Greenhill is a well established home within the community of Barnet and Potters Bar and is set in seven acres of beautiful mature grounds close to the exclusive Hadley Wood area. Greenhill was formerly a magnificent country house and family home to the "Oppermans" who resided here until the 1940s. Greenhill opened in 1989 and has been tastefully refurbished, extended and equipped to provide outstanding levels of care to the elderly.

Greenhill has a total of 67 rooms and residents have a choice of single, single en-suite, or companion bedrooms, all of which may be personalised and offer beautiful parkland views.

Greenhill offers residents a choice of lounges and dining areas including an exquisite oak panelled dining room, together with a sunny garden conservatory. The beautifully manicured gardens at Greenhill, with their landmark 200 year old cedar tree, offer outstanding views of the parkland and fields. The gardens are a safe environment, with easy access pathways and a garden log cabin and greenhouse for outdoor activities.

They market their home with a choice of dining rooms which allows residents with similar needs to dine together.

Greenhill offers long term residential care and short stay respite breaks for older people. The home specialises in the care of older people with dementia related needs and benefits from a safe and secure dementia environment. Care is provided by fully trained staff, 98% of whom are NVQ trained.

The home's Activities Organiser arranges a varied social calendar of meaningful, appropriate activities and entertainment, including trips to places of interest.

My mother spent the last six months of her life at Greenhill Care Home and she was always treated with kindness and respect. The staff are all very caring even in sometimes difficult situations and looked after us as a family as well as my mum. I couldn't fault Greenhill at all and would recommend it
to anyone.

Thank you so much, Greenhill Care Home Barnet. The staff and carers looked after my mum so well during her eighteen months there. There was always someone on hand for a chat when she was lonely and was well looked after when her health was failing. I really thank the management, staff and carers for

My wife was accepted to Greenhill Care Home in April 2020 and sadly passed away in October 2022. At first, it was difficult as Covid hit us and I cannot fault the staff who cared for her when she caught it and nursed her back to health. She was so happy and we were happy with the care and love they
gave to her. I would recommend the care home to anyone that asked me.

Great consideration and care were taken in the days before my mother died. A vicar was asked to say prayers over her as she regularly attended service while in the home. The staff were excellent, even in the most difficult of circumstances.

This care home is well organised and the staff are extremely caring and professional. My mother was very well looked after and my relatives and I were always treated with respect and welcomed. My mother was sadly only able to enjoy Greenhill for four months before she passed away but during that time she was very well cared for by the professional and affectionate staff. I was always kept informed about any health issues and my visits were welcomed. Communication with my mother wasn't always
easy as there are no dedicated resident phones, but with the help of the staff, we did finally find a solution, which however was short-lived.

I looked at nine care homes before I chose Greenhill Care Home. From the moment I walked in and met the manager, I knew this was the place for my mum. The staff are angels, some of them have been there for years - something that is very important for dementia residents as continuity and recognising
those around them really helps. The home is lovely, the bedrooms are on the small side but the residents are encouraged to be downstairs in the lounges/dining room area during the day so the bedrooms are just for the evenings/sleeping in. Greenhill definitely extended my mum's life - she was safe, cared for and well looked after right to the very end.

You are always apprehensive when placing someone into care, but from the first time I drove my dad through the gate in July 2021 until his passing in May 2022, I have never looked back. The manageress and all the staff I have met there have been exceptional. They are always courteous, caring, professional
and nothing ever seems to be too much trouble. It is a clean, secure, caring environment set within lovely gardens. During the pandemic, with the extra stress of restricted visits and PPE, the home was managed impeccably. I cannot praise Greenhill Care Home enough; their level of care for my dad has been outstanding. The care, friendliness, facilities, and service I have experienced during my dad’s stay has been faultless. At no time have I had cause for complaint, and it has left me in no doubt I made the right choice. I would have no hesitation in recommending Greenhill to anyone. On behalf of all my family, I would like to thank everyone at Greenhill for making my dad’s latter months in life.

