I would like to thank the management and all the staff for making my mother's last few weeks as pleasant and compatible as could be. Also, the support and care you showed to my mother and our family were exceptional. Unfortunately, she was not well enough for any activities but it sounded great.

My wife was in the home for 10 days before she died.

The staff could not have done any more for her than they did.

Reply from Susan Webster, Operations Manager at Maitland House

We are so sorry for the loss of your wife and what must be a very difficult time for you. But thank you so much for taking the time to provide feedback on the care that she received during her very short stay at Maitland House. We continually aim to improve the service we provide and feedback is most welcome.

I have found Maitland House a very pleasant home for my mum. The staff there are always happy and willing to help whenever asked.
Mum is getting the care she needs and given her medication at the correct times.
The food is also to a high standard and nothing is too much trouble to prepare if asked.

Overall very happy knowing Mum is safe and looked after 24 hours a day.

Always a warm welcome on arrival at Maitland House. We often take an elderly relative to visit my father, they both enjoy the tea and biscuits.

Dad is very happy in the home and is assisted to be as independent as possible. As his grip is weak, handles on cutlery have been adapted allowing him to enjoy his meals in the dining room. Everyone seems happy and content, it's lovely to hear people singing along to the old songs and enjoying the activities on offer.

I came in walking with the aid of a Zimmer frame. I got an assistant and in 3 months could walk without the aid of the frame. Staff did their best to assist me in all ways. The room was always kept tidy and they made various appointments, where staff always attended with me. Can't complain about anything. Food was very good. Staff were very helpful always.

Review from Eve B (Sister of Resident) published on 9 March 2017 Submitted via Postal Card
Overall Experience

My sister was transferred from hospital in Cambridge in October 2016 to Maitland House care home Clacton-on-sea. Having lived in Cambridge all her married life, sadly her husband passed away in May this year and she eventually needed hospital treatment. On discharge from hospital decided to enter a care home in Clacton where she previously lived in her single life to be near relatives. From the time she entered Maitland House, she has been treated with love, respect and dignity as all the residents are. It is a pleasure to visit my sister and with a very caring manager who works together as a team, are very organised and go out of their way to please all residents. My sister could not be in a better care home which I believe is one of the very best in Clacton.

A friendly and accommodating care home. We visited several when mum has to enter care, and Maitland House stood out by miles! Staff are all very cheery and most have been there for a long time. Mum is well looked after and is very happy in this environment.
