Kathryn Court is a comfortable and friendly care home in the heart of Shoeburyness, Essex.

This 52-bed Runwood Homes facility provides expert care for older people, including those living with dementia, and has been voted by residents and their families as one of the Top 20 care homes in East England. As well as being part of the 'dementia action alliance', they strive to create a homely environment by providing all the comforts of good food, good company and friendly staff.

Residents frequently take trips out and whilst at home the house is transformed into a hive of activity to ensure that residents remain stimulated and engaged, with their individual hobbies and needs taken into account, including movie matinee with popcorn and snacks, bingo, quizzes, board games and many more.

The atmosphere wraps itself around visitors when entering the foyer and the warm and friendly experience just grows from there. Comfortable lounges, staff interested in all the residents have to do and say and home-cooked meals. All bedrooms are beautifully furnished with en-suite bathrooms and excellent amenities.

There is a dedicated area for dementia care, designed to enable those cared for to maintain their dignity and independence in a safe environment.

My family were in a stressed and upset situation trying to care for my mother after she had a fall which left her unable to walk and immobile. My father did his very best but was at breaking point. Finding Kathryn Court and being offered a room was such a relief because we read the good reviews and
were impressed on our initial visit. But, over the two years, my mother lived there, it was the family atmosphere and genuine care shown by all the amazing staff there which was obvious. From the excellent manager down to every carer and housekeeping staff. Thank you Kathryn Court for caring for my mother so well in her final years.

Our aunt became a resident of Kathryn Court in May 2016 following a fall and hospital admissions. She had until this time, lived in her own home with the help of carers. We were extremely lucky to find a vacancy at Kathryn Court. Our Aunt became increasingly confused over time due to her dementia but
would constantly ask me "is this a hotel?" To which I would reply "yes it's 5 stars!"


The care and kindness she received whilst at Kathryn Court was second to none and we, as a family, cannot thank or praise all the staff enough for everything they did for her. We were always made very welcome on our regular visits to what had become "aunties home."

My mother-in-law became a resident at Kathryn Court in September 2016 following a diagnosis of early onset of Alzheimer's at the age of 62 and a rapid deterioration. The staff at the home were very supportive to us and my mother-in-law and helped her to settle quickly into her new surroundings. They
have helped provide activities etc appropriate for her age and interest. Staff are very friendly and approachable and deal with any issues swiftly

Whenever I come in the staff are very warm and welcoming. The place is always spotless. The food looks delicious. My mum is always happy when we see her and whenever we come to see her they are always doing activities with her.

Mum has lived in Kathryn Court for three and a half years. It is a wonderful residence (I have visited several care homes in the South East Essex region when I worked in medicine distribution for several years) where the staff are friendly, kind and patient.
Most importantly there is a real togetherness
within the home, developed and closely monitored by the manager. Her influence runs throughout the home and strikes a perfect balance between being a happy and caring place for the residents, staff and visitors. Our family can't thank the team enough.

My mother came to Kathryn Court around March this year. I have been really worried about her for the last year or so with her eating and medication etc... Kathryn Court is amazing and the staff are fantastic. My mother absolutely loves living here. She constantly tells me how lovely the staff are and
she loves the food and the company. She regularly goes out on organised trips and afternoon tea and is the happiest I have seen her in many years. This has been a godsend to us and our family. Thank you.

We have always been treated with courtesy, interest and respect. My aunt was a resident at Kathryn Court nearly 10 years ago and was extremely well looked after and cared for even when seriously ill in the last few months of her life. Kathryn Court was the natural choice of care home for my step-father.
He was kindly received and helped to settle in and is very happy with the way in which he is looked after, fed well with varied 'home-cooked' meals and always treated with respect.

Its a home from home for mum, but it also gives the professional care I can't and the 24 hour a day care my mum needs. Mum loves her room and the staff are 2nd to none and I truly believe if mum wasn't at Kathryn Court, she wouldn't be here now with us.

As soon as we walked in we knew this was where we wanted mum to be. The home is obviously extremely well managed and the staff highly motivated. All of the residents we meet seem content and happy. Residents every need is catered for. All of our questions and worries have been brilliantly resolved by
the manager and her staff, all of whom have always been polite and gone "the extra mile" consistently. Couldn't ask for a better place for mum to be.

My mother has been a resident of Kathryn Court for 9 years and has been wonderfully looked after. Her condition is remarkable- she's 91 and has not deteriorated because the staff are so attentive, efficient and friendly. They come promptly when she rings, her room is properly cleaned each day, the meals
are well planned and portions a good size. On occasions when she has been ill, they have swiftly contacted medical services. I would also say that the atmosphere is happy and friendly- it's noticeable every time I visit.
