Review of Milton Lodge from D S (Daughter of Resident) published on 10 September 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
My mother has been at MIlton Lodge for 15 months. Mum was initially discharged from hospital. The location is near to her previous address.
Staff are consistent in their care and attention of my mother.
My mother is now eating better than previously, (when she lived on her own, with my now deceased father).
Food is good and mum mostly enjoys what she eats from a choice.
My mother's room is spotlessly clean. Dusted, swept and mopped.
The staff are willing to respond to my requests and questions.
If there have been concerns with medication or health I have been kept informed.
There is a range of activities from week to week. Games, singing, craft and cookery. Etc.
A more inclusive garden would be an improvement so residents can go outside with supervision.

I understand this is in the planning.

It gives me peace of mind that my mother is well looked after.

I find the staff very caring and polite and they show care and compassion to the clients but in my opinion there is never enough staff available for what ever reasons and this leads to deficiencies in clients basic requirements such as
1. Regular Clean bedding.
2. Hair washing and nail care,
3, liquid refreshments,
4.clients stimulation.

5. Laundry going missing or incorrect.

Review of Oakdene Rest Home from C M (Son of Resident) published on 2 September 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
I accidentally walked into another resident's room who came to the Home after my mum. Her room is much better than my mums. I emailed before about my mum getting a better room and nothing has happened nor have I been told the criteria.
My mum is always clean and tidy and cared for well. The staff are all good. In other Homes they have a key code to get in and out. I've mentioned it before but sometimes you have to go up and down the corridor to find someone to let you out.

I've never seen the food but mum would say if it wasn't good. The entertainment team are really good. Sad to see Alisha go but Ria is good with the residents.

we feel mum is being provided with excellent care, especially at the moment as she dealing with various illnesses. The activities put on by the home is excellent with a variety to meet needs/interests. Mum has her hair done frequently which is always a bonus. Management is approachable and is always welcoming when we visit and they are always ready to answer any questions that we have.

Oakdene is a relaxed and caring environment. Always made to feel welcome and my mum is well cared for and content. Any queries raised are sorted promptly and I have no concerns regarding the level of care that mum receives. All the staff are helpful even when you know they are under pressure and have a lot of tasks to deal with.

We chose Oakdene as the moment we walked in we were met with such a warm and friendly welcome from the staff. My stepfather is very settled and happy. I haven't been able to visit for some time but I am sent photos and videos of him. The social media site is excellent as we can see what's going on at Oakdene. I would always recommend Oakdene to anyone worried about finding a home for a loved one.

I am very happy with the overall experience, since mum moved into care home only 10 week ago.
Obviously very apprehensive about procedure but any worries not needed as mum is well looked after by all members of staff and have been most considerate and helpful in making mum feel comfortable

All residents are encouraged daily in activities to join in which keeps them occupied and happy

Review of The Haven from Roy I (Wife of Resident) published on 25 August 2026 Submitted via Postal Card
Overall Experience

I visit my wife daily, where possible. On arriving always treated with utmost respect, smiling hello, as when I depart. Go by taxi 11 o'clock, depart 4 pm taxi, outer door always locks to stop in house people going outside unsupervised. In house residents always supervised when waking inside care home, never hear a bad word spoken, even during awkward occurrences that are bound to occur. The management always willing to discuss my wife's profess on a daily visit.

My mum has been living at Brook House for some time now, and we couldn't be happier with care she receives. She is happy, feels safe, and is treated with kindness and respect by all the staff. They take excellent care of her day-to-day needs as well as her medical requirements. I particularly appreciate how well the home keeps me informed about doctor visits, appointments and any outcomes or changes to her care.

Knowing she is in such capable and caring hands gives our family great piece of mind!

Review of Hazeldell from Richard B (Son of Resident) published on 27 July 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

My father is very happy at Hazeldell. He has struggled with getting older and losing some mental and physical ability. The staff at Hazeldell are always kind and patient and helpful. They engage happily with me and my family and are very caring. The management too are always willing to listen and are helpful with any questions. My father particularly enjoys the music events when singers come in to the home and happily chats with others. I would thoroughly recommend Hazeldell.

