Hillview Care Home

A special shout out to the assistant manager who has been caring and gentle with Mum with anything she needs along with all the staff.

My mother started her residency in November 2022 at a previous B&M facility. My first point of contact was the manager whose empathy, professionalism and reassurance was nothing more than outstanding. My mother settled very quickly, the staff including the manager and many others spent so much time with her to make her feel welcome and adjusted to her new home. Mum's weight within the year went up a stone and she has never looked so well. In September this year residents and most staff moved to a beautiful new building Hillview. We were blown away with the facilities and amazing rooms. Once again Mum settled very quickly. The food is lovely and fresh and the chef liaises with Mum and residents daily. The activities are stimulating, often celebrating various events especially the residents' birthdays. All needs are catered for with regular updates. The communication between staff, residents and families is very engaging and informative. Thank you all at Hillview.

We couldn't ask for anything more for Mum's care, she's very happy here.

I visit the home regularly to visit my old neighbour, although it’s brand new it has such a lovely warm feeling there. All the staff are amazing with the residents and visitors, very welcoming, and always get a nice cuppa. If any of my family were to ever need to go in a home I wouldn’t hesitate to send them here.

The home is very welcoming and immaculate throughout. The staff attending to Dad were very attentive and supportive of his needs. I would be happy to highly recommend them to any friends and family.

The staff are lovely and seem to have lots of time to interact with the residents.

At times, there seems to be a lack of staff on duty in order to cater for all the individual needs of the residents with dementia. I appreciate there has been a recruitment drive. Observation from last two months.

Our mum went in initially for respite because of a broken wrist, we knew that there was availability to go permanently if Mum liked it and settled. It was a little bit bumpy understandably at first but Mum settled and was very happy.

Thank you to all the staff at Hillview for doing such a wonderful job day in and day out caring for my lovely Nan. Always making themselves available to put my and my family’s mind to rest whenever we have any questions. Everything is always kept clean, the food always looks amazing and the residents are always kept occupied with entertainment/games/painting etc. Thank you again, the care you all show towards my nan is greatly appreciated.

Hillview is a fairly small care home with around 30 residents. Generally, the carers are good and well-meaning but on occasions, they find it difficult to run fully staffed and employ temps. Some of these carers are not as good as they should be. The home is a peaceful place with activities 4-5 times a week. There are several areas within the home that need updating to allow the staff to carry out their jobs properly.

My mother is a resident at Hillview and has advanced dementia. She is very happy at Hillview, I visit her weekly and she is always comfortable and happy. The home is clean, tidy and very welcoming. Mum is forever telling me how lovely the girls (carers) are and how much she loves them and what a lovely home she has. I could not wish for more.

My mum has been a resident in the home for about 3 years now. My mother suffers from a mental health condition (depression and psychotic episodes). The staff and management at Hillview are excellent when dealing with our mother. They understand her every need and I am very happy with the care that my mum receives and couldn't ask for anymore. They are a credit to the care system. Thank you staff and management at Hillview.

I am happy to recommend Hillview care home, an extremely well-managed home, and can't thank the staff enough for the kindness shown to my uncle.

My mother seems content at Hillview and is quite appreciative of what the staff do. From my observation, I think on the whole they do an amazing job especially working in a building which, by today's standards, is inadequate and everyone must be looking forward to the move to the new build care home early next year and I am sure the residents once settled in will love their new surroundings.

One observation as a regular visitor, I hope after this move has taken place there will be staff available to facilitate more constructive activities for the residents in order to stimulate them as that seems to have gone by the wayside recently (or maybe my visiting time has not corresponded with such activities eg bingo, keep fit exercises etc).

My mum has been in Hillview for nearly seven months and suffers from dementia which presents as confusion and memory loss. The staff all treat her with kindness and affection and are always cheerful. Whenever I visit, I am always made welcome. Her room is small but clean and tidy. The staff are undoubtedly the biggest asset as they appear well trained and genuinely caring. Mum seems content most of the time and often comments that the girls are "ever so nice".

The staff at Hillview are professional and hard working and show real care to their residents. They engage with everyone and involve them in activities to the level each individual wishes. My family and I believe it to be a safe and secure environment for our mother and gives her the level of support she needs now and in the future. With 34 rooms it is the size of a home where everyone is known and treated as an individual.
