Prince Edward Duke of Kent Court sits in the beautiful countryside of Essex, in a Grade II listed property with stunning period features dating back to 1825. The Home provides residential care and residential dementia support for up to 50 residents.

Residents can enjoy beautiful surrounding grounds which includes a golf course, woodlands, a walled garden and an inner courtyard. The Home has two golf buggies (one specially adapted for wheelchair use) used as Safari Shuttles.

The level of care each person receives will depend on their individual needs. This is continuously monitored and reviewed to ensure each person receives the right level of care. Please contact the home for further information.

Our care fees for self-funded and local authority funded residents are subject to a preadmission needs assessment which is a requirement of admission, so the Home can fully understand the level of care and support required by each individual. The prices quoted are weekly and for guidance only. They will be confirmed following a full assessment. Respite care may be offered and is usually 10% above the permanent care fees, subject to availability and will depend on an assessment of a person’s care needs.

The permanent staff are very good but they are few. The home seems to have been relying heavily on agency.

We were desperate, mum had gone into a home but not worked out Prince Edward Duke of Kent been the first choice went with second choice as close for visits. Understanding Deputy Manager arranged quick assessment and asked mum's needs to make her happy with no distress to mum. Next day spoke to the Relationship
Manager, started the admission and had moving date within a few days. Change worries mum so said we're going for a drive then to a new room looking over the garden. Went smoothly, and mum happily viewed room. Invited for tea in the garden, mum loved it. Two carers made mum welcome, we were able to prepare the room. Mum introduced to other residents then to the dining room, care taken to seat with a lady known to like a chat. Mum was not upset when we left, and seemed happy, seemed to have a calming effect.
That was Tuesday thought would leave a few days to adjust, invited to call anytime, and given positive news when we have. Mum thinks she is too shy to make friends, told she's made some already.

I have been really pleased with how well my mum has settled into the care home since she was admitted in March 2022 after what was a horrendous six months for her, prior to that, both at her home and in various hospitals. She feels safe, loved and looked after by everyone there. The team are so thoughtful,
compassionate and attentive. Mum says the food is amazing and she especially likes the roast every Sunday! With her own chair, pictures and ornaments, Mum says her room feels like home and she has help and support on hand 24/7. That also gives me peace of mind that she is in very safe hands. It has certainly exceeded my expectations.

My mother has completely changed in a positive way since becoming a resident. The care, support, respect, interaction, cleanliness and food are excellent. Everybody goes out of their way to help and meet her needs in a wonderful location. Activities and entertainment are unbelievable, both in terms
of social interaction and cognitive. In addition, I and the family have been supported and guided through emotional times. It’s one big loving family in a large family house! In these strange times, the staff have risen to the challenges in a very professional way always with residents' safety and care in mind.

The care my mother has received since becoming a permanent resident in November 2019 has been amazing. I cannot find one single word or comment to fault the care. I am so grateful that she is safe and being loved and looked after. I miss not being able to hug and talk to her and hold her hand but the

I am pleased to say that my elderly mum is spending a second spell in Stisted enjoying excellent respite care. This is a particularly challenging time for all of us at the moment due to Covid but I cannot imagine any other facility that could offer her better care and support than Prince Edward Duke
of Kent Court.

My mother has received and continues to receive excellent care from the caring and professional staff at Prince Edward Duke of Kent Court, Stisted Hall. They were particularly proactive in ensuring robust protection measures were put in place to safeguard their residents and staff during the early days
of the pandemic and these measures continue to be enforced and enhanced as the situation develops. Although it has been a very difficult year when I have hardly been able to see my mother at all due to cross border travel restrictions, it is comforting to know she is in safe and caring hands. It is lovely to see pictures posted on social media of my mother enjoying activities and interacting with the other residents.

Prince Edward Duke of Kent Court, from the first moment I rang for an enquiry I was treated with the utmost respect, it is not easy sending a loved one away to be cared for, but I'm so glad I did. My mum is getting the most amazing care, the staff go way beyond anything I could ever imagine. Truly amazing
people, I have spent 10 years myself caring in homes and in the community looking after the elderly, and I must say from what I have seen, and what my mum tells me, us as a family are so lucky to have got mum into the care of this home, truly amazing! Thank you, RMBI and Prince Edward Duke of Kent Court for everything, 5 stars without a doubt!

The home has taken extremely good care of both of my parents - unfortunately, my father has passed away, but my mother continues to enjoy living in the home. It puts our minds at rest to know that she is so well cared for, especially during such difficult times.

My mother entered Stisted Hall in April 2020 and is extremely well cared for by staff who constantly go the extra mile for the residents especially in these difficult times of pandemic. The home is situated in beautiful grounds and residents are taken around these, the Golf Course and through the Safari
Trail in the woods on an 8 seater buggy. The new visitor pods enable safe visiting to take place and appointments are booked online. There are lots of activities taking place, including a weekly inter home quiz online in which relatives and friends can join in and see their loved ones. It gives me huge peace of mind that Mum is well cared for in safe hands 24/7. The staff here are genuinely caring, supportive, progressive and always open to ideas and suggestions. I am extremely grateful to everyone at Stisted Hall for enabling Mum to enjoy quality care with dignity.

