My mum had a stay at Hazeldell for respite care. The decision to send mum to Hazeldell came at a very stressful time for our family but was made easier by the incredibly friendly and helpful staff who showed us around and explained much of the technicalities of the stay. There was never a question they
couldn't answer for us.
Mum found the transition to care very difficult and it was a real worry for the family. However, the staff at Hazeldell were so very caring and always kept us well informed as to how mum was getting on. Nothing was too much trouble for us.
While mum was there she was actively encouraged to engage in activities which were always available. The singers were a particular favorite of mum's. The food was always good.
I would thoroughly recommend Hazeldell as a lovely place if anyone was thinking of a home for a loved one.

Bringing dad to Firstlings and watching him settle has taken a massive pressure off me and my family. I love the way the staff interact with the residents. It feels like a proper homely home. There is good communication between the management and the family, which is comforting. If I had to go into
a home, this would be my 1st choice for myself to reside in.

As a family, we have been very impressed with the standard of care at Firstlings. All the staff have been extremely kind and caring towards Dad. Dad loves the food and the interaction with friendly staff. Dad is also enjoying chatting with other residents and the social side of this very happy place.
A particular member of staff does so well, as does everybody else, motivating residents.

This care home is absolutely fantastic they go above and beyond to make sure that my mother is cared for at all times.

Nothing is too much trouble for them even asking her what she would like for meals making cakes for her popping in all through the day to make sure she is comfortable and spending

time chatting with her.

Every time I go in, I'm offered a drink and I quite often like to talk to some of the other residents in there and sometimes I will take my dogs in which is always a hit with most of the residents.

My mother in law was admitted to Milton Lodge in November 2024 and from the moment she arrived we were made to feel welcomed by the Management and staff
She has settled in really well and we can't fault the care and attention she receives as she can be a little difficult at times. The activities they
supply is suited to the abilities of the residents which in turn shows the engagement and enjoyment from the daily news letters we receive. Anybody looking for a carehome that specialises in dementia then we highly recommend Milton Lodge. Thank you everyone

My cousin is so well cared for and a popular resident. She has resided at Brook House for just over a year. On first entering the care home, she was frightened and disorientated, but has become calm and happy in her environment, always partaking in entertainment in house and lovely trips to choir in
Halstead and the lunches out and the visits to nurseries.

Hardwick Dene

from C D (Daughter of Resident) published on 22 April 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

Mum has been a resident at Hardwick Dene for a number of years and we have always been thoroughly delighted with the kind, holistic care that is given to her on a daily basis. More recently, mums needs have changed quite dramatically which has been difficult to witness, but the response by the Hardwick
Dene staff to review, respond and meet her new needs is an enormous comfort to me. The upbeat, cheery, positive nature of the staff who help mum with her daily personal care and well being is heart warming, as her dignity is always preserved and humour challenged! I have peace of mind knowing that Hardwick Dene's communication is excellent to keep me informed and likewise I can make requests which are always actioned. The upkeep and cleanliness of mums room is also worth noting and celebrating. Thank you Hardwick Dene!

Hazeldell

from Paula G (Sister-in-law of Resident) published on 16 April 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

My brother-in- law has been a resident of Hazeldell for 2.5 years. I have a high regard for the entire team at Hazeldell, and I am speaking as a someone with high expectations and ex-manager of a home for people with dementia. I think the Team often goes above and beyond to give people with dementia
a sense of security, self-agency and purpose. My brother-in-law rather surprisingly he felt at home there very quickly after his admission and his quality of life is much improved. The range of activities provided, and support to engage in those activities, is impressive. Communication with family is impressive too.

The staff of Hazeldell make visitors and residents feel comfortable and included. I always find them helpful and in good cheer.

Walking into this care home instantly feels you the warmth you'd expect the residents to get. It feels like home. Mum is cared for, and I mean all her needs are met. Medication, food, all health general daily care. All updates are fed back to us as required. The staff are amazing. The manager goes above
and beyond what is expected of her duties to help. We couldn't ask for better for mum

Hardwick Dene

from Gaius D (Son of Resident) published on 16 April 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

Since moving into Hardwick Dene, my mother has been very well cared for and is far more content than she has ever been since my father died six years ago. My mother's room and the communal spaces are always clean and tidy. The staff pull out all the stops to ensure that the residents are safe and content
at all times. There are a broad range of one-off and regular activities at the home (e.g., quizzes, musical performances, cookery classes, visiting zoos, exercise classes, events in the tranquil grounds) and residents have ample opportunity to partake in preening sessions (e.g., manicure, pedicure, hair-dressing). The standard and the variety of the meals served to the residents is excellent, and the tea trolley comes around regularly - much to everyone's delight. It's very obvious that the staff get a lot of pleasure from their work. I enjoy visiting my mother and interacting with the staff and the other residents, there's never a dull moment!

Brook House

from Sonia P (Daughter of Resident) published on 4 April 2025

My parents were finding it increasingly difficult to cope with being on their own at home. It was upsetting to see them scared and confused so we made the decision to find a care home which would suit their needs.

From our first meeting at Brook House, both the Manager and Deputy Manager have been

so helpful. They totally understood our needs as well my parents and they went out of their way to find rooms which would suit my parents thus allowing them to carry on as if they were still in their own home.

The entire home is light and airy, spotlessly clean and a joy to be in. Every member of staff we have met has been happy in their work and very friendly and helpful.

The Manager and Deputy Manager have been incredibly supportive during recent weeks and have helped my Dad and myself through what has been a difficult time ....really over and above the call of duty. The Entertainments coordinator has been an absolute star getting my Dad to join in activities and keeping him busy.

Reply from Ppatricia French, Registered Manager at Brook House
