My mother is currently resident and despite her initial reservations and resistance to join in and embrace, she has now settled nicely. This is due entirely to the dedication and patience of the staff who have treated her with dignity and as an individual the whole time. Credit is due to all the staff
at the home for their care and compassion.

My husband moved into Moorland House recently after a stay in hospital and what can I say he has never been happier. The quality of care is exemplary, the whole of the staff team are all fantastic, particularly the home manager, office administrator, care coordinator and especially one certain carer
who is extremely professional and compassionate in all that she does. They have all been more than helpful. The food is of a very high quality. My Husband is encouraged to get involved in all the activities on offer, and I must say his social life is better than mine. I would recommend Moorland House to anyone who is looking for a care home.

Nan has recently moved into Moorland House and from the start, we have been treated with the utmost respect.
Nan has settled in really well, which we were worried about how she would settle, as she had dug her heels in and did not want to leave her home, she now calls Moorland House home which is a
huge relief to us as a family.
The staff treat everybody with dignity and respect and have a lot of time for the residents and go out of their way to make all relatives welcome.
The food is always freshly cooked, always looks good, nan said it always tastes nice too.
Management is very friendly and seems to know the residents very well, there is a good rapport between the staff and the residents.
There are activities going on most days, which nan enjoys, she has not once said a bad word about the place, the family as a whole feel so glad we have found this place.

Very good and very helpful. Staff are pleasant and help you with anything you want. There is always someone to talk to. I love sitting in the gardens in the summer. I wish they would take us out to the shops or garden centres sometimes. I would like more singers please.

My aunt has lived at the home for approx four years now. I visit as often as I can and on every visit, my aunt has always been clean and well looked after, she always seems happy when I visit. My aunt is living with dementia and I understand that over a period of time her condition will worsen, during
a recent visit she was as bright as a button and we had the most enjoyable visit and a reasonable conversation. The staff are always very caring and friendly, and always make us feel welcomed. The home is always clean when I visit, they have also recently had a refurbishment, which looks brilliant. I am happy to leave knowing she is in good hands.

Mum moved here in April. Once she settled down, she loved it but it took her a couple of weeks. The carers are friendly, caring, down to earth and nothing is too much trouble. Activities are good and there is something going on most days. It is very clean and the meals are very good. The manager there
is wonderful, caring and knows her residents. Keep it up everyone.

The care staff are excellent.
I feel I can relax when I can't get to the home.
I know my Mam is well cared for.
I completely trust the men and women looking after my Mam.
Mam cannot do anything for herself, we rely heavily on these carers and Mam always looks great.
There is a very approachable
manager who knows all her residents well.
They are just great people, who all love their jobs.

Mum went to Moorland House on the 4/7/17. She has been very happy there and thinks the food is very, very good. It is so good to see the change in her since she arrived. There is music, games, tea parties and carers around all the time. Nothing is too much trouble for the carers, they have put the real
meaning of caring back into the world, with their cheerfulness, patience and understanding of the residents. The room is always spotless and when I go in before lunch, the food smells delicious. Well done all the staff, keep up the good work.

My father was a resident of Moorland House from January 2016 to December 2016. My mother and I were always extremely impressed with the high level of care given at Moorland House by the carers. They were very kind and treated my father with such warmth and compassion. I cannot praise them highly enough.
We also found them to be very efficient and treated my father with dignity at all times. I highly recommend this care home.

Current Review Score: 9.5 (9.466)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.5 (9.466) out of 10 for Moorland House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 9 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.7 out of 5 from 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.766 for Moorland House is calculated as follows: ( (84 Excellents x 5) + (21 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 107 Ratings = 4.766
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.7 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Moorland House is based on 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 = 3.7
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 23 registered maximum number of service users is 4.6, which has been reached with 9 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Registered Manger Joined: 2023

Lisa Wallace is the Home Manager at Moorland House and brings a calm, structured and compassionate approach to leadership. With a strong background in residential care, Lisa is committed to ensuring that every resident receives person-centred support in a safe, welcoming and professionally run environment.

Since taking on the role at Moorland House, Lisa has focused on strengthening team development, enhancing care standards and building positive relationships with residents and their families. She believes that consistency, communication and mutual respect form the foundation of high-quality care. Her leadership style is supportive yet accountable, ensuring that staff feel confident in their roles while maintaining clear professional standards.

Lisa is particularly passionate about creating a home that balances warmth with organisation. She understands that families place enormous trust in a care home when a loved one moves in, and she works hard to ensure that trust is earned every day through reliability, transparency and attention to detail.

As Lisa often says, “We at Moorland House are more than just a care home, we are family.” This belief underpins everything she and her team do. Under her management, Moorland House continues to develop as a close-knit community where residents are encouraged to maintain independence, enjoy meaningful activities and feel genuinely at home. Lisa’s focus remains simple and consistent: to provide safe, respectful and dignified care delivered by a confident and well-supported team.
