From our very first enquiry through to collecting Mum at the end of her stay, every member of the team showed genuine warmth, kindness, and professionalism. The care staff have been outstanding-consistently gentle, respectful, and attentive, always providing support with patience, dignity, and a smile. Their compassionate approach helped Mum feel valued, comfortable, and secure throughout her stay.
Her room was spacious, clean, comfortable, and well maintained, giving her a real sense of home. The atmosphere throughout Barton Lodge is warm, welcoming, and reassuring.
Mum enjoyed the varied programme of activities, especially the talks. The food was another highlight, with an excellent and varied menu that encouraged her to eat well. Regular mealtimes and the opportunity to socialise with other residents in a friendly dining environment brought structure, companionship, and enjoyment to her days.
We cannot recommend Barton Lodge highly enough and are very grateful for the exceptional care and support shown to us both.
We are delighted to hear that your mum's third respite stay was once again such a positive experience, and that you felt reassured knowing she was in safe and caring hands. Your...
The assessment and admission process was managed very efficiently. My parents were very anxious about moving but all of the staff are amazingly kind and welcoming.
The food is excellent. Personal care is delivered discreetly and compassionately. The home is always clean and tidy. I am kept up-to-date with any changes. My phone calls and emails are always dealt with promptly.
Because they are a couple mum and dad tend to keep to themselves but the staff continue to encourage them to join in activities and they now seem to be taking part more often. There are always a variety of activities every week.
Thank you so much to the whole team.
Thank you so much for your kind and thoughtful review.
We understand that moving into care can be a significant transition, especially for couples, so it is wonderful to know that the adjoining rooms have provided the comfort and independence your parents were looking for. Your comments about...
Sadly, my Grandmother was only a resident for less than two weeks before she passed away. However, during that short time, the care she received, was truly exceptional. The team stepped in when we were no longer able to care for her at home, making what was an incredibly difficult decision for us, so much easier.
The end-of-life care was outstanding. As a deputy sister working in a specialist palliative care hospice, I have extensive experience in this area. I never felt the need to disclose my professional background because the staff consistently delivered compassionate, skilled and attentive care, ensuring that my Grandmother remained peaceful, comfortable, and dignified throughout.
The home not only cared for my Grandmother, but for us as a family as well. Nothing was ever too much trouble and I cannot ever thank them enough.
Thank you so much for your incredibly kind and heartfelt words.
We are deeply honoured to have been able to care for your grandmother during such an important time, and we are pleased that you felt confident in the care and support provided. Knowing that she was comfortable,...
He had a lovely welcome back with many of the staff remembering him. It was a reassuring sign to see the friendly familiar faces.
In his short time back there, he has settled in quickly and any worries I had were quickly put to rest.
He is clearly being very well cared for.
Thank you so much for your kind words, it was lovely to see your dad again and he has settled so well.
He is end of life now. He has always had exceptional care & the staff from manager down have always been lovely to myself and my husband.
He is always very clean & they make him very comfortable as he is in bed now 24hrs a day. They also have to feed him with great care
Cannot praise them enough.
Thank you for your kind words Yvonne, will pass them onto the team.
Should the need arise in future I will not hesitate to book in again and will have great confidence recommending B.L to other people
I was struggling to find a suitable care home wit friendly and compassionate staff to provide care for my 94 year old mother. I then had the good fortune to have a friend recommend Barton Lodge Care Home. I cannot praise the manager and her wonderful staff enough. The home is situated in a great location and very professionaly run. I instantly got a homely feeling when I entered the building and was very taken back on how friendly and chatty the residents and staff were. It was very evident that the residents' wellbeing was at the heart of everything. My mother has been at the home for 11 months. I summarise my last conversation with her 'I fell very safe and happy here. The staff cannot be more friendly and accommodating'.
Thank you so very much for your kinds words, will pass these on to the staff.
Mum arrived at Barton Lodge Care Home just after its refurbishment. Immediately I was confident that she would be happy and that has very much been the case. She participates fully in all the activities and I leave after each visit completely confident that she is well cared for. The staff are always positive and cheerful and willing to go the extra mile.
Thank you, will pass your lovely comments onto the staff.
You are always made to feel welcome. The staff make everyone feel like it's 'a home'/ Super care and super support for relatives.
