I visited the Vesta Lodge to see an old friend. He looked clean and tidy and seemed happy. His room was clean and tidy and he liked his room. We spent time in the lounge playing bingo and doing activities. He was offered drinks and crisps and enjoyed the day. It was them time for lunch and the carer came to take my friend to the dining room. She seemed very pleasant. I think he is being cared for well.

Since my dad has lived at Vesta Lodge, he has always received excellent care. All the carers on his unit work hard to make sure that all the residents are happy, even when short of staff. I have always been able to express my feelings to both managers and staff. The housekeeping team do an excellent job making sure the home is clean, tidy which is a hard job to do. As long as my dad is happy, I'm happy.

Feedback is really important to help us to pass on your thanks and praise to the staff, as well as to make improvements to our service where necessary. We are really pleased to say that since January, we have had a robust recruitment drive and now have several additional members of staff on board to help us to deliver excellent care to our residents.

Very caring care staff. Always positive and treating residents as important individuals.

Management on the whole good. Slight failing in communication probably because they are busy caring for residents, no other reason. However, this has improved since a staff member has been taken on to fulfil front line communication role.

Our mother was asked to leave her previous care home as she was getting aggressive with both staff and residents and they we unable to cope. Mum moved into Vesta Lodge in March 2016. The difference in mum's behaviour, attitude and temper has been remarkable. The staff make a huge effort to keep her happy. Mum has settled really well and now seems very cheerful when we visit. Her anger and aggressive behaviour has stopped and when she does complain, the staff manage to distract her and then she forgets what was annoying her. The family at their wits end when she arrived here, are now really happy and positive about the future.

After every weekly visit, I drive away knowing my mother is in the best possible hands. As I was signing out I could see staff leading residents to the various dining rooms unaware they were being observed. The kindness and care (not patronising) the staff give is wonderful.

We feel welcome visiting and the home is bright fresh and well furnished, it's like a lovely hotel where residents can join in activities or have peace in well-appointed rooms. Staff are always helpful if our family have any queries, and I cannot rate them highly enough it really is the next best place after home,

When my husband was found unconscious at Vesta Lodge and taken to Watford General, his 9ct gold watch went missing. He died on 14 May. They did not appear to do proper searches. A mug also went missing but was found when a man in a uniform, with police on it, paid them a visit. No watch has even been found. There were no locked drawers/cupboards in his room, which there should have been. No apology ever received, only letters demanding payment for care fees. This incident has been very unpleasant and upsetting as he always wore the watch. I have very little in the way of his personal possessions, they did not seem to care about the loss.