Greenhill Care Home provided great care from start to finish. Particular credit to the team in the dementia unit. My mum was always treated with kindness, attention and respect. The glorious gardens provided a real lift on many occasions too!

My mother who suffered with Alzheimer’s spent the last two and a quarter years of her life at Greenhill Care Home where she was, for the most part, very happy. The staff were always friendly and caring and battled on cheerfully throughout the Covid-19 pandemic. Both phone and video calls were encouraged
along with window visits. Mum especially loved their extensive and well-maintained grounds and it was good to explore them whenever restrictions and weather permitted. The home encouraged her to remain independent for as long as possible but made sure she was safe. For instance, they moved her to a downstairs room when she was no longer safe on the stairs and could no longer work out how to use the lift.

The first views of the garden and home were very good. The greetings were excellent. The staff treat every one of us as the most important people in the world, there is always a laugh and a smile to cheer us up when we need it. The rooms are the best I have seen in other homes and the variety of food
offered is for all tastes. The entertainment includes all whether you are able to move or not. We are treated most respectfully even when those being cared for are not that nice to them. I praise all the staff, whatever position they have.

My father was a resident at Greenhill and received a very high standard of care all the way to the end of his life. The carers were all extremely motivated and genuinely I could see the care given. I was kept informed at all times and the home is always clean and has very good Covid provisions in place.
The home had great facilities and beautiful large gardens in a rural location.

Greenhill is staffed by the kindest people you could be fortunate enough to meet. Their care, attentiveness, knowledge, professionalism, support and communication is absolutely flawless; but more than that they truly treat their residents like family. They managed my grandmother's final days with an
unbelievable amount of compassion and dignity, sharing so many personal stories of her with us which made it even clearer just how happy her time with them was. When the time came they did everything possible to ensure her passing was a comfortable one surrounded by her family. We could not be more grateful.

July 2020, Covid-19 pandemic, we were desperate to move our mother out of her current care home where she had resided for two years. We came across Greenhill with Good and Outstanding CQC ratings, so we enquired. The manager's communication skills were exceptional, she was interested in everything about
our mother and after a long discussion, she thought Greenhill could accommodate Mum's needs. This interest and concern for our mother's welfare remained throughout her fifteen-month stay. Moving Mum wasn't a decision that we took lightly, knowing it could be detrimental to her health and wellbeing, especially as she had advanced dementia. Our gamble paid off. From day one we felt we had left our mother in the loving hands of experienced capable staff who really understood the debilitating condition of dementia. True affection and kindness enabled her to settle quickly and enjoy living in her new environment. Pandemic restrictions were strict to protect the residents and staff. We were reliant on clear information to give us reassurance, their communication was outstanding. The atmosphere was always calm and relaxed, the staff always patient and approachable. At every level, the spirit of the culture was one of sincere kindness. Thank you, Greenhill.

My father was a resident at Greenhill for seven and a half years. He was so well looked after that for the first few years his health, wellbeing and mobility significantly improved and we have many good memories of visiting him in the lovely surroundings of this homely care home. In the latter part
of his time there and as he deteriorated, the excellent manager and staff couldn't have been more helpful, professional and caring, communicating regularly with us and making careful arrangements under Covid protocols for us to visit him as he approached the end of his life. My wife and I cannot commend Greenhill highly enough. We looked at many homes before deciding on Greenhill and that decision proved so right for my father. The staff see themselves and the residents as family and we have always felt warmly included in that too.

My mother was at Greenhill for just over 3 years, where she was well looked after during this time. The home is well run from the management downwards. The staff were all very caring to my mother and family who visited especially during the Covid pandemic when visiting became difficult. I have no hesitation
in recommending Greenhill for anyone who is in my position of having to take charge and find a secure place for my mother to live. The traditional building comes with lovely gardens and summer house allowing you to have somewhere to walk your relative on a summer's day. My mother enjoyed the variety of food on offer with plenty of cups of tea! Greenhill has a true caring nature reinforced with a low turn-over of staff which is required when dealing with dementia and end of life.
