Overall, very good. The staff are always very approachable and helpful as are the management from my experience and Mum has settled in well. She has been at Alexander House for over a year now and we are very happy with the care she receives there.

The most important thing for me is that I feel secure in the fact that my wife is safe, secure and well cared for by the staff at Alexander House.
I try and visit once a week. I call to make an appointment to visit and when I arrive the staff are always very welcoming. I see my wife almost always in
her room and I can tell from looking around she has been properly cared for. As her condition deteriorates over the months she still receives the same care and without prompting she will say how much she appreciates the support she receives from the staff.
I only visit my wife in her room so can’t comment on other aspects. The parts of the building I pass through are well-maintained.

Dad has lived in this care home since 2020. He is always complimentary about the staff who he says are all very kind and friendly. Dad settled in at the home rapidly, he is included in activities and has made friends amongst the other residents. I contact Dad most days, my interactions with staff have
always been friendly and professional. This has been reinforced when I have visited Dad. I am made welcome and the atmosphere in the home is friendly. Staff always have time to talk to Dad, and when they talk to me it is clear that they have engaged with him and have listened to what he has told them. Dad is well cared for and feels supported. When Dad has any health issues the family is kept informed. The standard of care provided is very high. The home is clean and tidy. Communication with the home management is open and honest.

Our friend entered the home at the beginning of Covid. She has dementia. As we were not allowed to visit we depended on emails, phone calls and for our friend calls from a friend each day. Becoming a resident is very much against your will but safety and health are a needed requirement. For her to settle
it depended on the training given to staff and the care requirements they gave to residents. Time in the home proved very difficult due to the aggressive behaviour of our friend due to Alzheimer's. Over the current year with the help of the home and our input as friends has seen an improvement with her. We know she is cared for and there will always be changes required but this is helped by communication with the care team at the home.

My wife came to Alexander House after two months in two other care homes. From the beginning, she was more settled, more cooperative and less stressed.
The home is spacious and clean. The staff are friendly and helpful and I no longer worry whether my wife is being properly cared for.

My impressions of the home during my mother-in-law's stay was that it was clean warm and welcoming and she was well looked after. We live a good distance away but had regular updates from the manager. Always willing to help us.

Mum moved here after being in and out of hospital for a while she has settled in nicely and is loving having people around her and has made some lovely friends, staff are very attentive and the manager is always on hand to ask any questions. So glad we chose Alexander House.

My father has been a resident at Alexander House since 2020. He has settled well there given that he was admitted between Covid outbreaks. Not being able to see him except through a window was hard on all of us. As I live close by I am now able to drop in almost anytime. He has a number of health issues
and is approaching his 92nd birthday. He is happy and certainly enjoys his food having put on weight. There have been instances when the district nurse or ambulance called and he was taken to hospital for treatment and returned.
The building itself may appear tired but I have seen maintenance work on a number of occasions taking place. Covid shutdowns must have made maintenance difficult.
Having been in various other residential homes with dementia residents it is nice to see staff interact with them. This week for example a number of residents were being entertained by a local musician on the guitar singing and dancing at 11am in the morning. The manager is always willing to speak to family.

Always receive a warm, friendly welcome when we visit Mum. Always call prior to visiting to check if it’s convenient for a visit, as I have a 350 mile drive. Never had any problem.
Staff are always friendly and professional and always offer us a refreshment.
Alexander House is always clean and residents
are very well cared for.

My mother is very happy after settling in over a year ago, she loves the staff and the lovely food and is being very well cared for. One of the cooks I have known for quite some time and she is very compassionate about her cooking plus a great for a laugh like all the staff that I have met.

My mum was unable to cope at home following the death of our dad, we visited Alexander House and were pleased with the staff and the setting. Mum settled in very well and she is happy and content there. The staff are kind and caring towards her.

I have lived here for nearly 2 years and wouldn't want to be anywhere else now. The girls and lads are spot-on and nothing is ever too much trouble. The food is top-notch! and the beer. I have a lot of freedom to come and go if I want to but I stay in now with the virus about, I don't want to bring
it in.

My mother is not the easiest lady to look after and can be very stubborn but they won her around and she has settled in and seems very happy. The staff are very patient with her can’t wait to get back to see her soon.

I am not impressed with the new telephone answering system. We are happy with our family member's care. Look forward to when we can visit properly and visit their room area to ensure that that area of care is ok.

I was most impressed from the first moment I arrived from the hospital. The welcome was warm, gentle and comforting. Help was given, again in a very gentle way. I came in on respite care and since this was new to me, everything was explained clearly. Now that I am here as a resident the circumstances
have changed but not the help and assurance. That remains intact.

Staff at Alexander House are amazing! Very friendly and knowledgeable.
I feel my parents are well cared for, and that is a huge burden off my mind. Had a lovely visit today and Christmas lunch, which was a great time to catch up and share memories with my dear parents.

We had a very enjoyable time. Food was excellent. The staff are wonderful, when I visit they always do their best to make me feel at home with a cup of tea. They look after my friend very well, she is always clean and well dressed.

I have worked in residential care since 2003, where I began my career as a care assistant and progressed throughout the company. I had completed my NVQS 2,3,4,and RMA before becoming a manager in 2010, and later completed my QCF level 5. I enjoy the daily challenges, but most of all, I get the greatest job satisfaction when I feel I've made someone's day no matter how big or small! Seeing our service users happy makes me happy, and having a team who consistently wants to give a high standard of care and embed a holistic person centred care approach makes it all possible.

I graduated as a general nurse in 2020, completing a one-year internship in Romania during my studies. After moving to the UK, I began working in a nursing home as a carer and gradually progressed through various roles including Senior Carer, Duty Manager, Liaison Manager, and Infection Control Lead. These experiences sparked my passion for leadership and inspired me to pursue a career in management within social care. I’m currently studying Business Administration and will graduate this July. I also hold an NVQ Level 5 in Health and Social Care, and my next step is a Master’s degree at LSBF London. My motivation comes from making a positive difference in the lives of those we care for and supporting teams to deliver the best possible standards. Originally started out in childcare and after a long gap to raise my family and I needed a change, I applied to Alexander House for a cleaning job which I enjoyed, 10 years later I'm still there now as a Team leader and NVQ 3 in adult care. Every day is different, dementia and elderly care is now a passion it takes dedication, resilience and a commitment to make every life happy, dignified and part of a family. Other than having my own children it's the most rewarding role I've ever had.

I have worked in care since i was 18 years old, having started off in a care home where I then decided to do community care. I fell pregnant with my first child and after going on maternity leave, I decided I wanted to go back into care home environment to do nights to fit around my family life. I started worked in Alexander House, where I have now been for over 10 years. I started in Alexander House as a night care worker due to my partner working during the day and this fitted round our young children, and later I became a team leader! As my children grew i grew with the home. I started days when my children started school. Become head of care and then Deputy Manager. Alexander House is my extended family and my second home. I have nvq level 2 and 3 and have completed CHAPS Training - (care home practitioner) I think of myself as a good leader and support the Registered Manager in ensuring the safety, well-being, and quality of care provided to residents is outstanding.