Thank you so much for your kind words. We will pass them onto the team
Our children & Grand children were made welcome and visitors.
Thank you.
Thank you for your kind words, I will pass them on to all the staff.
An ideal place to recover from knee operation, pleasant surroundings, clean comfortable room and communal areas in fact 5 star accommadation! All staff from housekeeping, chef, carers team leaders and management friendly and approachable. Both my mother and husband have been residents here so I felt very much at home and was welcomed as an old friend. Loving care a true description as it does matter here.
Thank you so much for your kind words, I will pass your comments to the team.
The manager and the whole BL team looked after my father, following his kidney operation and nephrostomy in Jan 2025 to get his strength and independence back. My father and we his family were delighted with the quality of care and his overall experience. He only left in May, after 4 months, to be closer to his family in the latter stages of his uretha cancer, to a home in South London; that could offer more comprehensive medical support as his terminal cancer condition deteriorates. Whereas the new home is better suited to his current medical needs, it is notable that the quality, speed of response and genuine affection, attentiveness, care and compassion of the BL staff, and particularly the nurses and all the carers; particularly one carer, but all of them. The staff were much more friendly and caring, to make Dad's stay more comfortable and enjoyable, nothing was too much trouble for them at every interaction. Please accept Dad & his family's heart-felt thanks
Thank you so much for your kind and thoughtful message. We are deeply touched to hear your reflections on your father's time with us at BL, and it truly means a great deal to the entire team to know that we were able to support him and your family during such a challenging period. It was a privilege...
I was at Barton Lodge Care Home between May and October 2024. I was in very poor health when I arrived. Right from the word go, I received amazing attention from the team at Barton Lodge. I had a marvellous five months, taking me from the depths of despair to where I am now, back in my own home. Thanks to the team's close attention and kindness.
Thank you so much for your very kind words. We are here if you ever need help again!
Throughout Mum's stay at Barton Lodge, she was treated with dignity, kindness, and real loving care from all the staff. Every single member of staff that we came into contact with was cheerful, kind, and caring. Staff formed a good relationship with us and kept us fully informed of Mum's care and needs. We felt that all her needs were met and the care home was able to arrange visits from the GP, podiatrist, dentist, and optician.
The quality of the environment was excellent, including the furnishings, activities on offer, and the gardens. The care home was able to give Mum some comfort and peace in her last few weeks and she received excellent care.
Thank you for your kind words, it was an absolute pleasure to look after your mum and even though she was only with us for a couple of months, she is very much missed.
Home in a very good condition and garden a delight to use. Plenty of seating and whole site very secure.
My guests were welcomed and very impressed with the whole situation.
I have had a restful recovery period with no stress.
Well done.
Thank you for your kind words and it was a pleasure to have met you, here if you ever need us again.
Barton Lodge have made my mother feel so welcome during a very difficult time for her. The staff have been so friendly and the manager has given us so much advice and help it's been overwhelming. It's a lovely care home and I'm more than happy that we have gone there.
Thank you, I will pass on your comments to the staff.
My father became a resident at Barton Lodge following a period of daycare during the previous months. He has settled in very well. The staff at Barton have made this experience for both my parents very positive. They have been very kind and caring towards my father as well as being sensitive and respectful towards my mother during this difficult time. The staff are always kind, friendly and supportive.
Thank you for your kind comments, I will pass them on to the team.
Attend Day Care once or twice a month. Very impressed. Excellent care and lovely meals. Staff very friendly and helpful. I look forward to coming. I enjoy the activities especially when there is music and singing.
Thank you for your kind words and we look forward to see you again soon.
My husband has started going to the day centre and is very happy there. I have found all the helpers very kind and understanding. It is difficult for me to comment on the daily routine as he has dementia and doesn't remember what he has done on the day but he comes home quite happy.
Thank you and we look forward to seeing you both again soon.
My husband became a resident in January after having daycare for a couple of months. Thanks to very supportive staff this has been a positive experience both for my husband and myself. The staff have been very caring and considerate towards both of us. I feel very positive that he is being well cared for and all his needs are being met.
Thank you so much for your kind comments, we will pass them on to the team.

