My mother who suffered with Alzheimer’s spent the last two and a quarter years of her life at Greenhill Care Home where she was, for the most part, very happy. The staff were always friendly and caring and battled on cheerfully throughout the Covid-19 pandemic. Both phone and video calls were encouraged along with window visits. Mum especially loved their extensive and well-maintained grounds and it was good to explore them whenever restrictions and weather permitted. The home encouraged her to remain independent for as long as possible but made sure she was safe. For instance, they moved her to a downstairs room when she was no longer safe on the stairs and could no longer work out how to use the lift.

The first views of the garden and home were very good. The greetings were excellent. The staff treat every one of us as the most important people in the world, there is always a laugh and a smile to cheer us up when we need it. The rooms are the best I have seen in other homes and the variety of food offered is for all tastes. The entertainment includes all whether you are able to move or not. We are treated most respectfully even when those being cared for are not that nice to them. I praise all the staff, whatever position they have.

My father was a resident at Greenhill and received a very high standard of care all the way to the end of his life. The carers were all extremely motivated and genuinely I could see the care given. I was kept informed at all times and the home is always clean and has very good Covid provisions in place. The home had great facilities and beautiful large gardens in a rural location.

May I and my family thank all the staff at Greenhill Care Home for the excellent care, compassion and commitment to my father whilst in their care. I am sure that without it, he would not have reached his 100th birthday! Well done to all of you in these trying times.

Greenhill is staffed by the kindest people you could be fortunate enough to meet. Their care, attentiveness, knowledge, professionalism, support and communication is absolutely flawless; but more than that they truly treat their residents like family. They managed my grandmother's final days with an unbelievable amount of compassion and dignity, sharing so many personal stories of her with us which made it even clearer just how happy her time with them was. When the time came they did everything possible to ensure her passing was a comfortable one surrounded by her family. We could not be more grateful.

July 2020, Covid-19 pandemic, we were desperate to move our mother out of her current care home where she had resided for two years. We came across Greenhill with Good and Outstanding CQC ratings, so we enquired. The manager's communication skills were exceptional, she was interested in everything about our mother and after a long discussion, she thought Greenhill could accommodate Mum's needs. This interest and concern for our mother's welfare remained throughout her fifteen-month stay. Moving Mum wasn't a decision that we took lightly, knowing it could be detrimental to her health and wellbeing, especially as she had advanced dementia. Our gamble paid off. From day one we felt we had left our mother in the loving hands of experienced capable staff who really understood the debilitating condition of dementia. True affection and kindness enabled her to settle quickly and enjoy living in her new environment. Pandemic restrictions were strict to protect the residents and staff. We were reliant on clear information to give us reassurance, their communication was outstanding. The atmosphere was always calm and relaxed, the staff always patient and approachable. At every level, the spirit of the culture was one of sincere kindness. Thank you, Greenhill.

My father was a resident at Greenhill for seven and a half years. He was so well looked after that for the first few years his health, wellbeing and mobility significantly improved and we have many good memories of visiting him in the lovely surroundings of this homely care home. In the latter part of his time there and as he deteriorated, the excellent manager and staff couldn't have been more helpful, professional and caring, communicating regularly with us and making careful arrangements under Covid protocols for us to visit him as he approached the end of his life. My wife and I cannot commend Greenhill highly enough. We looked at many homes before deciding on Greenhill and that decision proved so right for my father. The staff see themselves and the residents as family and we have always felt warmly included in that too.

My mother was at Greenhill for just over 3 years, where she was well looked after during this time. The home is well run from the management downwards. The staff were all very caring to my mother and family who visited especially during the Covid pandemic when visiting became difficult. I have no hesitation in recommending Greenhill for anyone who is in my position of having to take charge and find a secure place for my mother to live. The traditional building comes with lovely gardens and summer house allowing you to have somewhere to walk your relative on a summer's day. My mother enjoyed the variety of food on offer with plenty of cups of tea! Greenhill has a true caring nature reinforced with a low turn-over of staff which is required when dealing with dementia and end of life.

