Staff friendly, supportive, caring and very respectful. Home environment very positive and stimulating. Considering that our mum said she would never go into a care home the fact that she is so happy here is testament to the care provided by all the staff. Thank you!

What a breath of fresh air Martins House was for my late mother in law and indeed all her family. We moved my late mother in law from another care home which to my mother in law and her family felt oppressive. Martins House was the absolute opposite. My mother in law had an armchair we bought for her
in her room and also a television. She was able to come and go to and from her room as often as she wanted. Her whole demeanour changed within a week of being there. She even got a boy friend - which shows it is never too late. We visited her regularly and were always met with smiling faces from both residents and staff. I truly cannot recommend Martins House highly enough for making the end of my mother in law's life so comfortable, safe and happy. If I need to go into a care home this is the one for me.
Reply from Kendra Bray, Customer Relationship Manager at Martins HouseDear Robert,

Thank you for your kind words. It was a pleasure looking after your late mother in law – she was quite a character!

The team at Martins House appreciate your comments.

Best.

Kendra.

Mum was admitted to Martins House to convalesce after a stay in Hospital with pneumonia. Her stay lasted 21 days.
From arrival to departure, Mum was cared for with the utmost respect and tremendous kindness. Every member of staff from management to domestic made her feel welcome, happy and content.

Her recovery was amazing because of this. She grew stronger every day as a result of the commitment and dedication of every member of staff.
She is now home with me and is praising Martins House.
As her daughter, I cannot thank the staff enough for everything they did to make mum's stay so comfortable. Thank you all so much.

My nan has spent ten happy years being kindly and compassionately cared for at Martins House. She has always been treated with dignity and I have been advised of any concerns or changes to her care.
The carers have always been polite and considerate not only to Nan but to myself and my family.
Recently
great effort has gone into making Martins House feel even more of a home.
Reply from Dalbir Jangra, Head of Marketing and Communications at Martins HouseHi Linda,

Thank you for noticing the fantastic effort by all involved with Martins House. Your kind review is appreciated.

Happy to discuss any further areas for improvement you may have.

This residential home was used as respite for my mother on leaving hospital. We were very impressed with the caring staff. They were very polite. The caring for my mother was exceptional. They treated her with dignity at all times. I would like to mention everyone's name but so many to put down but
special thanks to the two carers for looking after my mum, I will not forget what you have done.
Reply from Dalbir Jangra, Head at Martins HouseHi Robert,

Since moving into Martins House, mum has really turned a corner - she is so much happier and settled than she was in her last few months at home. Mum is well looked after and Martins House is such a happy place to visit. All the staff are lovely and welcoming and it is a pleasure to visit mum here in
her new home. Keep up the good work!

Martins House is benefitting from a refurbishment producing pleasant, bright, comfortable, areas for residents and staff alike.
The staff are all friendly, polite, knowledgable, and dedicated. A good team of people who you feel you can trust, which is enourmously important when they are looking after
one of your own family.
My mum has settled in since moving in on August 11th and now knows everybody.
A very good start for what we as a family hope will be long term situation.

Carers looked after my mother for 3 months until her death. They were kind, efficient and patient. At the end they took on the responsibility of helping her through to the end of her life with respect and compassion. Their concerns extended to her family and they always keep in touch.
Laundry and bedding
were dealt with immediately, no resident ignored, food and drink frequently offered.

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.702)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.702) out of 10 for Martins House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 13 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 13 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.877 for Martins House is calculated as follows: ( (136 Excellents x 5) + (17 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 154 Ratings = 4.877
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.825 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Martins House is based on 13 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.825
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 60 registered maximum number of service users is 12, which has been reached with 13 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
