Greenhill is a well established home within the community of Barnet and Potters Bar and is set in seven acres of beautiful mature grounds close to the exclusive Hadley Wood area. Greenhill was formerly a magnificent country house and family home to the "Oppermans" who resided here until the 1940s. Greenhill opened in 1989 and has been tastefully refurbished, extended and equipped to provide outstanding levels of care to the elderly.

Greenhill has a total of 67 rooms and residents have a choice of single, single en-suite, or companion bedrooms, all of which may be personalised and offer beautiful parkland views.

Greenhill offers residents a choice of lounges and dining areas including an exquisite oak panelled dining room, together with a sunny garden conservatory. The beautifully manicured gardens at Greenhill, with their landmark 200 year old cedar tree, offer outstanding views of the parkland and fields. The gardens are a safe environment, with easy access pathways and a garden log cabin and greenhouse for outdoor activities.

They market their home with a choice of dining rooms which allows residents with similar needs to dine together.

Greenhill offers long term residential care and short stay respite breaks for older people. The home specialises in the care of older people with dementia related needs and benefits from a safe and secure dementia environment. Care is provided by fully trained staff, 98% of whom are NVQ trained.

The home's Activities Organiser arranges a varied social calendar of meaningful, appropriate activities and entertainment, including trips to places of interest.

I cannot praise the staff at Greenhill enough, they are kind, patient and caring. Any teething problems at the start of mum's stay were sorted out quickly and professionally. As a family, we are made to feel very welcome, with cups of tea and reassuring words.


All the staff take the time to get

to know the residents and their interactions are always positive and loving. The manager seems to have a great rapport with both her staff and the people they look after. The house and grounds are superb and there is no doubt that money is invested in the property to keep it looking lovely. I cannot thank the staff or praise them highly enough.

My mother was diagnosed with dementia and has been a resident at Greenhill for just over 2 years. I cannot praise the staff enough, for their outstanding care, support and understanding of mum's many individual needs, which at times can be challenging. They will always go 'the extra mile'. Mum is so
happy and contented and my brother and I genuinely feel part of the Greenhill extended family!
We are consulted on all aspects of mum's care and we are always given the opportunity to talk to the staff and management about any concerns. 'The Cedars' which is the part of the home where mum spends her time, is a very special place.
Residents have their own special lounge, sensory room and wonderful conservatory looking out over the beautiful grounds and a small courtyard with lovely potted flowers.
Mum enjoys the special activities including summer bbq's, Christmas celebrations and firework evenings. Residents and relatives meetings are held regularly which keeps us in touch with all events.

On the three occasions. I have visited my relative and I have been impressed by the wonderful care given to my cousin and all the other residents.
I am aware my relatives particular problems were not easy for the staff but their considerate loving care has meant she has settled in very well. All the
staff I have met treat all the residents with respect and care which makes my visits a joy.

From the very first day my mother arrived at the care home, she was made to feel at home. She always told me how happy she was and how she loved all of her carers. Not at any time did she feel unhappy and to reach the age of 99 is evidence itself. I know the staff and carers are paid to do their work,
but the carers gave much more and above what their job required, that only true carers can do. I highly recommend this home.

I have been visiting my neighbour at this care home and was so happy to know that she is being treated with dignity and compassion.
The staff are wonderful, very kind and there is a very calm atmosphere. The fact that there is an open door policy to visitors says a lot.
The property is lovely and
very well maintained. The garden is well laid out and a wonderful space to encourage the residents to get out in the fresh air.
When my time comes I will book my place there!

My mother developed dementia in 2011 and we were faced with the difficult choice of having to select a care home for her. It was quite a daunting and emotional time for all the family. We couldn't have been happier when we found Greenhill. The home itself and its location in leafy Hertfordshire was
breath taking. The care and attention management and staff gave to my mother and the friendliness they showed us whenever we visited, was second to none.
Sadly my mother passed away on 6th June 2016. Up until her passing, the staff and carers at Greenhill could not have done more. I would not hesitate to recommend Greenhill to others - in fact, I have already done so.. Although my mother is no longer with us I know that I will keep in touch with everyone at Greenhill as they made me feel part of their very special family.

