Very good at looking after. The staff are excellent in their caring.

The food is very variable and satisfying. We do get variations in sandwiches for supper and can have something other than what is on the menu.

It is very nice, plenty of staff to look after you, it is cosy and warm here which is nice, my room is nice and the forest overlooking is lovely, the deers come out. I am a vegetarian so I probably miss out of the nice roasts but I still have a vegetarian roast so they cater for my needs and likes. I enjoy the birds pecking at my window.

My mother lived at Woodlands for nearly 7 yeas. Finding the right care home for a loved one is probably the hardest thing you ever do in life. As soon as I saw Woodlands and met the staff I knew that it was the right place. It is a care home with a big C. The management and care team looked after my Mum in a way that I could never have done. They are respectful, considerate, thoughtful and most of all good fun! Towards the end of my mother's life they stepped up the care, allowed me to sleep in the room with my Mum and helped us both through a very difficult time. I could not recommend Woodlands enough.

After looking at a few homes once we had found this one by accident I might add, nothing else came close. My concern was that mum wouldn't be appropriate as she has alzheimers and sometimes refuses to get out of bed plus a number of other medical problems. To my relief they agreed she could come to Woodlands House. They are amazing, the atmosphere is homely, friendly all that you want for your loved one. When you have to find something or somewhere for a dear relative you are extremely emotional, worried and terrified you are doing the right thing. The people at Woodlands House are so understanding, kind, supportive and listen to your worries in a sensitive and kindly manner. I could go on but I have run out of space.

Overall Experience
My Aunt spent the last three years at Woodlands following a year on her own at home after her husband died. She spent three weeks there on a trial basis and never looked back. She started to put on weight after not being very interested in food at home, she had the stimulus of meeting other ladies when she wanted to and the afternoon glass of sherry was something to look forward to !! Her room on the ground floor looked out over the front garden and car park which meant she had lots of activity to watch from her armchair by the window if she was inclined. She loved the enormous mirror in the corridor to check if she looked neat and tidy with no loose hairs on her cardigan, before sitting in the light and airy lounge to watch TV or to be entertained. She arrived just before Christmas so the big house looked lovely with all the decorations and large Christmas tree lit up.
I will always treasure the walks we enjoyed around the beautifully kept gardens even if they were just short ones.
When she became poorly a few months after celebrating her 94th Birthday, the staff and my family discussed whether to move her to Hospital or the Cottage. The Cottage was decided upon and she could not have had more sensitive care and consideration 24/7 for what turned out to be the last few weeks of her life. My sister and I were with her for those precious last few hours and the staff were so kind and thoughtful throughout.

I think Woodlands House is a lovely home to go to when someone cannot look after themselves anymore and that they should not be worried about this change in their lifestyle.

Hi, my name is Katie and I have had the privilege of working in a variety of care settings for the past 16 years. For 11 of these wonderful years, I have been working for the fantastically supportive company - Hartford Care. Our amazing staff work tirelessly to ensure our residents get the very best care they deserve, ensuring everyone is treated with dignity and respect.

During my time working in the care sector, I have undergone a variety of courses to widen my knowledge, including my NVQ level 5 in leadership and management.

I aim to ensure all residents enjoy their time whilst living in our care homes, and that their relatives feel comfortable and welcome to visit their loved ones. I endeavour to help my staff to feel empowered and supported; to build on their experiences and to learn to think outside of the box.

I pride myself on leading by example and going the extra mile to ensure the residents' needs are always put first.

In my spare time, I like to support my local community and volunteer for the local food bank.

I look forward to getting to know you all and working with you to bring life and laughter to your loved one’s next chapter in their lives.

Since joining the Woodlands House team, I’ve had a wonderful experience connecting with both residents and staff. I’ve felt very welcome and supported, and I’ve truly enjoyed getting to know everyone.

I am excited to work with the manager, Katie, and the rest of the team to ensure that all the residents at Woodlands House feel safe, valued, and well cared for. I am already witnessing the fantastic care provided by the team and look forward to supporting Katie in ensuring that the residents and their families continue to receive the highest standard of care throughout their stay with us.