Meet the Team (7)

Amanda has been with us since March 2012. She is enthusiastic and approachable with an infectious smile and a sunny disposition! She sets a fantastic example to everyone at the home with her hands-on approach and helps make Barton Lodge the best home in the New-Forest Region.
Amanda holds qualifications in Health and Social Care and has completed her Master’s Degree equivalent, QCF Level 7 accreditation. She is also a Mental Health First Aider, as well as a qualified trainer for safeguarding and a trainer in dementia. She continues to maintain her qualifications and knowledge through attendance at training courses and seminars throughout the year.
In her spare time, Amanda enjoys swimming, aqua-size and cycling. She also has a cat called Smudge, which she is allergic to!

In 2015, Ioana came to the UK for work – she found not just a job, but a home with the Manucourt family. From the very beginning, she was welcomed into a compassionate and respectful team; a community that works hand in hand to provide the highest standard of care.
Over the years, she has grown both personally and professionally within this beautiful collective. Ioana’s goal has always been to help lead our team toward success, fostering an inclusive environment where every individual feels supported, valued, and empowered to contribute.
Ioana was fortunate to bring her husband and son with me from overseas, and today, they are proud to call Barton Lodge their home. As a family, they are deeply committed to caring for our residents, ensuring they feel safe, respected, and truly at home.

Christina joined Barton Lodge in July 2024. She has lived and worked in the UK since 1993 and brings a wealth of experience from a career spanning a variety of office environments. She has led numerous teams over the years, and several of her roles even took her abroad regularly — something she thoroughly enjoyed.
Highly organised and quick to laugh, Christina jokes that she has “a great sense of humour despite being German.” Her warm, approachable nature helps people feel at ease the moment they meet her. After spending 25 years in Worcester, she relocated to the South Coast in 2020. During lockdown, she worked as a companion in a local care home, where she won an award in the ‘Resident Engagement’ category. She loves being part of Barton Lodge, describing it as a big, happy family where everyone looks out for one another.
Christina is married with two stepchildren and six grandchildren. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her family, cycling, walking along the beach, visiting the theatre — especially the opera — and travelling to Germany to see her mum and friends.

Gavin oversees the upkeep of our Home and our wonderful grounds at Barton Lodge. He specialises in landscaping and gardening, which is evident from the beautiful open space we have here. Gavin can turn his hand to just about anything and is a great addition to the team.
In his spare time, Gavin enjoys spending time with his wife and 3 children and getting out for walks in the New Forest. He also enjoys boxing and is an avid Manchester United fan.

Jenny’s first job when she left school was a Window Dresser with a well-known high street fashion retailer. Jenny then went on to achieve a City and Guilds in Floristry and run her own shop in Southbourne for five years. Jenny has NVQs 3 and 4 in Health and Social Care and has worked in a care home setting for more than twenty years. Activities have been a very important part of Jenny’s work.
Jenny is involved with the local Dementia Group and Café and is married with one son and three grandchildren, which keep her busy. Jenny also has a Persian rescue cat named Dulcie Vita, who loves to visit the residents of Barton Lodge for cuddles.
Jenny’s hobbies include: reading, swimming, arts & crafts, aromatherapy and holistic therapies, and she is just learning to knit!

Susan has been married to her husband, David, since 1987, and together they have three children – two sons, Simon and Mark, and a daughter, Victoria – as well as five grandchildren.
Throughout her career, she has held a variety of roles, and after relocating to New Milton, she joined the care sector. There, she discovered a passion for the activities side of care, particularly engaging with residents, which is where she feels most fulfilled.
In her spare time, she enjoys crafting and is always seeking new creative projects. She began knitting as a therapeutic and social outlet following her breast cancer diagnosis. She is pleased to share that she is now cancer-free and has since completed a 3k charity walk along the Bournemouth seafront – an event she looks forward to participating in again.

Suwanna joined Barton Lodge in September 2024, bringing with her a growing depth of culinary training and a genuine passion for cooking. She completed her NVQ Level 2 in Multi-Skilled Hospitality Service in April 2009, followed by the NVQ Level 2 Diploma in Professional Cookery in April 2024 at Bournemouth & Poole College. Her commitment to developing her skills shines through in every dish she prepares.
Curious and creative by nature, Suwanna spends much of her free time expanding her culinary knowledge – whether exploring diverse and nutritious recipes, experimenting with sugar-free ingredients, or honing her cake-decorating techniques through online learning and YouTube tutorials.
She takes great pride in cooking for the residents at Barton Lodge, and nothing makes her happier than hearing that her meals have brightened someone’s day. For Suwanna, great food is both a craft and a way of caring – and she brings that spirit into the kitchen every single day.
