To me, this home really is a home. I had a bad fall in one of the corridors recently, I was taken to the hospital very quickly. I had only been in the home for just over three months, I was in the hospital for three weeks. All the time they were making enquiries of my progress. On my return to St Josephs, I was so impressed by the true welcome I received, and the care and attention I received. From my own experience, I would say St Josephs really is a care home. After living in my home with my husband for over 60years, it was a heartbreaking decision by anyone in my position; I would recommend St Josephs every time.

I have found the staff to be almost always responsive and helpful in meeting the requests and needs of my Aunt and of my needs in contacting her during the pandemic. Some effort was expended in allowing me to contact my Aunt at a time that contact had broken due to technical problems which were resolved.

I have found the home to be clean, bright and well maintained. The staff are delightful and always willing to help. Mummy is very happy at St. Josephs and when she is having a difficult day the staff are very understanding and supportive. Mummy has always taken a keen interest in her appearance and the staff have helped us maintain this. They also managed very well and with great care when Mummy was rather poorly and helped her to pull through. She enjoys the meals in the home, especially bath puddings, which she spent so much of her life avoiding.

My mother is very well looked after at St Joseph’s. The staff are very friendly, caring and approachable and quickly got to know Mum and the family. We have always felt very welcome when visiting and management is always happy to discuss mum with us.
These are strange times but St Joseph’s and the wider B & M team seem to have coped well with COVID-19, locking down early and keeping relatives informed of the measures put in place to protect the residents. St Joseph’s has done its best to enable visits from a family member in garden gazebos and video calls have been a great way to keep in contact.

Despite restrictions on external entertainers, the activities manager has been able to maintain a daily programme of events for the residents.

Staff very caring and approachable.
Respectful of the resident's difficulties
Well kept home and gardens, gazebos for visits now adequate, probably too cold and draughty for winter visits.

The home is small and meets less the needs of physically able and active people to walk around, but the majority are in fact unable to do so in any case.

I have nothing but praise for the staff at St Josephs Care Home. They are all very kind, helpful and above all professional. They go to great length to ensure that my mother is well looked after with a high standard of respect and decency. I am quickly notified of any changes in my mother's condition, so that I am able to make an informed decision of how best to respond, in my mother's best interest.

Very many thanks.

The home is always clean and fresh smelling, the staff are always caring, friendly and supportive. My Mother in law's room could do with an uplift in decor but apart from that, we are very satisfied with the home.

My mother has been at St Joseph’s for over a year, during which she has received a consistently excellent standard of care. What my mother needs most is activity and stimulation, and the home has provided a very good programme of activities which are appropriate for her and others. I have been particularly impressed by the initiative of bringing in children from the local nursery school, to which my mother has responded very well. Overall, the staff are very caring and patient and have a good understanding of my mother’s condition and requirements. My mother’s room always seems clean and tidy and the home does not have the slightly unpleasant background smell that I have noticed in some other such establishments.

My mother moved to St Josephs' almost four years ago. She was an anxious lady and reluctant to try anything new so the move caused her some stress. Her new home made her very welcome and she settled in well. Although not a 'mixer' she thoroughly enjoyed the fact that the staff were always popping in and chatting with her.

During her last few days, the staff gave us and mum great support and kindness.

Mother has settled well and seems so much more relaxed at St. Josephs following a broken leg and inability to return to Independent Living. She enjoys her meals very much and has a pleasant, light and homely bedroom. The quality of genuine care given by all the Care Assistants is outstanding and this is probably the most important issue to highlight. She is encouraged to be mobile, to eat, to interact and go outside for fresh air demonstrating high levels of commitment by the Care Team.

Absolutely wonderful to my 107-year-old mother. Very caring and totally lovely and dedicated staff. Attention by the staff and activities at the home have stimulated Mother who is now considerably more alert and communicative since moving to the home. Best decision ever made.

My Mother is extremely well looked after by the wonderful staff at St Joseph's. This place is run with kindness and respect to the residents. So much effort is put into keeping the residents occupied and there always seems to be something going on for their entertainment which I feel is key for my mum’s well being. Outstanding is how I would rate St Joseph’s.

It is now one year since mum became a resident and I am extremely grateful to St Josephs for being able to relax knowing mum is being taken good care of. Despite some trying circumstances, the staff remain calm and approachable. There is a relaxed atmosphere with relatives always welcome and involved in activities if wanted. There is a very good activities programme and residents are encouraged to join in. Relatives are helped to deal with difficulties relating to their relative and I have found nothing but professionalism in a relaxed atmosphere.

I have been so very pleased, so many times, that we chose St Joe's for our wonderful Mum's dementia care. The team are so very caring, taking a truly personal interest in the individual - whether that relates to personal care or to making sure the person takes part in a particular activity that the team knows they will enjoy. The way Mum looks at some carers in particular makes it very clear how she is feeling, and this is a direct result of the efforts of the care and entertainments teams. When things need checking up, or changing, the team are very responsive - and the reality is that there will be things that need adjusting- perfection does not exist. For me, it's about the way the team correct things that is important.

My mother has been at St Joseph's for about 18 months now and we are very happy with the way that she has settled in and the way that she is treated. The staff are very kind, patient and always have smiles on their faces even though they work under difficult circumstances. I am so pleased that we chose this care home over any other one. I would highly recommend it.

My Dad is so well cared for at St Joseph's, I absolutely cannot fault it. The management and staff are amazing and are always on hand to talk about any concerns or questions. They go above and beyond to make the relatives feel reassured and the residents feel happy, safe and secure.

Every member of staff is friendly and welcoming and nothing is too much trouble. My Dad is extremely happy and content and enjoys the company and sense of humour of staff and fellow residents. He thinks he's living in a hotel! He's put on weight since he moved in as he loves the food, is always well presented and the home is kept immaculate.

Since arriving in June, my father has settled in so well at St Joseph's.
The staff are fantastic, caring, respectful and very supportive both to residents, family and friends.
The home is impeccably clean, well organised and the residents' happiness and well-being a top priority.
Could not wish for more.

I feel confident that my father is receiving the best possible care, and is very happy here.
