Greenhill is a well established home within the community of Barnet and Potters Bar and is set in seven acres of beautiful mature grounds close to the exclusive Hadley Wood area. Greenhill was formerly a magnificent country house and family home to the "Oppermans" who resided here until the 1940s. Greenhill opened in 1989 and has been tastefully refurbished, extended and equipped to provide outstanding levels of care to the elderly.

Greenhill has a total of 67 rooms and residents have a choice of single, single en-suite, or companion bedrooms, all of which may be personalised and offer beautiful parkland views.

Greenhill offers residents a choice of lounges and dining areas including an exquisite oak panelled dining room, together with a sunny garden conservatory. The beautifully manicured gardens at Greenhill, with their landmark 200 year old cedar tree, offer outstanding views of the parkland and fields. The gardens are a safe environment, with easy access pathways and a garden log cabin and greenhouse for outdoor activities.

They market their home with a choice of dining rooms which allows residents with similar needs to dine together.

Greenhill offers long term residential care and short stay respite breaks for older people. The home specialises in the care of older people with dementia related needs and benefits from a safe and secure dementia environment. Care is provided by fully trained staff, 98% of whom are NVQ trained.

The home's Activities Organiser arranges a varied social calendar of meaningful, appropriate activities and entertainment, including trips to places of interest.

My mum was cared for at Greenhill between August 2020 and April 2021 - during that time I couldn’t have asked for any better place for mum to be. Greenhill is a really lovely environment. The rooms and communal areas are calming and comfortable, and the gardens are beautiful. It was great to be able
to have picnics with Mum under the trees last summer or sitting in one of the summer houses looking at the gardens and plants. But it is the staff that makes Greenhill completely brilliant. The manager and her team have been unfailingly kind to mum, and have been a delight to deal with when I’ve visited or called. It was a huge relief to me to know that mum was being so well looked after especially during the months that visits were not possible because of the pandemic. I would heartily recommend Greenhill and am very grateful to all the staff who made the last months of my mum’s life so very comfortable and safe.

My mum has been in Greenhill for almost two years. She is extremely happy and settled in so well. She looks well cared for and is loved by all the staff. The carers there are absolute angels and genuinely care for all the residents with love and kindness. The management team are amazing and always approachable.
In these uncertain times, they have all been challenged beyond belief and have coped tremendously well, looking after the residents and keeping them entertained and happy throughout. It was a tough decision for all the family to put mum into residential care but we 100% made the right decision and wouldn't hesitate to recommend Greenhill.

My mother had superb care for the last four months of her life at Greenhill in Hadley Wood. She was cared for by conscientious, dedicated staff. She was well fed and every time I visited she looked better, happy and smiling. The grounds were a fantastic place to walk her around on a sunny day.

Our Mother is 99 and enjoys living at Greenhill. The staff are fantastic. The food is generally good. The Manager has been excellent during Covid and the residence has run like clockwork with residents, staff and visitors all understanding and abiding by the rules which has made a happy atmosphere in
these trying times.

As I was sitting in the garden at Greenhill yesterday my mother suddenly said "I am very happy here. They spoil me. I never want for anything. The staff are so kind. We must give them a treat." She has been at Greenhill for 3 years and has always praised the staff and the care they give to the residents.
We have always found the staff to be helpful and professional. We also appreciate the effort they have made to keep us informed during this very difficult time.

My wonderful mother-in-law was looked after wonderfully at Greenhill. All the staff got to know and love her very quickly. They have all been very caring and understanding about her needs. As her illness progressed they have initiated care and ideas. She loved the meals and activities and I have always
found it to be clean and tidy. The activities that are organised, especially the playgroup were amazing. In the warmer weather, the garden and tea shed was a wonderful addition - again such care and attention.
During the COVID outbreak, Greenhill reacted promptly and initiated and organised their lockdown before other homes. This was awful to not be able to visit but phone calls and video calls and meetings were organised promptly. I never felt like as a family member I was a pain when I rang and all staff were amazing. They got to know us all as a family and even taking my dogs in to see my mother-in-law was met with smiles.

Words cannot express how grateful we are for the wonderful care Mum receives at Greenhill. The manageress and all of her staff are so professional and courteous whilst creating a wonderful warm and caring environment. Nothing is ever too much trouble for the staff and they will go that 'extra mile'
to ensure that the residents are happy and comfortable. There is always a wonderful atmosphere with staff encouraging residents to take part in the many excellent activities. When Mum has been ill the staff have been fantastic. They have always called me as soon as they felt there may be a problem, and kept me fully updated with her condition. When Mum returned from a stay in hospital the Manager, her assistant and so many of the staff gave Mum such a warm welcome on her return which undoubtedly helped Mum adjust back to her 'home'. Most importantly is that Mum is so very happy here. In her words 'I am being very well looked after and all of the staff have time for you'.

I am very happy with the Greenhill ethos. I commend the management for the way the home is run and the way staff members are trained.
They provide great service at all times. Always displaying patience and kindness in their dealings with all the residents.

My mother recently has a fall in getting out of bed in her room. The carers and sister in charge informed me by telephone that my mother was in a lot of pain. I was able to give them my mother's medical history in relation to the fall, it was agreed that my mother needed to go to Barnet Hospital for
a full examination. I can't thank the staff at Greenhill who were able to assist my mother as I was away with my family in the South West on this occasion. There care and support were truly amazing. Thank you.

Greenhill is extremely well run from the top down. All staff members are extremely professional, courteous and caring and we feel very welcome when visiting. Greenhill is a very professional well-managed home. The staff are exceptionally kind, professional, caring. The manager always available to speak to and kept my sister and myself up to date. Always there at every meeting and occasion, acted on any issue we brought to her. The reception desk always polite
and friendly. The senior carers were always professional but kept a wonderful intimacy with the residents as if nothing was any trouble for them. Wonderful people. Thank you.

We are so relieved, and happy, to have found Greenhill, with it's warm, friendly and safe atmosphere, and environment, for my elderly mother, to stay in whilst we were away for 2 weeks. The staff are fantastic - so attentive and caring. We cannot praise them highly enough and the house is clean, bright
and fresh, with some lovely communal areas, especially the sun lounge. Her spacious room and bathroom were spotless; excellent choice of food; beautiful gardens to walk or relax in and an extensive car park makes visiting so easy. Add to this the views - and you have the perfect home for the elderly. Absolutely first class!

Greenhill is lucky to be a beautiful building in extensive pretty landscaped grounds. But it is many of the little things that make Greenhill special. The choice of two dining rooms for residents, the summer house in the garden, equipped with tea/coffee, the selection of sitting rooms, the hair salon,
the cold drinks and cakes always fresh and sited around the building for residents to help themselves, the activities. But best of all is the staff themselves and their attitude to the residents which appears to be to treat everyone as an individual, get to know their preferences and respect their dignity. The attitude of all the staff makes Greenhill a happy place to be.
The manager quite rightly expects high standards but is also visibly available to offer guidance and reassurance.
I visited many care homes before choosing Greenhill and I can honestly say that this was an oasis of calm, efficiency and real care as it should be.

I am so impressed by the care the whole staff bestow on the residents. To see a beloved mother go into a home is traumatic but to see her well looked after and safe is a great comfort. Bravo to the manager and her staff!
