My Mum was a resident of Haslington over the past two and a half years until she passed away and I would like to recommend them.
Not only for the care they provide but also for the support they offer for families going through a difficult time.

Mum was at one time or another on all three floors of the care home, which cater to different levels of dementia. I think that the staff understand in the main that this is a trying time especially as your relative deteriorates and they are very supportive.

Overall Experience

My mother was a resident of Haslington for two and a half years until she passed away in October 2017. Mum was always happy, clean and well nourished throughout her time there and I was always made to feel welcome. Her room and communal areas were always clean and well kept too. When mum was dying the staff showed compassion and dignity and gave us as a family, the time we needed. The staff never knew when I was likely to visit as I live 150 miles away, but whenever I turned up the staff and residents were always happy and safe and I never found a situation that I was unhappy about. I feel we found a safe, secure and well run home for my mum and would highly recommend Haslington.

Reply from Carol Jansz, Director at Haslington Lodge Care Home

It is so difficult to live so far away and not be able to visit as often as you would wish. This poor lady had many health problems but was always so uncomplaining and knew very well how much she was loved by her family.

Haslington Residential Home is a care home specialising in dementia care. It provides an "open door policy". A visit can be made any time of day showing "nothing to hide". The staff are always polite and cheerful. All residents appear happy and clean. I can understand why the clients have arrived from other care homes.

My mum went into Haslington Residential Home in November 2015. In the time that she has been there, she has become much less agitated than she was when living at home. The care and carers are wonderful. Each one is so caring and I really feel that they respect and have mom's best interests at heart. Mom has put on weight too with the lovely food. I have nothing but praise for Haslington Residential Home and feel so grateful that they were able to take my mom.

Overall Experience
It was difficult for us to decide where was best for someone we cared deeply about to live, due to their dementia. We could not have made a better choice than giving Haslington responsibility for his welfare. They understand the condition and we found that all the staff treat the residents with kindness and respect.
He was encouraged to regard it as his home, rather than being in a home. The food was well prepared and presented. His bedroom and facilities were kept very clean. His clothes were regularly laundered. Any medical problems were dealt with efficiently and we were kept informed.
We visited often and always unannounced, sometimes for prolonged periods, so we consider we would have been aware of any noticeable shortcomings in the care they provided.

We have no hesitation in recommending Haslington to anyone faced with a similar situation.
