My mother came to your care home to give myself a much-needed respite for two weeks, which was very nice. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful in assuring me everything would be okay. The home is a nice friendly place where my nan feels safe and is looked after.
However, with high levels of agency staff, there is no consistency - ie washing isn't collected frequently enough and requested daily tasks aren't undertaken.

I visited the Vesta Lodge to see an old friend. He looked clean and tidy and seemed happy. His room was clean and tidy and he liked his room. We spent time in the lounge playing bingo and doing activities. He was offered drinks and crisps and enjoyed the day. It was them time for lunch and the carer
came to take my friend to the dining room. She seemed very pleasant. I think he is being cared for well.

Since my dad has lived at Vesta Lodge, he has always received excellent care. All the carers on his unit work hard to make sure that all the residents are happy, even when short of staff. I have always been able to express my feelings to both managers and staff. The housekeeping team do an excellent
job making sure the home is clean, tidy which is a hard job to do. As long as my dad is happy, I'm happy.

Our mother was asked to leave her previous care home as she was getting aggressive with both staff and residents and they we unable to cope. Mum moved into Vesta Lodge in March 2016. The difference in mum's behaviour, attitude and temper has been remarkable. The staff make a huge effort to keep her
happy. Mum has settled really well and now seems very cheerful when we visit. Her anger and aggressive behaviour has stopped and when she does complain, the staff manage to distract her and then she forgets what was annoying her. The family at their wits end when she arrived here, are now really happy and positive about the future.

After every weekly visit, I drive away knowing my mother is in the best possible hands. As I was signing out I could see staff leading residents to the various dining rooms unaware they were being observed. The kindness and care (not patronising) the staff give is wonderful.
We feel welcome visiting
and the home is bright fresh and well furnished, it's like a lovely hotel where residents can join in activities or have peace in well-appointed rooms. Staff are always helpful if our family have any queries, and I cannot rate them highly enough it really is the next best place after home,

When my husband was found unconscious at Vesta Lodge and taken to Watford General, his 9ct gold watch went missing. He died on 14 May. They did not appear to do proper searches. A mug also went missing but was found when a man in a uniform, with police on it, paid them a visit. No watch has even been
found. There were no locked drawers/cupboards in his room, which there should have been. No apology ever received, only letters demanding payment for care fees. This incident has been very unpleasant and upsetting as he always wore the watch. I have very little in the way of his personal possessions, they did not seem to care about the loss.

All new residents are advised to take out insurance for personal items of value brought into the home. Where requested, a locked drawer will be provided in each bedroom.

It’s often the Administrator that brings the IT skills to a home, helping them to keep everything organised.
