My mother in law has been in the home for the last 16 months. The care and support she gets are second to none from all the staff. The facilities that are there means she has everything she needs. I can't praise the staff enough as they are all professional and caring in their jobs. My mother in law
is well cared for and I could not pick any fault in the care home.

My wife's nan was a resident at Milton Lodge and in the time she was in there my wife always said and felt how amazing the care staff were taking care of her nan. She was always clean and fed and was stimulated daily by the activities. My wife always felt at home. When my wife's nan passed away at the
home the staff were amazing and couldn't do enough for the family. Overall the home is amazing, the manager and staff are a credit to the caring sector.

My Aunt has been living in Milton Lodge for the past two years. She enjoyed a varied range of activities and having her hair and nails done was important for her self-esteem. There were difficult times for the staff, my aunt suffering from dementia, but during this time she was well cared for with
dignity and love.
My Aunt sadly died in January and during the weeks leading up to her death, nothing was too much trouble for the staff, both for her and myself. I have 25yrs of palliative and end of life care experience and was extremely impressed with the skills the staff demonstrated, individually and as a team, helping to make this time as manageable as possible. Their suggestions and attention to detail could not be faulted and as such were comparable to other specialised hospitals and units. It is a testament to their recruitment and training policies.
My grateful thanks and best wishes for your future success.

My mother was in Milton Lodge for 18 months until she died and she could be a difficult resident but the staff were fantastic, had so much patience with her and were always there to comfort her. The food was very good and the activities could not have been better with something going on most days.
The
place is always clean and free of any odours and a comfortable residence where older people can better relate to the corridors and rooms as being home from home rather than a clinical new building.
I am so grateful to Milton Lodge for what they did for my mother I now volunteer and help with craft activities. So pleased my mum was in Milton Lodge and am most grateful to the management and staff for their wonderful care.

When my uncle first arrived at Milton Lodge a staff member greeted us at the door which I found a nice touch (We didn't have to ring the doorbell).
The staff are so friendly and attentive, nothing is too much trouble. It is the residents "home", not a care home.

My mother moved there in November and stayed there for seven weeks and was very happy there but sadly she has passed away now.
The staff were very caring and I was very impressed that they did a guard of honour for her. They look after the residents well.

The smiles on my parents' faces tell the whole story in their own admission we want for nothing, we are well looked after by kind and family orientated workforce where nothing is too much trouble. There are continued regular events and even my mum enjoys the food and activities which can be summed
up as a new lease of life!
Thank you, Milton lodge.

Milton Lodge is a place I would recommend to everyone. This place is filled with such a warmth that when you go there, you feel welcome and get the impression that all the staff are happy to work there and that they sincerely care about their residents. My grandparents are residents there and I know
they are very happy being there. I'm impressed with how much effort the staff puts into celebrating every event that comes up. Furthermore, the way they include their residents in the process, which gives them something to do so they still feel useful. I appreciate that a lot. I live in a different country and that is really hard to be so far way because of their age. But it makes me happy and less worried when I know how good they are being taken care of at Milton Lodge.

Staff were always welcoming.professional and nothing was ever too much trouble. Milton Lodge as a home has done so much for my grandmother in her final seven weeks than in the previous home in the three years she was there. They showed so much love and respect and as a family that will stay with each
one of us forever. The guard of honour they did when we went to see our deceased relative for the final time was so lovely and warming. We will miss not visiting the home as much as our relative.

My Dad stayed at Milton Lodge for about 7 weeks for a period of respite care after a stay in hospital.

He was well looked after in Milton Lodge and this is down to the staff in there who are very good. Some of them are real gems, but I always felt that the team as a whole really cared about my Dad

and the other residents there.

Dad enjoyed the food there - a little bit too much he said as far as all the cakes and biscuits went! He said the cooked meals at lunch time were delicious.

Once I walked in to a big lounge there looking for my Dad (he was elsewhere). There were about 15 residents bunched together, all in a jolly mood waving at me. Very different from another home that I visited a while ago where it was all very subdued and a bit depressing in the residents lounge. So if you've got a relative who's sociable and enjoys company this home might well suit them! They do also have other lounges where things are a lot more peaceful if residents want some peace and quiet.

The one downside was the room my Dad was staying in which I personally thought could have done with some redecoration, but overall I would definitely recommend Milton Lodge to anyone interested.

(ps. another minor blip - when my Dad went in quite a few bits of clothing got lost in the home's laundry. If you've got a relative going into a home name everything!)

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.774)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.774) out of 10 for Milton Lodge is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 16 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 16 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.874 for Milton Lodge is calculated as follows: ( (170 Excellents x 5) + (16 Goods x 4) + (4 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 190 Ratings = 4.874
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.9 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Milton Lodge is based on 16 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.9
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 35 registered maximum number of service users is 7, which has been reached with 16 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Trudi Snee

Job Title: Care Home Manager Joined: 2000

My name is Trudi Snee and I’m the proud Manager of Milton Lodge Care Home. I’ve worked in care since the age of 16, spurred on with the courage and conviction of wanting to make a difference, having witnessed a poor level of care afforded to my own Grandfather and therefore firmly believing that not all care homes fail to deliver.

I started working at Milton Lodge in 2000 as a Care Assistant and then progressed my way up through the ranks until being appointed Manager in 2006. I’m extremely passionate about the home and pride myself on the service and level of care that my team and I deliver to our residents, all of which we have come to regard as family – this is never just a job to me, it has become my life.
