The care home situated on the east side of Southend is easy to find with adequate parking. The reception staff are very approachable and are always aware of the residents' conditions and location within the residence. The staff are very friendly and consisderate and put on activites most weeks.Today there is a BBQ. Mum seems to be quite happy and knows she is being well looked after.
My review about Whittingham House is nothing but excellent all the way round.
Thank you so much for your wonderful 5-star review. We are delighted to hear that your experience at Whittingham House has been "nothing but excellent all the way round." I will be sure to share your lovely feedback with the team, who will truly appreciate your comments.
The staff and management team are really really amazing. They all know everyone's name from family to residents and who your related to. They all look after my mum with upmost care and respect, even though she may not interact very much but she happy. I do feel mums room could do with a paint job as a bit tired but generally all good.
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are delighted to hear that you find our home easy to access and that our reception team is approachable and well-informed about residents' wellbeing. Your kind words mean a great deal to us, and we will be sure to share your feedback with the entire team. Thank you for your continued trust and support.
I have been here for respite care since mid December 2025. The staff, nurses & carers are kind & considerate at all times. All are hard working. Well done.
Thank you so much for your kind words and for taking the time to share your experience. Were delighted to hear that youve felt well cared for and supported by our team during your respite stay.
Since my dad's been here he's been very happy and stable. There's lots of activities going on and he participates in all of them. When he was at home he just sat in front of the TV. The staff are wonderful, they take care and genuinely enjoy doing so. The home is spotless and food is 10/10. I'm so happy he's here.
Thank you for your lovely review. Were so pleased to hear that your dad is happy, settled, and enjoying the activities.
Your kind words about our staff, cleanliness, and food mean a lot to the whole team. Were delighted that you feel happy knowing hes here with us.
I like doing karaoke and bingo and parties. I like the food.
Since arriving at Whittingham House, this establishment has exeeded all my expectations and am totally satisfied and contented with the services provided. All staff are dedicated and committed across the wife range of nationalities employed here, sometimes dealing with, at times, rather challenging situations.
Mother-in-law returned for 2 weeks of respite care as before; she was greeted warmly and welcomed back by all the staff. She looked well on our visit to collect her and return her home. Cannot fault the care provided. Thank you.
Thank you for your kind words. It is always nice to have Janet back. Everyone is pleased to see her, and we can only hope that she had a good two weeks' respite with us.
My wife has been at Whittingham House for over eighteen months. The management and staff are always helpful. To me it seems there is a very good cleanliness regime. I visit my wife regularly and I have always been reassured that she is being well card for.
Generally very good and homely. Sometimes there seems to be a lack of staff upstairs.
The manager always keeps me fully informed of any issues and I feel confident that my brother is being well cared for.
I would have given 5 stars but when we looked for a care home, one of the reasons we chose Whittingham House was because the website stated that residents are able to go out to the seafront etc. in the minibus. I have raised this issue in the past and I was told that the minibus was out of action due to mechanical failure. I also raised the issue at one of the residents meetings and was told that Head Office were looking into it. That was the last I heard and as far as I am aware the minibus has still not been repaired.
All in all a very good care home.
Thank you for your feedback. It is unfortunate that our mini bus is unavailable at the moment but we have discussed this with higher management and hopefully this summer we can hire a mini bus to take the residents for outing. We will let you know when this happens.
My partner is happy here which gives me peace of mind and always dressed okay. The staff are lovely always asked if I want a drink when I arrive.
Thank you for your feedback. We appreciate your kind words.
The reason I didn't give 5 stars was the cost of the home.I was told I had to pay a huge bill each month to subsidise all the council patients. This is totally unfair.
I would and have recommended the home to friends.
We appreciate the kind thoughts and compliments. Regarding the fees, we genuinely appreciate your openness. We understand the cost of care is a significant consideration for families, and we want to assure you that we are committed to providing high quality care to our residents regardless of their...
I'll like to thank the staff for the care and hard work that they put in everyday to make the residents feel at home. Our brother seems content to be at the care home and as a family it's comforting to know that our brother is being taken good care of. Never a boring moment because of the various activities that the staff engage with the residents. The smile on their faces, say it all. Thanks for the priceless feedbacks of pictures and video clips of our brother.
Thank you for the kind words. We are glad to know that you are reassured of your brothers welfare. We endeavour to keep up with the good care that we provide to all our residents.
The care provided by home is first class. I am kept informed promptly of any problems by the staff. I am welcomed by all of the staff when I visit and it is clear that contact between my sister in law and the staff is very friendly.
Thank you for such a lovely review. We appreciate the kinds words and as always, your visit are always greeted with warm welcome as you have always been kind and cheerful with everyone.
We feel Whittingham House is safe and secure, and the care taken by all the staff to ensure all residents and relatives feel confident everyone is in safe hands. The leaders are very efficient and professional. Questions and requests are answered quickly and effectively. Their door is always open to relatives, and they are always visible and approachable. We feel all the staff are very caring, kind, attentive, helpful, hardworking, considerate and friendly. They perform all their duties in a professional and effective way. They are extremely helpful and approachable to all the relatives, ensuring we are well looked after. Nothing is too much trouble for them. We are kept informed on our relatives wellbeing. The thoughtful and engaging activities are hugely beneficial. We are very regular visitors and from that gain an extremely positive impression of how Whittingham House is run. We are very happy Mum is there, and we would definitely recommend Whittingham House to other families.
Thank you for such a wonderful review and thank you for all the support. It is a joy to hear all the positive feedback.
I would not hesitate recommending Whittingham House Care Home to others.
PS -
One small thing. It would be most helpful if it was compulsory for all staff to wear a name badge so we are able to identify and share special praise with Management.
Thank you for your kind words. We appreciate the positive experience you had with our team. Your kind words will be shared with the team- they'll be delighted to hear them.
The staff do join in with the activities especially the music ones and party's/events that the home do.
My mum is a private resident and has to pay for her keep there. The charges per week are really too much, so expensive. She doesn't get any different treatment from the other residents either.
Thank you for your positive review regarding the home and staff. Regarding the fees, we genuinely appreciate your openness. We understand the cost of care is a significant consideration for families, and we want to assure you that we are committed to providing high quality care to our residents...
Thanks for all you do x
Thank you for your lovely feedback. We're truly grateful that you've taken the time to share your experience. We will continue to strive to provide the best care not just for your dad but for everyone.
I was dreading putting my mum in a home but due to her complex needs I could no longer put it off. The staff and care provided at Whittingham House are exceptional. They try really hard to give mum the care and attention she needs and the social life is fantastic from karaoke to bingo to regular themed parties. Mum is so happy here I wish I'd moved her a lot earlier.
Thank you for the lovely review and thank you for the trust, and it's always encouraging to hear that this is reflected in your experience.
