The Review Score of 9.6 (maximum of 10) for Oaklands Rest Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.
a) The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 16 Reviews over all time. This Average Rating is also the rating value for Oaklands Rest Home in Google's Search Results - more info
b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5 out of 5 from 13 positive Reviews in the last 12 months.
a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating of all Reviews over all time. For each review the Care Home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The Care Home receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating.
The Average Rating of 4.568 for Oaklands Rest Home is calculated as follows: ( (115 Excellents x 5) + (68 Goods x 4) + (7 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 190 Ratings = 4.568
b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 12 months. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with 'Extremely Likely' or 'Likely' in answer to the question 'How likely are you to recommend this Care Home to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment?'
The 5 points available are broken down as follows:
4 points are available for the first 5 Positive Reviews, 3 points for the first Positive Review and then 0.25 Points for each of the next 4 Positive Reviews.
1 point is available for reaching a target number of Positive Reviews based on 20% of the number of registered maximum number of service users. If the target is partially reached then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home with 50 registered maximum number of service users has a target of 10 Positive Reviews, if it has 10 or more Positive Reviews it will receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews will receive 0.7 points.
If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. The calculation is the same as above, except the points are divided by 2.
The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Oaklands Rest Home is based on 13 positive Reviews in the last 12 months and is calculated as follows:
3 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 = 4
Target of 5.8 positive Reviews (29 registered maximum number of service users ÷ 5). 13 Reviews ÷ 5.8 Target Reached = 1
When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

Mum was with Oaklands only for a matter of weeks before she sadly passed away at 91 years of age. The staff were brilliant with mum in her final hours and treated her with dignity and care. Mum's move to Oaklands was seamless as her previous care home closed down at short notice.

After my Gran had a fall and needed more care, especially because of her Dementia, we needed a place quickly. The staff were all lovely and very helpful right from the very first visit to access the place. They sorted out her assessment very efficiently and she was very soon settled there.
The staff are always very helpful and seem very good with the residents and their varied needs.

Overall I find the staff pleasant, caring and mostly accommodating to my relative's needs.
there is much fun and laughter between the staff, residents and the resident's families etc.
I believe this is so important and it goes well alongside kindness and care generally.

Oaklands Rest Home is comfortable and cosy, what it lacks in up to date decor is more than made up for by the caring, dedicated staff. It is a very welcoming, family orientated home to all....residents and visitors alike.

My wife has been at Oaklands since the beginning of this year. There have been difficult times but due to the dedication and respect from the staff, I have my full trust in them in looking after my wife.

Friendly and homely, with residents given choices in their daily lives.
Group and individual activities most days. These include exercises, quizzes, singing, arts and crafts, hairdressing and pampering sessions as well as gardening and caring for the resident chickens.
The staff know everyone well and are kind and caring, helping them retain dignity and individuality.

The care staff are fantastic. My dad enjoys living here. He's settled and content. It's like home from home. The staff here go that extra mile to make sure service users feel special. My dad certainly does! In turn, this reassures me that my dad is in safe hands when I'm not around.

I think you are doing a fantastic job at this home I've never seen residents of any care home as happy as these are so carry on the great work.

I have been working with Oaklands Rest Home for around 3 months and it's just really refreshing to see people who genuinely care about the residents of the home.
Having recently placed my Grandma in a home, on the other side I'm familiar with the requirements of an ageing relative.
Seeing how they use and embrace technology to give the residents a better standard of care was an eye-opener for me. The sensors used to help monitor sleep allow residents to sleep without being constantly checked up on, something I know my Grandmother struggles with.

My stepmother has been at Oaklands Rest Home since just before Christmas 2016. She has had marvellous caring from the staff, nothing is too much trouble for them, opportunities are there for one to join in activities if able.
Meals are served in two dining rooms, with a large sitting room. The bedroom is absolutely ideal looking out onto woods - very peaceful. Plenty of light with own en suite, room kept clean, with regular bedding change. The staff find time to sit down and talk and listen to my stepmother, which I find refreshing.

My mother has been a resident at Oaklands for about 16 months.
I am delighted to say that despite her reluctance to leave her own home she now regards Oaklands as her home.
When she talks about the care team it is always with positive remarks and they have become an extended family to her.
I visit daily and feel as welcomed and supported as mum.
I love to see residents involved in activities i.e. making cakes, feeding the hens, reminiscing, singing, playing games, being allowed to wander or snooze as they wish.
The management team have been supportive regarding some temporary needs my mother has by allowing a room change.

Mum has been a resident since February 2016
She has been used to having several generations of family living with her and was very reluctant to be cared for in a home.
I am really pleased that she now feels she has friends amongst the caring team and residents.
She has been positive in her praise of all the staff at the home describing them as "lovely" and scoring them "10 out of ten" to the social worker on a recent visit.
I have been visiting mum daily and have observed all the residents interacting with a team of people (including the caretakers ,cleaners and cooks as well as the carers and management) who offer fun, kindness and compassion.
I have been supported also by the staff when sometimes mum found the transition difficult and left me feeling guilty.
Mum is settled and happier than I had hoped she would be.

My Step-Grandmother has been a resident at Oaklands for over 7 years. I have always found the staff to be very helpful and caring towards her. The home suits her needs well, they notice the small things that make a huge difference e.g. they noticed that she did not eat when in a room full of people but as soon as the others left she would start to eat, so she is now able to eat her meals in a room on her own. It is good to know that there is flexibility within their systems to allow each person in their care to still be treated as an individual, with the respect and dignity that they deserve.

My step father went in for respite care at Oaklands Rest Home. I could not have asked for a better place or care. The management were very supportive and the carers were amazing. Oaklands has a very cosy, friendly, family atmosphere and their care goes beyond the resident to their family as well. I would recommend Oaklands to everyone. Thank you so much.
