Prince Edward Duke of Kent Court sits in the beautiful countryside of Essex, in a Grade II listed property with stunning period features dating back to 1825. The Home provides residential care and residential dementia support for up to 50 residents.

Residents can enjoy beautiful surrounding grounds which includes a golf course, woodlands, a walled garden and an inner courtyard. The Home has two golf buggies (one specially adapted for wheelchair use) used as Safari Shuttles.

If you are lucky enough to be able to have a relative in this home, you will not be disappointed. I have both parents in the home, my mother is in the final stages of Alzheimer's and she has been looked after so well, with care and love. Not being able to see her during the Covid-19 times has been
hard, but knowing where she is with the amazing staff who care for her, makes it so much easier.
My dad who is the main house loves it and honestly forgets he's in a care home and believes he is in a 5-star hotel with great views and restaurants!
Couldn't be happier.

My Mother-in-law has been here for 2 years. She is very well looked after by the friendly and caring staff. There are many activities on offer, an exceptional building and beautiful gardens to enjoy. Despite her dementia, she has thrived and is always eager to join in. Couldn't recommend more highly.

It's a heartbreaking decision when you know it's time your loved one was cared for professionally. I took that decision last year.
I can honestly say that my darling husband is happy and content. He is extremely well looked after. The cooking is a big bonus for him because he loves his food. There
is always something going on for the residents and I can't thank them enough for the way they have handled the coronavirus issues. The residents are still having fun, probably more than the rest of us. Experts say carers wait too long for help. I did. Don't wait to get help. It's still heartbreaking but it is the perfect solution for My man.

Found the home very welcoming comfortable with the caring of Residents paramount.
Staff very approachable making the whole demeanour of this home a pleasure to visit. Great emphasis on activities for residents including regular visits out, including afternoon tea at the Local Golf Club.

My brother-in-law became a resident of Prince Edward Duke of Kent Court, Stisted Hall, because he had the early stages of dementia, almost 5 years ago. His dementia deteriorated after 2 years and was transferred to their dementia unit. Sadly his dementia deteriorated quite dramatically in October last
year and had to be transferred to an NHS unit. During all his time at the home he was treated like ‘one of the family’, with kindness and support as well as compassion and high-quality care. His family will forever be grateful to all the staff at Stisted in how he was cared for and the love and kindness he received. It was a difficult time for his family when it became necessary for him to leave, in order that he could receive the care he now needed, but this transition was dealt with by all the staff and management professionals, with compassion and care. We shall forever be grateful to the wonderful kind and caring staff and we shall miss them all because they became our friends.

Our Mum has been at Prince Edward Duke of Kent Court for 3 years and has enjoyed the company of other residents and the whole team of support there. Recently, she has been admitted to hospital twice and each time a carer has kindly travelled with her and we have met them at the hospital. It is comforting
to know that Mum was not just sent to the hospital alone. Mum enjoys the activities that are varied and regular. In general, it is well managed, has friendly carers (badges would be helpful in some cases), fun/caring atmosphere, grand property and beautiful surrounds kept up to date.
Mum's wish was to be taken to a Winery for a 'tasting' and 'slap-up meal' which was granted and she enjoyed every second. Such a special treat. Thank you, everyone, at Prince Edward Duke of Kent Court.

My mum has been a resident since May 2019 (suffering from mixed Dementia - Alzheimer's/Vascular) in the elderly care part of Stisted Hall. Unfortunately, within a few months, due to her dementia worsening quickly, she has been moved to the Morchlyn side of the home for specialist dementia care. She
has settled well there and is generally happy, allowing for her condition. She smiles and laughs as much as possible and she is socialising with new friends which has helped her mentally. The staff have been brilliant. They are committed and caring and organise activities for the residents. Sometimes we have lunch with Mum in the Morchlyn restaurant and can vouch for the food is very good. You even get a glass of wine or other drink from bar if you want it. A big thank you to all at Prince Edward Duke of Kent Court and the Royal Masonic Benevolent Institution.

