Maitland House provides short-term respite care and longer term support to up to 24 people, situated a short walk from the Clacton-on-Sea seafront.

The home has comfortable bedrooms with ensuite facilities, spacious lounges and a dining room as well as a hair salon and adapted bathrooms. Outside in the garden, residents can enjoy a seaside-themed courtyard complete with beach huts.

Residents also benefit from freshly prepared meals which can be enjoyed in the dining room or in residents' own bedrooms if they would prefer.

Activities are provided by the Activity Co-Ordinators and are designed to meet residents' preferences and interests, ensuring there is always something to look forward to.

There are many places for residents to visit locally, in an area known for its wonderful land and seascapes, together with a great depth of heritage.

Our lovely mum became a resident at Maitland House after we lost our dad in 2021. She was enjoying her time there up until the summer of 2022 when her health started to deteriorate and she stopped eating in September. With the exemplary care she was given, and encouragement to drink, she continued up
until February of this year. Sadly, she lost her fight and passed. I want to thank the staff for the care, dignity and respect they gave her and also the care they gave to us as a family in her last week, we will be forever grateful. Also, they need to be commended for the fact that she never once had a break in her skin or pressure sore in the whole sixteen months she was there, which is a testament to her care. I would have no hesitation in recommending the care home to anyone who was looking. With grateful thanks.

My aunt really enjoyed the mad hatter's tea party, she was dancing and singing along. She loved her Easter hat and Elvis. A good time was had by all.

I was worried about Mum going into a care home, but I am really glad she is now. She is healthier and happier at this home. The staff are lovely, and the food is excellent. Anny worries or problems that arise are dealt with quickly and efficiently.

Always a good welcome for visitors. Mum always appears happy and regularly tells me how good the food is!
Mum tells me the staff are lovely. She enjoys the entertainment and loves her room.
All in all Mum was reluctant to consider a care home but now tells me it's the best move she could have made.
She enjoys the company and the security of knowing someone is always there!

My mother has been a resident at Maitland House for eight months, during that time from what she tells me and what I have witnessed on my visits she is treated very well and with dignity. My mother is totally bed-bound and all her needs and wishes are carried out with care and thoughtfulness. She seems
happy and content there and, as a family, we do not have any concerns.

Mum was a very frail 96-year-old when she finally agreed to go into care. She has now been at Maitland House for six months and has put on weight and is much sharper mentally. I am hoping that there will be more entertainment now we are finally coming out of lockdown but otherwise cannot fault the care
she is receiving. She really looks forward to the meals and the lovely cook does everything she can to supply her favourite food. The home is clean and comfortable and the staff always friendly.

My father has only been in Maitland House for a week, it was a very hard decision to come to, but with the help of the staff at Maitland, their understanding and reassurance, I know this home is the right one for Dad's needs. I delivered his belongings the day before his move and the staff had everything
in place for his arrival. They have been in constant contact with me since he arrived, and we chat with him every day. The home itself is very clean, just had a makeover and staff are cheerful. The chef is amazing, my dad likes his food and would say if it wasn’t good. I’m just relieved that he’s happy.

Although at first reluctant to give up her independence, a short respite stay in Maitland House convinced my mum that she wanted to be there full time. Staff are caring, polite, friendly, capable, everything you would want in a carer for a loved one. It is reassuring to know that she is happy, safe

So far my mother has been well looked after. The staff have been very accommodating considering we have been in lockdown since she went into the home and there has not always been a full compliment.
I have only been allowed into the home once but found it well decorated and clean with modern furniture
and fittings.
With its close location to the seafront, I look forward to being able to take my mother out in the summer.

Staff very polite and professional at all times. Pleasant room and facilities. Only one complaint. Last meal without a drink, a very long time before breakfast. I was an orthopaedic patient and total non-weight bearing requested by the consultant.

Staff all very friendly and helpful. They settled mum in well when she was admitted at short notice. The procedures to protect residents from COVID infection are rigorous, but it is still possible to visit residents outdoors whilst maintaining social distancing.

My wife was in the home for 10 days before she died.
The staff could not have done any more for her than they did.