Review of Brook House from Duncan B (Son of Resident) published on 26 June 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
Mum was a resident for just over a year at Brook House and the care provided from arrival to her death was exceptional. She had always said that she never wanted to go into a home but it was necessary for her own safety. Her needs were well resourced and she formed close friendships with the care team which helped her feel more at home than she had in a long time. In the final months of her life, she lost the power of communication which caused her a great deal of frustration and distress. The team gave almost constant care and reassurance, providing better communication and understanding than I could - I was in awe of their compassion and humanity.

The team treated her with dignity and respect at all times and that is something that I will always treasure.

Reply from Charlotte Coe, acting home manager at Brook House
Thank you so much for taking the time to share your heartfelt review. We are deeply honoured that you entrusted Brook House with your mum's care during such an important time in her life.

It means a great deal to know that our team helped your mum feel safe, comfortable and at home, despite her...

Review of Oakdene Rest Home from B A (Daughter of Resident) published on 23 June 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

Dad has been a resident at Oakdene for 2years,when he 1st entered into the home we were really worried about leaving him, he had been diagnosed with dementia and mum couldn't cope with his care anymore. Sharon and Julie came to our home to talk to us and put our minds at ease, from day 1 the staff welcomed dad as though he was an old family member. His personal care was wonderful they made sure he was always clean and comfortable, offering dignity and respect. His medical treatment from the carer's was always patient and cheerful. The kitchen staff offered a variety of foods which always looked very tasty. The home was always clean and tidy, the house keeping staff were thoughtful when entering his room, the handyman always there to assist. The biggest fault of the home was they all cared too much and we're so invested in the care of the residents. During dad's last days I can't thank the staff enough for their support and care to dad myself and my family.

Review of Hardwick Dene from Moira F (Daughter-in-law of Resident) published on 9 June 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

Mum has been a resident at HD for 6 months & in all that time she been very content & settled. All the staff have a good rapport with the residents. They are all friendly & patient & the level of care provided is excellent. Communication is strong & HD always keep us updated & discuss any changes in Mum's condition with their priority being Mum's health, welfare & engagement as a resident. As Mum's needs have changed, they have also been anticipated & quickly accommodated.

On visiting HD it's always a friendly & welcoming atmosphere & we have been impressed by the range of arranged activities from weekly live music, quizzes, baking, crafts, gardening to visiting goats & ponies.

Dad was also at HD for a month before passing. HD were happy to provide End of Life care with the support of the District Nurse & we couldn't fault the way in which they cared for him in his last few days with compassion and empathy.

As a family it is reassuring to know Mum is safe & well cared for.

Review of Hazeldell from A B (Daughter of Resident) published on 1 June 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

Since moving into Hazeldell Mum has changed from a lonely unhappy woman battling dementia to a woman with new friends, a much happier outlook and instead of being lost and confused she is now living with dementia. She receives great care , great stimulation from the activities and a much better quality of life than she was experiencing before. Hazeldell is spotlessly clean and the staff are great but more than that it is such a happy place and for my mum in the twilight of her life it is so important for her children and grandchildren to see her safe and happy

Review of Hazeldell from L L (Daughter of Resident) published on 24 May 2026 Submitted via Website

My sisters and I were adamant that our mother would not go into a care home, however her dementia and frailty took that decision away from us.
Mum first went into Hazeldell for two weeks respite, but when it was clear that she would need 24 hour care going forward, it was an easy decision to make it her permanent home. We have seen our lonely, confused and reserved mother absolutely blossom into a person we thought we had lost. She is always in company, participates in daily activities and we see her laughing and having fun.
I enjoy visits, joining in with activities and games and see first hand the work that is done to care and give each resident dignity and respect.
The management are very hands on and approachable. The care staff are helpful and knowledgeable. The cleaning team keep everything spotless.
There is a family feel to the home, I have witnessed the staff being there and helping even in their own time.

I am so glad my Mum is there safe, happy and well looked after.