My 87 year old mother (with Alzheimer's) moved into Stisted Hall in 2018. In less than 12 months she is a different person. She has her energy back, she smiles and laughs again. Her dementia is less of an issue and she is socialising with new friends which has helped her mental state.
The staff have
been wonderful. They are committed and caring and organise many activities for the residents. I can't praise them highly enough.

Where else do the carers, ( employees ) ask the residents of a wish, something they would like to fulfil? This is where Prince Edward Duke of Kent Court go the further mile. My mother's wish was to go out to an Indian restaurant to have a curry as this was her favourite food and has been for years and
years. My mum has not stopped talking about it and is doing it again this week and is looking forward to it. Other residents chose all sorts of things, one being to go horse riding, and her wish was granted. There is a family feeling at the home which makes all the difference. The carers make you feel like you are at home, offering cups of tea and cake etc. It's one of the hardest things to do placing a member of your family in a home, however, the staff at this home makes it easier for you, which takes away the guilt that you are feeling.

My 99 and a half-year-old Mother who has been resident in the home for the past 5 years has been looked after by the staff superbly since she took up residence.
Besides going in every week to visit my Mother I am also a volunteer driver so see the Home at all times during the day.
The Home is well
appointed, clean and well decorated and looked after by the RMBI and The Friends of Prince Edward Duke of Kent Court.
For those able, outings to the beach, shopping and other activities are laid on.
I am sure that my Mother wouldn't have survived as long as she has if it hadn't have been for the care she has received.

The home is divided into two; the main building where the fixtures and fittings are more grand, albeit rather tired and the former stable block which is known as the Mauchline building which houses residents with dementia. There is an activity programme in the main building on weekdays. However, due
to the layout, it is often difficult to find staff and even know who they are because they don't wear a uniform and only a few wear name badges. The choice and quality of food is very good and visitors can book a lunch in advance.


The Mauchline building consists of a long, glass corridor area which is cold in winter and very hot in summer. There is a small lounge and dining area for residents but staff are not always present or available when residents require assistance. The residents need more support but the staff ratio does not reflect this.

It was such a difficult time when my Gran had to go into a home. We couldn't have wished for a nicer place for our Gran to be, if not at home with us. Stisted Hall (Prince Edward Duke of Kent Court) is beautiful and all the staff are friendly and so kind to my Gran, especially her Care Support Worker.
My Gran always speaks highly about everyone. The cleanliness is very good and the activities that take place are excellent. Thank you for taking such good care of my Gran. I couldn't recommend this home enough.

When I wanted a fresh challenge, I thought I’d explore working for the RMBI Care Co. as I’d heard only positive things about its care ethos and support for its teams. I’m very pleased I did.


I’m passionate about providing the highest standards of care and working with the team to maintain Prince Edward Duke of Kent Court's 'Good' rating. Ours is a lovely home to live and work in, with its acres of beautiful gardens set in the middle of a golf course on the outskirts of Braintree, and it’s a huge privilege to work here and be leading the team. We are always striving to deliver professional, and individual care services which make a real difference in the resident's daily lives.


We strive to be Kind, to our residents, their families and each other because we are passionate about how we deliver care. We believe everyone should be treated with dignity and their wishes respected at all times.


We are supportive in our approach to care, placing residents at the heart of all we do. We treat each person as an individual, recognising the things that are important to them and working as a team to achieve this.


We are trusted, open and honest in delivering care to Freemasons, their dependents and the wider communities and work closely with our residents and their families to offer a safe environment.


In my free time, I like to spend quality time with my grandchildren, eat out and enjoy swimming.

I have worked for the RMBI for just over 18 years, it is a fantastic organisation to work for. The home is an amazing site to see when you drive up to the home through the golf course and the home emerges through the trees.


I started here as a carer and then slowly progressed to more senior positions over the years in supporting and meeting the needs of all of our residents in a positive and person-centred way, ensuring that we provide care to a high standard. The residents are at the centre of all we do to ensure that their time here is a happy and fulfilling one.


I feel privileged to have met and known so many of our past and present residents, getting to know what they used to do growing up and meeting their extended families.


It is always lovely to see families return when we have events that support the home.


We strive to embed our values of KInd, support and Trust towards all our residents, families and staff alike.


The home has a really happy feel to it and is much like home from home.
