Review of Hazeldell from Richard B (Son of Resident) published on 27 July 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

My father is very happy at Hazeldell. He has struggled with getting older and losing some mental and physical ability. The staff at Hazeldell are always kind and patient and helpful. They engage happily with me and my family and are very caring. The management too are always willing to listen and are helpful with any questions. My father particularly enjoys the music events when singers come in to the home and happily chats with others. I would thoroughly recommend Hazeldell.

Review of Brook House from Duncan B (Son of Resident) published on 26 June 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
Mum was a resident for just over a year at Brook House and the care provided from arrival to her death was exceptional. She had always said that she never wanted to go into a home but it was necessary for her own safety. Her needs were well resourced and she formed close friendships with the care team which helped her feel more at home than she had in a long time. In the final months of her life, she lost the power of communication which caused her a great deal of frustration and distress. The team gave almost constant care and reassurance, providing better communication and understanding than I could - I was in awe of their compassion and humanity.

The team treated her with dignity and respect at all times and that is something that I will always treasure.

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your heartfelt review. We are deeply honoured that you entrusted Brook House with your mum's care during such an important time in her life.

Review of Oakdene Rest Home from B A (Daughter of Resident) published on 23 June 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

Dad has been a resident at Oakdene for 2years,when he 1st entered into the home we were really worried about leaving him, he had been diagnosed with dementia and mum couldn't cope with his care anymore. Sharon and Julie came to our home to talk to us and put our minds at ease, from day 1 the staff welcomed dad as though he was an old family member. His personal care was wonderful they made sure he was always clean and comfortable, offering dignity and respect. His medical treatment from the carer's was always patient and cheerful. The kitchen staff offered a variety of foods which always looked very tasty. The home was always clean and tidy, the house keeping staff were thoughtful when entering his room, the handyman always there to assist. The biggest fault of the home was they all cared too much and we're so invested in the care of the residents. During dad's last days I can't thank the staff enough for their support and care to dad myself and my family.

Review of Hardwick Dene from Moira F (Daughter-in-law of Resident) published on 9 June 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

Mum has been a resident at HD for 6 months & in all that time she been very content & settled. All the staff have a good rapport with the residents. They are all friendly & patient & the level of care provided is excellent. Communication is strong & HD always keep us updated & discuss any changes in Mum's condition with their priority being Mum's health, welfare & engagement as a resident. As Mum's needs have changed, they have also been anticipated & quickly accommodated.

On visiting HD it's always a friendly & welcoming atmosphere & we have been impressed by the range of arranged activities from weekly live music, quizzes, baking, crafts, gardening to visiting goats & ponies.

Dad was also at HD for a month before passing. HD were happy to provide End of Life care with the support of the District Nurse & we couldn't fault the way in which they cared for him in his last few days with compassion and empathy.

As a family it is reassuring to know Mum is safe & well cared for.

Review of Hazeldell from A B (Daughter of Resident) published on 1 June 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

Since moving into Hazeldell Mum has changed from a lonely unhappy woman battling dementia to a woman with new friends, a much happier outlook and instead of being lost and confused she is now living with dementia. She receives great care , great stimulation from the activities and a much better quality of life than she was experiencing before. Hazeldell is spotlessly clean and the staff are great but more than that it is such a happy place and for my mum in the twilight of her life it is so important for her children and grandchildren to see her safe and happy

Review of Hazeldell from L L (Daughter of Resident) published on 24 May 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
My sisters and I were adamant that our mother would not go into a care home, however her dementia and frailty took that decision away from us.
Mum first went into Hazeldell for two weeks respite, but when it was clear that she would need 24 hour care going forward, it was an easy decision to make it her permanent home. We have seen our lonely, confused and reserved mother absolutely blossom into a person we thought we had lost. She is always in company, participates in daily activities and we see her laughing and having fun.
I enjoy visits, joining in with activities and games and see first hand the work that is done to care and give each resident dignity and respect.
The management are very hands on and approachable. The care staff are helpful and knowledgeable. The cleaning team keep everything spotless.
There is a family feel to the home, I have witnessed the staff being there and helping even in their own time.

I am so glad my Mum is there safe, happy and well looked after.

Review of Hazeldell from S R (Granddaughter of Resident) published on 11 May 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

I honestly can't thank everyone at Hazeldell Care Home enough for the love and care they've shown my nanna. From the moment she arrived, she's been treated with such kindness, dignity, and genuine warmth that it's made a difficult transition so much easier for our whole family.

The staff go above and beyond every single day, not just meeting her needs, but really taking the time to get to know her as a person. They always greet her (and us!) with smiles, and it's so reassuring to see how comfortable and happy she is in their care.

The home itself is always spotless, welcoming, and full of life. There are activities, laughter, and a real sense of community that makes it feel like a true home rather than just a care facility.

As a granddaughter, it means everything to know she is safe, respected, and genuinely cared for. I couldn't have hoped for a better place for her. Hazeldell is truly special, and I'm endlessly grateful to every member of the team.

I have found carers and management staff extremely helpful considerate and kind to both my mother and myself. They are always very welcoming and listen to any concerns that I have.

I have never felt unwelcomed or that my mother even with her dementia patronising or unwilling to help.

Mum has been at Hardwick Dene since May 2023. This is a lovely care home, it has a relaxed, happy, family warmth to it. Mums needs have changed over the years and adjustments made accordingly. The staff are amazing, they are friendly, caring and fun around the residents. The food is all home cooked, there are options and the presentation is adjusted according to the residents changing needs. There is always entertainment including lots of singalongs which mum likes. The staff are always available to have a chat if you have questions and keep you informed as when things come up. I am very happy with the care mum receives and highly recommend this care home.

Review of The Haven from Stuart C (Husband of Resident) published on 16 March 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
My wife has been in The Haven for just over a year. She had spent some time in temporary "respite" care in other care facilities before, so I had a good reference point for comparison.
She was a temporary resident initially but, due to a decline in her condition, was offered a place.
I was delighted that she was able to be permanently homed at the Haven. All the staff are excellent and there is a much less clinical or hospital like atmosphere here.
This is not only due to the excellent staff, actively interacting with the residents far more than I've seen elsewhere, but also how the layout, especially of the common areas, is more homely than the other homes I've seen.
The food and care are consistently excellent and there are armchair fitness activities, games, quizzes and even live music performances surprisingly often. I honestly couldn't have hoped for more.

I was, and still am, extremely grateful all the wonderful characters at The Haven are looking after her.

My stepfather has had a few health problems lately and some middle of the night trips to hospital. I have been advised of the problems immediately and kept informed of the outcomes. I can't fault the wonderful people that look after and care for my step father. It is such a reassurance for me as I am not able to visit him. Their facebook page is a wonderful means of seeing what he is up to most days, whether it's having his hair cut or eating his lunch. I am very pleased I chose Oakdene

I was a little bit concerned when dad went into the home that he wouldn't settle. Nothing would be further from the truth.
He has settled very well and seems to be enjoying what he has left of his life. I'm sure the staff will fully know who I'm on about when I say that he can be heard singing most days.
The staff do a grand job if he's nice to see him in good spirit every time I visit.

Well done to all involved and thank you for caring.

My cousin has settled in very well. He enjoys the food which is a big plus. Bill has never been at ease joining in with things so I'm pleased he has been enouraged to participate in some activities. All the staff are friendly + caring. The only improvement could be the lay out of residents lounge and dining areas which seem a bit cramped. A very good, well run home. Reassuring to know Bill is looked after well.
