The home became 'Lindau' when bought in December 1985 by Mr and Mrs Curtis Christie. The name comes from a city in Bavaria in the extreme South of Germany, freely translated in English means "a green and grassy plain filled with peace and tranquillity". Lindau is located within a small seaside town which is a 5 minute walk to the beach, good access to shops, public transport and other amenities.

In 1986, the home grew from a registration of eight residents in six bedrooms to fifteen residents in fourteen bedrooms. Three years later and the home was enlarged again to twenty-four single size of rooms and one double, many of which have en-suite toilets. The home was bought by a father and son in 2006 who still own the home to date. This was extended to twenty six residents in 2008. In 2010 an additional floor was built bringing the number of bedrooms to 37 single rooms 27 of which are en-suite. Bedrooms range in size with newly refurbished rooms being very well presented.

At Lindau, residents can enjoy a wide variety of entertainments and activities. Indoors there are many activities including arts and crafts, musical bingo, chair exercises, greyhound racing, horse racing, playing cards, or board games. The garden has been completely landscaped in 2021 with large patio areas for residents to sit outside and enjoy the garden.

Due to COVID, I could not complete a rating on the rooms. But I am very happy with what goes on at the home. Given the restrictions, due to COVID, my opinion is based more on restricted visits and phone conversations and my trust in the manager, which is good.

No hesitation in recommending Lindau, 5 star.
My mother is well cared for, the staff are very friendly and helpful and keep me well informed. I feel very supported and feel happy to know my mother is in safe and capable hands.

The team at Lindau are outstanding and have exceeded all our expectations. They go above and beyond to maintain a high standard of care, ensuring my mum is happy and comfortable, always respecting her dignity and privacy. Not only are the team great at caring for our mum, but have accommodated us through
this difficult time, especially with the restrictions in place and visiting so restricted. A lovely, homely atmosphere.

The manager has done an amazing job keeping the residents safe during Covid. Along with all the staff, who have been exceptional, have worked so hard during this difficult time, trying to keep things as normal as possible for the residents. They have all gone above and beyond in their care for the residents.
The planning by the manager for events has been appreciated by the residents.

The warm, cheerful, welcome was very special thank you. Every day and night since then my brother has had lovely care and enjoying better health and the meals are all pureed and thickening liquid is amazing. Everyone is a star. The garden is appreciated.

My brother transferred to Linau from another care home as his needs increased. After an initial settling in period exchanged a three-room flat for a single room he is now happily settled and adjusted to his accommodation and increased level of care. The attitude and level of care shown by members of
staff have been instrumental in achieving this. They have my admiration and grateful thanks.

We were surprised how quickly our sister settled into Lindau and how quickly she started to eat again, after not eating in hospital. It has proved a good move for her.


We were kept fully informed, when she was very ill for a while, and she was treated with care and concern.


The staff seem very

happy and work very well together. They are pleasant and friendly to their guests and visitors alike.

A very friendly home with an emphasis on making residents feel comfortable and engaged. Close personal attention, good quality food with refreshments available all day. Activities both within and outside the home organised - this includes trips to the seafront. Efficient admin and staff engagement high.
Good level of interaction with relatives/ friends of residents. Staff always pleasant and willing to assist.
