The Haven

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My wife has been in The Haven for just over a year. She had spent some time in temporary "respite" care in other care facilities before, so I had a good reference point for comparison.
She was a temporary resident initially but, due to a decline in her condition, was offered a place.
I was delighted
that she was able to be permanently homed at the Haven. All the staff are excellent and there is a much less clinical or hospital like atmosphere here.
This is not only due to the excellent staff, actively interacting with the residents far more than I've seen elsewhere, but also how the layout, especially of the common areas, is more homely than the other homes I've seen.
The food and care are consistently excellent and there are armchair fitness activities, games, quizzes and even live music performances surprisingly often. I honestly couldn't have hoped for more.
I was, and still am, extremely grateful all the wonderful characters at The Haven are looking after her.

My stepfather has had a few health problems lately and some middle of the night trips to hospital. I have been advised of the problems immediately and kept informed of the outcomes. I can't fault the wonderful people that look after and care for my step father. It is such a reassurance for me as I
am not able to visit him. Their facebook page is a wonderful means of seeing what he is up to most days, whether it's having his hair cut or eating his lunch. I am very pleased I chose Oakdene

I was a little bit concerned when dad went into the home that he wouldn't settle. Nothing would be further from the truth.
He has settled very well and seems to be enjoying what he has left of his life. I'm sure the staff will fully know who I'm on about when I say that he can be heard singing most
days.
The staff do a grand job if he's nice to see him in good spirit every time I visit.
Well done to all involved and thank you for caring.

My cousin has settled in very well. He enjoys the food which is a big plus. Bill has never been at ease joining in with things so I'm pleased he has been enouraged to participate in some activities. All the staff are friendly + caring. The only improvement could be the lay out of residents lounge and
dining areas which seem a bit cramped. A very good, well run home. Reassuring to know Bill is looked after well.

Hazeldell

Since coming to Hazeldell, Mum has shown a remarkable improvement. She's become more carefree, social, and her usual happy, chatty, and humorous self that had been overshadowed over the past year by falls, malnutrition, Alzheimer's, and the daily stresses at home that left her withdrawn and confused.
This positive change has been a huge relief for our family, and we credit it to the exceptional care, support, and engagement she receives from the staff and fellow residents at Hazeldell, where nothing is too much trouble and there is always a friendly face to turn to.

Hazel dell is a lovely caring place to be. My foster mum moved here last year very poorly but the care she has received from everyone at the home has helped her to settle and recover very well. She is now very happy, safe and looked after very well. The staff are also very supportive and helpful towards
me to which has been a great help.
The home is always clean and tidy. The residents always seem happy. The staff are all amazing and very caring. I would definitely recommend this home if you are looking for somewhere to move a loved one too!

My mum was at Hazeldell care home for five months. The manager made my husband and myself very welcome when we looked around I knew it would be perfect for my mum and it was. The home is clean and tidy and the food, activities and entertainment is excellent. All of the staff are absolutely fantastic
and go beyond their jobs to look after the residents well. My mum really thrived and couldn't have been looked after better. Also excellent support was given at a very difficult time which meant a lot. I would definitely recommend this care home. Thank you to you all.

Mum has now been at Milton Lodge for 2 years. The staff have always been very friendly and have a very caring and positive attitude. Mum hasn't always been the easiest of residents but has always been treated with respect and dignity. Mum has declined considerably in the last 6 months and spends most
of her time in her bedroom. Having said this staff still include her, when she is willing, in day-to-day activities. Despite the decline mum is happy and settled. Thank you everyone.

I was very struck from our first visit to Oakdene by the warmth, friendliness and hospitality of all the staff without exception. All the residents we met were treated as if everyone of them were the most important - including my mother, who was treated with the utmost kindness, dignity and a very high
level of nursing care. The 'open house' policy of Oakdene gave me a great deal of reassurance, knowing that each visit would be welcomed, even at the busiest of times. The hard work and dedication of all the staff made Oakdene a real home and an absolute pleasure to visit. Thanks to all of them!
