard in the past. Overall, I do have full confidence in the standards of care at Lyons Court.

Mum went into the care home on 30th March in the lockdown due to the virus. I phoned her most days, the staff were very helpful, polite and caring. I was kept informed of Mum's well-being. Mum is very happy and says how lovely the staff are and that the food is amazing.

Thank you all for looking after my mum.

The COVID-19 virus was in full swing during May. The care home shut down a week and a half earlier (rightly) than the government directive, and have therefore had no cases or deaths due to Coronavirus. This is down to good management and forethought. Mum has been treated well with activities and good care in this very difficult period.

Mum has settled in very well and is comfortable with her room and fellow residents. She enjoys the weekly activities; which vary to keep things interesting. She has been on a couple of outings; which she has enjoyed. Staff have been helpful, friendly and caring.

In the short time my mother has been at Lyons Court she has changed from being depressed and staying in bed all day. She now sits in the lounge and joins in with activities. The staff are always welcoming, helpful and professional.

I am noticing less staff. Definitely not enough carers for the number of residents. Sometimes one carer on the second floor for thirteen residents (not good enough). My mum has been here two years and I definitely think it's gone downhill, unfortunately. If it wasn't for family, Mum would be in bed all day. Her dementia has progressed and I don't think the staff are trained to deal with it.

Thank you for your feedback and we are sorry that you feel this way. After speaking with the home manager she assured me that staffing is always to the required level and that activities are often joined in with. Fiona's door is always open for you if ever you need anything. Best wishes, Fae.

Review from Moira O (Friend of Resident) published on 30 April 2019 Submitted via Website

We found Lyons Court to be efficient yet small enough to be friendly and 'known'. The premises were manageable but the lack of a functioning lift was a disappointment.

Reply from Fae Doherty, Senior Marketing Officer at Lyons Court Residential Care Home

Dear Moira, thank you for your kind words and excellent scores. After speaking with the manager, he would like to convey his apologies for any inconvinience caused by the delay to the lift reopening, it was unfortunately out of our hands due to a component manufacturing issue. Our new lift is now running well. Best wishes

Staff appear pleasant and on hand, they always take care of residents in a caring and respectful way.
Food always has a good choice and variety and they are encouraged to have something, the carers generally know what each of their likes and dislikes are when serving.

Activities are actively encouraged and suitable for all.

The home is very welcoming at all times and the staff are very caring and friendly. My aunt has felt at ease since moving into Lyons Court and feels very settled. The surroundings and overall layout of the building are very " homely " and the added bonus of the staffs' pet dogs on occasions makes for a normal feeling of life.

My husband has been at Lyons Court for approx 5 weeks.

I am delighted with the care and attention my husband is receiving I've been married to him 64 years, you can imagine how difficult it was to think about care. I'd been his carer for over 5 years but I am so satisfied with the attention from all the staff and manager.

Reply from Paul Roche, Customer Relations Manager (London & East) at Lyons Court Residential Care Home

Thank you for your kind review Wendy and we are delighted that you and your husband are pleased with the care and staff at Lyons Court. It's a difficult decision placing a loved one into care and hopefully we have helped to make that transition as smooth as possible. I will pass your kind comments onto the Team at Lyons Court.

My mother has been at Lyons Court since February 2017 and has happily settled into the home. Her room has a good aspect, of adequate size with ensuite facilities. Her room decorated with her personal possessions making it homely.
The staff are friendly, welcoming and attentive to both residents, relatives and visitors. They welcome any comments or concerns they have.

The compassionate dedicated approach from management and carers has given us as a family assurance that mother is in a caring environment and her wellbeing maintained.