My time has been very comfortable. My room was perfectly comfortable, superbly clean and the decoration was very up to date. I understand it had been redecorated recently, as all the bedrooms have. There was everything I needed even a plug on the mirror for my toothbrush and razor. They had thought
of everything. The security at the home was as good as you would expect. Requesting for help or emergency assistance was all there and efficient. The food was a good choice especially the desserts. Activities included going out on the shuttle, an eight-seater golf buggy. You get to go out without having to walk miles, around the grounds and even around the golf course. There were even evening activities like quizzes but I’m not really into them. Nothing was too much trouble and the staff were very helpful and efficient. They even sorted out my hearing aids. Being a friend of the home, volunteering and driving for them, I am pleased to say how much I have enjoyed it. Home from home.

A wonderful venue with caring and professional staff, lots to do even during the pandemic. Safe meeting pods allow visits to be conducted. Food is excellent with a wide choice on offer. Wonderful grounds are regularly explored by the new home buggy which takes the residents on animal trails through
the woods.

The home has always had very good standards but since the new manager has been at the Home she has done wonders in updating facilities and activities for the residents. My mother especially enjoys the jaunts in the new safari bus acquired by the home this summer. The entire team of staff have excelled
during the Covid crisis, keeping all our loved ones safe. I would highly recommend Stisted Hall.

My mother has been a resident of Prince Edward Duke of Kent Court for over 3 years. I can highly recommend it. The staff are so caring and engaged with the residents that it really does give the atmosphere of the home. As I live overseas I am only able to visit once a year, but when I do the staff all
make me very welcome and it is lovely to be able to spend whole days with mum and share mealtimes with her. The Facebook page the management have created is a wonderful way of keeping updated on the wide variety of activities and events organised for the residents and to see mum participating. Especially in this time of isolation, it is comforting to know that mum is being so well looked after.

I would like to thank the staff who do an amazing job with both my mum and dad, who are in different wings of the care home, even more so at these particularly trying times. The visiting Pods are a fantastic idea and allow me and my sister to visit on a regular basis.

My father has been in the home for respite care at the age of 92 years. It was an easy process to apply for his place - he is self-funding. The home were very helpful and within 48 hours we took him for his stay. He is happy, safe and being cared for very well. He looks happier than he has for a long
time. We are able to visit the COVID safe pod which is bookable online. We can communicate with him on the phone and feel very confident in the staff.

I am posting this review for July 2020 as my Aunt was 90 years old this month. Originally we had planned a small family gathering at the home to celebrate this milestone birthday, this was with the full cooperation of the home who were going to arrange afternoon tea at a very reasonable price, and they
very kindly offered to contribute her birthday cake. Unfortunately, COVID-19 put paid to all of that, and we were faced with no celebrations until the home stepped up, and arranged not only a cake but gifts, cards, singing and a video call. Despite my aunt having Dementia she clearly thoroughly enjoyed every single minute. This is only one situation where the staff at Stisted go over and above the norm, I have never encountered staff who show such care and devotion to all the very precious family members in their care, this is not just a job to them, it is a calling. Families can feel safe entrusting the care of their loved ones to PEDKC.

My lovely mum had been a resident for four and a half years. She was really happy and settled and, as a family, we felt confident and assured that her developing needs were being fully met. Over the last few months, she had become increasingly frail and Parkinson's disease had taken its toll. The staff
were always very upbeat and Mum thoroughly enjoyed her chats with them - she maintained her sense of humour! Mum sadly passed away at the end of August. The staff were extremely professional and supportive throughout her final few days and showed love and sensitivity to both Mum and myself at a very difficult time. I would not hesitate to recommend this home.

My mother has been in Prince Edward Duke of Kent Court for one year. My mother is very happy, well cared for, and content. Great meals and beautifully served in an attractive dining room. There are plenty of entertainments e.g. a Caribbean day, with steel band and menu. A Welsh day, with residents,
making Welsh cakes, Welsh Rabbit, and Leeks on the menu. They have a large golf buggy and regularly take residents for a drive around the beautiful golf course and village.

When I wanted a fresh challenge, I thought I’d explore working for the RMBI Care Co. as I’d heard only positive things about its care ethos and support for its teams. I’m very pleased I did.


I’m passionate about providing the highest standards of care and working with the team to maintain Prince Edward Duke of Kent Court's 'Good' rating. Ours is a lovely home to live and work in, with its acres of beautiful gardens set in the middle of a golf course on the outskirts of Braintree, and it’s a huge privilege to work here and be leading the team. We are always striving to deliver professional, and individual care services which make a real difference in the resident's daily lives.


We strive to be Kind, to our residents, their families and each other because we are passionate about how we deliver care. We believe everyone should be treated with dignity and their wishes respected at all times.


We are supportive in our approach to care, placing residents at the heart of all we do. We treat each person as an individual, recognising the things that are important to them and working as a team to achieve this.


We are trusted, open and honest in delivering care to Freemasons, their dependents and the wider communities and work closely with our residents and their families to offer a safe environment.


In my free time, I like to spend quality time with my grandchildren, eat out and enjoy swimming.

I have worked for the RMBI for just over 18 years, it is a fantastic organisation to work for. The home is an amazing site to see when you drive up to the home through the golf course and the home emerges through the trees.


I started here as a carer and then slowly progressed to more senior positions over the years in supporting and meeting the needs of all of our residents in a positive and person-centred way, ensuring that we provide care to a high standard. The residents are at the centre of all we do to ensure that their time here is a happy and fulfilling one.


I feel privileged to have met and known so many of our past and present residents, getting to know what they used to do growing up and meeting their extended families.


It is always lovely to see families return when we have events that support the home.


We strive to embed our values of KInd, support and Trust towards all our residents, families and staff alike.


The home has a really happy feel to it and is much like home from home.