In my experience, on visiting a friend for almost four years, the most outstanding thing has been the staff. They are patient, caring and treat everyone with dignity. I as a visitor, always get a warm welcome and they present the home as a good place with a happy atmosphere.

My aunt has been at the home for two years and she has been very well cared for. The staff know her well and are thoughtful and concerned for her best welfare. She has been well looked after following a number of hospital admissions. Staff have helped in particular, to keep her mobile once she has returned
to the home. Staff have always had her best interests at heart. A warm and friendly place to be.

During mum's stay at Greenhill we found the staff to be excellent. They were friendly, kind and compassionate. We were always made to feel welcome when ever we visited (tea and biscuits always on offer!). I know that mum was very happy there and my sister and I could relax secure in the knowledge that
she was being extremely well cared for.


The building itself is well maintained and the rooms are bright and cheerful with mum being able to put her own paintings and photos up, it felt very much her own space.


The level of information supplied to us was always relevant and up to date and all our requests were always carried out without question. I cannot thank the staff enough for the care that they gave mum and the support we as a family received during her final weeks.

My 94 year old mother was in Greenhill while I was on holiday early this year. I am her main carer. Her room (newly refurbished) and staff were excellent as was Greenhill. The activities room on the lower floor could do with refurbishment and the lift being replaced. My mum still has a good appetite
but found the food warm at best and I only cook fresh vegetables for her, she does not like frozen, grounds were very well kept and would be nice in summer.

The Manager and the team are kind and caring people.


The Manager is a very kind and understanding person. Nothing is too much trouble and she took time to listen to any concerns or worries that we had before we chose Greenhill after considering many homes. Staff at Greenhill did all they could

to reassure us for what was a big leap of faith for us regarding our Mother's future care.


Patience and kindness is a high priority here as is treating residents with respect.


Love the grounds, house and views but know that these things take second place to good quality carers. Greenhill fortunately offers excellent standards with all these things.

My mother died aged 99 this week and her last eighteen months were spent at Greenhill Care Home. It is wonderful for me to be able to say that she could not have spent those last months in a better place. She had a lovely room with a view she adored over open country. The food and facilities were excellent
as were the large well maintained gardens easily accessible by wheelchair on top of that and most importantly the staff were just wonderful, warm and caring such that I was left in awe of their skills mum loved them.

My mum has been a resident at greenhill since August and the care she has received couldn't be better. The staff are brilliant and friendly. The home is clean and there are plenty of areas for the residents to sit. It looks more like a hotel! My mum wasn't walking when she went into the home and now
there's no stopping her! The grounds are lovely too, where it's nice to sit out, especially in the summer. There is lots of entertainment as well. They have singers go in, bingo, etc. All in all, a fantastic home.

My mum came to Greenhill just over a year ago when the lovely care home she was living in closed for economic reasons. She was obviously very upset at having to leave the place which she knew and loved but the Greenhill staff went out of their way to settle her in and make her feel at home.
For me,
the main asset of the home is the wonderful staff from the cleaners, kitchen staff, laundry workers, receptionists, activities organiser as well as the carers. From the moment you enter Greenhill, you are made to feel welcome. Mum regards the staff as her friends. Their kindness, dedication and patience is outstanding. She loves her room, the beautiful grounds, the entertainment and the fact that any concerns are immediately looked into and rectified by the excellent management team.
All her needs are seen to and I am happy that she is well looked after. Communication is excellent and I am kept informed of any issues relating to Mum. Regular meetings are held with residents and relatives and managers are always around if issues need to be discussed.

My father came to Greenhill in August 2012 and, with the help of the wonderful staff, was immediately made to feel at home. Nothing is too much trouble for them, and we are always welcome to speak to the senior staff should the need arise. The atmosphere at Greenhill feels very homely, and we have
always found the staff to be pleasant and helpful. Dad says he is so happy we found Greenhill for him, and he loves his comfortable room with it's view of the garden. The grounds are beautiful, and residents are able to be taken outside whenever they wish. The facilities are good, and the kitchen staff are most amenable to dad's food requirements. When we go on holiday, or when our visits come to an end, we always feel secure in the knowledge that we are leaving dad in very capable and supportive hands.
