Abbey Lodge is situated in the laid-back market town of Hythe, Kent and enjoys lovely sea views overlooking the English Channel. It prides itself on delivering high-quality care which is specific to the individual needs of residents.

The home has been operating since 1996 and has built up a strong reputation in the community and amongst professionals for the care and detailed attention which underpins the ethos of care in the home. My mother has been a resident here for 4 years. We were not entirely happy to have to take this step at the time and after some local research Abbey Lodge seemed to be our best option. Mum has been very well looked after and generally happy. Care during the past year has been very good when circumstances
for everybody have been so difficult. I would have no hesitation in recommending this place to anyone. The staff seem to genuinely care about the residents and families.

My mum came to Abbey Lodge about 6 months ago and she was very frail and weak. With the loving care of everyone, my mum has put on weight, is very happy and calls Abbey Lodge her 'home'. She participates in the afternoon activities, looks forward to Tuesdays when she has her hair done, so overall she
is very happy and I am so grateful to everyone at Abbey Lodge.

I came six weeks ago. I was weak and falling about. With the wonderful care of staff, I now do not fall and also feel much stronger, no longer falling. No further injuries. I feel much happier. My weight has improved. The entertainment makes me happier, so improvement all round.

From the moment I contacted Abbey Lodge, it felt right. Their response was as if it was a member of their own family. They visited my neighbour the very next day in extreme, adverse weather. My neighbour who is a gentleman of 97 and very independent, had a rapport with the home representative immediately.
He had a choice of his care and it was designed around his needs and wishes. The home is top for cleanliness, staff are friendly and always willing to go the extra mile to please residents and visitors. It really is home from home!

My father in law has been in Abbey Lodge since March of this year after realising he could not cope, at the age of 99 years, at home alone.
The staff at Abbey Lodge have been very professional and attentive and caring to his needs.

Residents at Abbey Lodge are treated with kindness, respect and dignity. They are enabled to live independently, retain their preferences (diet, activities) and provided with support when needed. Ailments are recognised and dealt with promptly. Hairdressing, podiatry, opticians and dental services are
provided. Daily papers are available in the home and personally delivered, rooms and bathrooms are kept clean. The diet is varied. Management is efficient, available, welcoming and progressive. All staff are helpful, available and an excellent team. Garden is regularly maintained and handyman ensures everything is maintained and working. Residents are safe, well cared for ie their skin hydrated and relatives can sleep with peace knowing this.

Vini Aujla

Job Title: Manager/Director Joined: 1996

Vini Aujla oversees Abbey Lodge, She takes a highly active role in the running of Abbey Lodge and is personally on hand to provide support to residents and staff, supported by a full-time manager and deputy manager both have a wealth of knowledge in the care sector.


Abbey Lodge is a 24-bed 90% ensuite home, Vini has a background in Pharmaceuticals and Accounting.


Vini holds a level 5 in Food hygiene and Health and Safety. Abbey Lodge is deemed one of the best homes in the area, and it is a byword for quality.


Vini is working towards a Level NVQ 5 qualification in care management and Leadership. She takes pride in training and leading staff in the ethos that she believes care should be provided, and this has been directly attributed to Abbey Lodge's reputation.
