Kathryn Court is a comfortable and friendly care home in the heart of Shoeburyness, Essex.

This 52-bed Runwood Homes facility provides expert care for older people, including those living with dementia, and has been voted by residents and their families as one of the Top 20 care homes in East England. As well as being part of the 'dementia action alliance', they strive to create a homely environment by providing all the comforts of good food, good company and friendly staff.

Residents frequently take trips out and whilst at home the house is transformed into a hive of activity to ensure that residents remain stimulated and engaged, with their individual hobbies and needs taken into account, including movie matinee with popcorn and snacks, bingo, quizzes, board games and many more.

The atmosphere wraps itself around visitors when entering the foyer and the warm and friendly experience just grows from there. Comfortable lounges, staff interested in all the residents have to do and say and home-cooked meals. All bedrooms are beautifully furnished with en-suite bathrooms and excellent amenities.

There is a dedicated area for dementia care, designed to enable those cared for to maintain their dignity and independence in a safe environment.

My mum has been here since Oct 24, I've found the home to be so clean and always smell so fresh. The place is decorated in lovely bright colours chairs and beds are so comfortable. Staff are amazing, so friendly. I would highly recommend this home. Activities amazing and daily 11am worktools down such

Our mother has been a resident of Kathryn Court for nearly a year now. When looking at other homes Kathryn Court was our first choice. The staff are always very welcoming, the home spotlessly clean and always plenty of activities for the residents to do. With the help of the management and staff our

The home has improved since the current manager came back to the home as manager.
The staff appears to be more settled and content. My mum's care has improved and if I mention an issue it has been dealt with immediately.
She gas drinks and her juice beaker is there with her all the time now. All the
staff are documenting what type of stool she's passing.
She is walking to her wheelchair instead of just turning around into it.

My personal overview of the home is that Dad is very well cared for, he gets all he needs and more.
I will mention home has a very welcoming manager she is really nice and the home is so much better. I hear lots of laughter and good things are happening we also have a new deputy who is also very nice,

I visited my friend several times a week. My visits were frequent but short. I found the staff and the general environment to be pleasant and adequate, sometimes his table was sticky but any attempt by him to eat or drink would result in spillage. Expecting constant and immediate cleaning would be unrealistic.
Would I be pleased to spend my final days at Kathryn Court? Yes, I would.

Overall Kathryn Court is good - Mum has only been there for a few months and unfortunately, there are so many dementia patients. Mum will not come out of her room due to the fact that the dementia patients keep coming and opening her draws.

My wife has been a full-time resident since September 2021. For the first two years the management (manager/assistant/admin) were a team that had worked together for a number of years. During 2024 the team was split up due to members being promoted and relocated. This naturally had an effect on the
overall operation of the new management team. Many of the care staff were experienced old hands and the smooth running of Kathryn Court continues. I visit and lunch with my wife 3-4 times weekly and my overall personal experience is excellent as reflected herein.

Obviously, moving my mother into a care home is a daunting experience, but I felt totally comfortable and confident moving her into Kathryn Court. The staff are all very welcoming and friendly and I felt no worries leaving Mum there. The facilities are clean and bright and everyone is very helpful.

I can't thank the staff at Katherine Court enough, my mum has been there just over a year now she suffers from dementia, recently she had a fall (no fault of the staff) happened early hours of the morning as she was trying to put her tv on, she fractured her hip. From the moment she fell the staff contacted
me and kept me updated until I met her in hospital, since she has returned they have managed to get her walking with a frame and helped her gain the weight back she lost in hospital, she is so happy there they are all amazing.
