Stroud House: Nestling near the foot of the Downs is in the heart of the South Downs National Park. The small, homely Home, can care for just 25 people, fitting the sensitive needs and feelings of those living with dementia. Their aim is to provide a strong sense of community and the best tailored care on an individual basis.

To do this they focus on feelings and cherish each person’s unique life and character from the moment they join their family. They find that this deeper understanding allows them to stimulate mental health as well as looking after physical needs.

The home has been adapted to provide a safe secure environment for dementia. With most rooms on the ground floor, assisted baths, a wheelchair accessible shower room and a beautiful secure garden.

They provide fresh nutritious and tasty home cooking from professional chefs who know everyone and their specific dietary needs. Plus, outings, musical events, specialist diversional therapy, birthday parties, and personalised activities that are intrinsic to daily life.

My mother moved to Stroud House mid-July and I've been pleasantly surprised at how well she has settled. She really was resistant to the move from her own home, but her dementia was getting worse and she wasn't looking after herself properly. The staff have been very caring and kind with her and Mum
says she is very well looked after and enjoys the activities and the meals. It's such a relief to know someone is there for her at all times.

I continue to be incredibly impressed by the activities and attention to detail that is provided in the care for the residents of Stroud House. It's wonderful to see all the residents engaged in such a full activities programme, creating new memories and continuing to maintain cognitive and physical
functions. My Father is thriving, being overseas it is lovely to see everyone's antics on their social media feeds. The staff go above and beyond for residents and their families.

A small homely dementia care home with a great atmosphere that treats its residents with care and affection. The management is very dynamic, putting on events, like the August 1st summer fare and has regular musicians and others visiting to entertain the residents. Visiting family members are always
warmly welcomed and encouraged to participate in events. The house was recently renovated, particularly in the communal areas and looks great. This communal area looks out onto a well-tended garden that is particularly nice in spring and summer.


We feel lucky to have managed to get a place at Stroud House, which is very convenient for one of our siblings that lives in Petersfield.

My Mum went in to Stroud House in February and has settled really well with the help and kindness of all the staff. The home has undergone recent renovation work and still more to come, which I have to say looks amazing and very homely and welcoming. This home always feels warm and welcoming and very

I feel it would be difficult to find a more genuinely caring Home for my mother. The management and staff go above and beyond to create a comfortable and safe homely environment for their residents. They organise activities and events to occupy and stimulate everyone, including very successful musical
acts who are enjoyed by everyone. Family members are made to feel welcome and are invited to join in when they can, which adds to the feeling of a homely atmosphere.
Recent attractive redecoration with new furnishings, with access to the garden which has also undergone recent improvements, all add to a calm and pleasant environment for all.
The care and attention is much appreciated and I wouldn't want my mother anywhere else.

From the very first meeting when staff came to assess my wife at home, the experience has been fantastic. Within a week, my wife had moved into Stroud House and the care she has received has been truly outstanding she has settled in marvelously thanks to an incredible team. They are excellent, very
professional and compassionate but go above and beyond always. The staff are attentive, kind to residents needs. They support my wife and myself making us feel part of S House. The chef does an excellent job, we feel incredibly lucky knowing she is safe and well cared for. Thank you all, you are amazing.

My husband is a day visitor and from day one has been made to feel special by the all the staff. Greeted at the door by name and after settling in the lounge, enjoys the day , he has lunch and refreshments.
The home has activities most days and he especially enjoys the singers that come in.
Management
has no problem if i need to change the day or need extra days.
It was not a easy decision to use day care but after the first visit , I have no trouble with him going and this gives me a worry free day and an opportunity to see friends and family that live fuller away.
We are also welcome to any of the activities/ entertainment on different days to his normal day.
In all a positive experience for both of us.

My mother-in-law moved into Stroud House in January 2025 due to a decline in her dementia and I'm happy to say she's now in the right place. The staff are so kind, caring and patient. She has received lots of one-to-one care to help settle her in and I've never seen her happier.
She seems to be doing
something different every day, be it, dancing, crafts, and visits out and about which is amazing. The carers do an amazing job helping to navigate these vulnerable people through such a confusing time.

Mum went into care in early January after a stay in hospital. The transition Stroud House performed was nothing short of a miracle! Mum suffers very badly with anxiety issues so it was a real worry as to how this would pan out. In a very short space of time, she seems to be settling in her "new home".
The staff are, attentive, professional and accommodating, to both the residents, and the families, my mind has been put at rest that Mum is safe and well cared for. Sam, the manager has gone out of her way to reassure both myself and Mum.
Another positive of Stroud House is the amount of activities for the residents, never a dull moment with everything from Burns night bagpipes to country walks.
Stroud House has made a difficult family time, a lot more Human. Thank you.

We visited a very old friend who had only quite recently started her life at Stroud House. It was the first time we had been there and we went to have lunch with her on her birthday. The staff were all very friendly and efficient and we had a good lunch at a table they had kindly set up for us in a
place where we could have a pleasant uninterrupted chat. There was a birthday banner and balloons. The place seemed spotlessly clean, with a happy atmosphere and plenty of staff. We were re-assured that our friend was being well looked after and with lots going on, enjoying a stimulating time.

During a really difficult time with the deterioration of my dear Mum and her dementia, Sam and the team have been so kind and caring in welcoming her into Stroud House. We were so blessed to find such a lovely place for Mum and everyone has been so understanding and thoughtful. The staff are so respectful
and great with both Mum and all of us family.
We feel very grateful that she is now being cared for in by a lovely team.
The room is freshly painted and decorated, the home very clean and the food is prepared and cooked to a fabulous standard.
Activities that are done with the residents have been brilliant for Mum with singing and music daily.
Thank you for making this difficult transition so welcoming for both Mum and all of us.

My mother recently moved into Stroud House after my father died who was her main caregiver and the home has been exceptionally kind and caring, they have been very welcoming to both my mother and other family members visiting always offering tea or coffee, etc. The food is of a high standard.
If there
is a query or problem we can ask and it has been sorted out straight away.
My mother loves the activities with the activity coordinator, especially the dementia choir.
I would happily recommend Stroud House if you are looking for good quality, thoughtful care for a family member.

Stroud House was a warm, welcoming place from the very start when Mum moved there - and it quickly became her home in the true sense of the word. Mum loved the staff and she was so well looked after. Not only that, but the staff were very supportive of us as a family too. There are lots of activities
each week and lots of opportunities to socialise - so important for those with dementia. Mum was really loved by everyone at Stroud House right up until her death and we will be forever grateful for that.

Following a further deterioration in her general health, our mum/gran moved to Stroud House, a smaller sister home to Down's House where daily life is at a quieter pace and more medical/nursing support is available. The staff were outstanding in their welcome and care, but sadly her health continued
to decline.
Our heartfelt thanks to all at Stroud House for all the love and excellent care given to our mum and gran over the last few months of her life. The care and attention she received at Stroud during the final weeks of her life was second to none and akin to that provided by a Hospice. The level of practical, medical, and emotional care she received was incredible and provided great comfort both to her and the family, enabling her to be "at home " when she died.
We will be eternally grateful for the support to us as a family which took a lot of the anguish and worry off our shoulders. The highest recommendation we can give. Thank you one and all.