My mum was cared for at Greenhill between August 2020 and April 2021 - during that time I couldn’t have asked for any better place for mum to be. Greenhill is a really lovely environment. The rooms and communal areas are calming and comfortable, and the gardens are beautiful. It was great to be able to have picnics with Mum under the trees last summer or sitting in one of the summer houses looking at the gardens and plants. But it is the staff that makes Greenhill completely brilliant. The manager and her team have been unfailingly kind to mum, and have been a delight to deal with when I’ve visited or called. It was a huge relief to me to know that mum was being so well looked after especially during the months that visits were not possible because of the pandemic. I would heartily recommend Greenhill and am very grateful to all the staff who made the last months of my mum’s life so very comfortable and safe.

My mum has been in Greenhill for almost two years. She is extremely happy and settled in so well. She looks well cared for and is loved by all the staff. The carers there are absolute angels and genuinely care for all the residents with love and kindness. The management team are amazing and always approachable. In these uncertain times, they have all been challenged beyond belief and have coped tremendously well, looking after the residents and keeping them entertained and happy throughout. It was a tough decision for all the family to put mum into residential care but we 100% made the right decision and wouldn't hesitate to recommend Greenhill.

My mother had superb care for the last four months of her life at Greenhill in Hadley Wood. She was cared for by conscientious, dedicated staff. She was well fed and every time I visited she looked better, happy and smiling. The grounds were a fantastic place to walk her around on a sunny day.

As I was sitting in the garden at Greenhill yesterday my mother suddenly said "I am very happy here. They spoil me. I never want for anything. The staff are so kind. We must give them a treat." She has been at Greenhill for 3 years and has always praised the staff and the care they give to the residents. We have always found the staff to be helpful and professional. We also appreciate the effort they have made to keep us informed during this very difficult time.

My wonderful mother-in-law was looked after wonderfully at Greenhill. All the staff got to know and love her very quickly. They have all been very caring and understanding about her needs. As her illness progressed they have initiated care and ideas. She loved the meals and activities and I have always found it to be clean and tidy. The activities that are organised, especially the playgroup were amazing. In the warmer weather, the garden and tea shed was a wonderful addition - again such care and attention.
During the COVID outbreak, Greenhill reacted promptly and initiated and organised their lockdown before other homes. This was awful to not be able to visit but phone calls and video calls and meetings were organised promptly. I never felt like as a family member I was a pain when I rang and all staff were amazing. They got to know us all as a family and even taking my dogs in to see my mother-in-law was met with smiles.

Thank you Greenhill for all your care, attention and love.

Words cannot express how grateful we are for the wonderful care Mum receives at Greenhill. The manageress and all of her staff are so professional and courteous whilst creating a wonderful warm and caring environment. Nothing is ever too much trouble for the staff and they will go that 'extra mile' to ensure that the residents are happy and comfortable. There is always a wonderful atmosphere with staff encouraging residents to take part in the many excellent activities. When Mum has been ill the staff have been fantastic. They have always called me as soon as they felt there may be a problem, and kept me fully updated with her condition. When Mum returned from a stay in hospital the Manager, her assistant and so many of the staff gave Mum such a warm welcome on her return which undoubtedly helped Mum adjust back to her 'home'. Most importantly is that Mum is so very happy here. In her words 'I am being very well looked after and all of the staff have time for you'.

My mother recently has a fall in getting out of bed in her room. The carers and sister in charge informed me by telephone that my mother was in a lot of pain. I was able to give them my mother's medical history in relation to the fall, it was agreed that my mother needed to go to Barnet Hospital for a full examination. I can't thank the staff at Greenhill who were able to assist my mother as I was away with my family in the South West on this occasion. There care and support were truly amazing. Thank you.
