My Mum came to Abbey Lodge nearly 6 weeks ago from respite. Mums happy has a lovely room overlooking the sea, we've brought in many of Mums paintings which look lovely and absolutely no problem for the wonderful maintenance guy that works there to put them up. She's been being looked after very well,
all the carers are caring, considerate and gentle with my Mums needs.
If there's any medical issues, they're dealt with straight away and medication comes quickly.
I couldn't ask for a better service for my Mum.
Management is excellent, kind and friendly and it really feels like a home for us too.

Dad's been at Abbey Lodge for 4 weeks now, he's settled in well and is taken care of wonderfully. Dad has a couple of personal care needs and these have been dealt with in a caring manner. He's loving the food and has put on weight which is fantastic.
He's enjoyed some social activities with other service users, this helps him to keep stimulated.
Nothing is too much effort for any member of staff and if we have any concerns we are listened to and it's dealt with.
Thank you for caring for our Mum and Dad, we appreciate it so much.

On visiting Abbey Lodge we knew it was the right place for my Dad. The Manager, Jo is always contactable, the staff are kind & caring, plus the food is great. They have regular activities to engage residents & everyone is encouraged to join in. Also, there is an online app that is updated regularly
so we can see how my dad is doing, eating & drinking...perfect when living a long way away.

My mum has settled well into Abbey Lodge, all the staff are kind and caring. Mum has been encouraged to join in activities which she is enjoying, it's nice that they have a variety of things that she can join in with. I pop in at all different times of the day and always find mum with a cup of tea,
or just had one! She is well fed with a variety of different meals and alternatives if she is not keen on what's on the menu. The care she has received has been perfect, weekly visits from the district nurses have been arranged. I cannot thank all the staff enough.

From the day my husband arrived at the home I have been made to feel supported and involved in his care. The staff are all working with us to understand and manage my husband's needs which is great. He is settling in nicely thanks to the care he is being given by the whole team. I feel so grateful
that we have found Abbey Lodge.

Moving a loved one into a permanent care facility is one of the hardest things to do. From the first moment we set foot in Abbey Lodge we could could tell that my Dad was going to be well looked after. Being told we could visit whenever we wanted as "this is now your home too", made a difficult decision
much easier.
We have been allowed to make his new room as close to home as possible, we can stay for dinner (its lovely food i must add), join in the activities and I've even been able to visit with his dog. The communal areas are comfortable and exceptionally clean. The staff have all taken the time and care to get to know Dad, and likewise ensure he is included in all aspects of the community. They also take the time to ask how we are when we visit it really does feel like an extended family.
We are truly grateful for the care you give to Dad (and us).
Keep doing what you do! Thank you all!!

I can highly recommend Abbey lodge. My uncle was made to feel very welcome straight away and the transition from his home to Abbey lodge was done with the upmost care and consideration. Jo, Julie and all the staff here are kind, caring and patient. Nothing is too much trouble for them and you can not
help but notice the smiles on lots on faces here.

The staff have been really responsive to communication from myself and my sister about our grandmother, and also about financial processes. I've had clear communication about medication and it's good to be able to access her notes too. Really appreciate being able to call regularly and someone taking
the phone up to her, and how friendly staff are when we visit.

Staff and management at Abby Lodge are second to none in their care and attention to the residents. My mum has been there for over a year and after being very ill for past couple of years has been transformed both physically and in her mental well-being from the love and care that she gets from the
guys at the home .
We are very lucky to have found Abby Lodge.

Good care being shown in the relatively short time my mother has been a resident. They have good systems in place for monitoring her health and are quick to intervene if necessary. Follow ups have been done promptly. The home has a friendly atmosphere and the staff appear consistent and content in their
work. Cannot fault them.

From initial viewing, assessment to discharge, the whole team was friendly, kind, thoughtful and professional.
Any requests, e.g. a vase or ad hoc medication, were immediately satisfied.
The care staff were especially considerate of an elderly woman who was at times confused. They were very patient,
even when busy.
Thank you for the care provided.

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.723)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.723) out of 10 for Abbey Lodge Residential Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 29 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 28 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.723 for Abbey Lodge Residential Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (262 Excellents x 5) + (54 Goods x 4) + (11 Satisfactorys x 3) + (4 Poors x 2) + (1 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 332 Ratings = 4.723
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Abbey Lodge Residential Care Home is based on 28 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 25 registered maximum number of service users is 5, which has been reached with 28 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
