Mum has now been at Milton Lodge for 2 years. The staff have always been very friendly and have a very caring and positive attitude. Mum hasn't always been the easiest of residents but has always been treated with respect and dignity. Mum has declined considerably in the last 6 months and spends most
of her time in her bedroom. Having said this staff still include her, when she is willing, in day-to-day activities. Despite the decline mum is happy and settled. Thank you everyone.

My mother has now resided at Milton Lodge for 6 months. It is a very caring home. Mum is well looked after. Staff are attentive and listen to family members about concerns and queries. Staff and management are very approachable and respond to emails and phone calls, as well as in person. Milton Lodge
has a friendly atmosphere. I attended the summer BBQ party, which was well run and a great chance to talk to other families linked to ML.
I am very happy Mum is at this residential home.

My dad has been happy, safe and well cared for over the past 18 months. He recently passed away in the home and the manager and staff all made sure that dad was kept pain free and comfortable in his final days. We cannot thank the staff enough for everything they did not only for dad but for us as a
family also.

This home Has done so much to help my mother its unbelievable. Every member of staff is so wonderful and caring, and I'm welcomed openly every time I visit I could not recommend this Home more. Even the chef goes in and sees my mum and asks what she'd like to eat so accommodating.

A friendly and kind atmosphere when you arrive. Hard-working carers/cleaners/activities personnel/ chef/ Across every aspect within the home. They care about their residents and do their best to keep them all comfortable and happy. A wonderful team working together and helping the relatives feel relaxed
and happy too. A great home for my mum as with her dementia can find it difficult, but they are patient and work around her to keep her happy and comfortable within her environment

My mother in law has been in the home for a year now. We as a family have always been pleased with the care, the staffs attitudes towards the residents, the environment and the activities programme. The management are very approachable and will always endeavour to assist where they can. My mother in
law has settled in very well and we can't thank Milton Lodge for their love, support and guidance for her continued care. Keep up the excellent work.

Brook House

from Michelle E (Daughter of Resident) published on 18 August 2025

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
Before June this year, my mum, who has Vascular Dementia, was struggling immensely. She was a prisoner in her own home, scared to go out, and just barely existing. It was heartbreaking to see your loved one who had always been so strong, bubbly, and independent, deteriorate so quickly. She was not coping
with being alone at home, she was scared and couldn't sleep. After much consideration, we decided that it was time for her to move into a care home, hoping she could "live" again. We had a shortlist of ten homes around the Essex area, which we narrowed down to four. From the very first phone call to Brook House, we knew we had made the right choice. The Deputy Manager, did not know my mum but took the time to ask about her and her needs and genuinely cared, which was truly priceless. The transformation in my mum since moving here has been nothing short of miraculous. She is now so full of life and looks ten years younger. She has made friends and participates in the activities.
Reply from Patricia French, Registered Manager at Brook HouseThank you for your glowing review of the care provided at Brook House. It is a joy and privilege to support and see those living with dementia enjoying a fulfilling daily life.

Bringing dad to Firstlings and watching him settle has taken a massive pressure off me and my family. I love the way the staff interact with the residents. It feels like a proper homely home. There is good communication between the management and the family, which is comforting. If I had to go into
a home, this would be my 1st choice for myself to reside in.
