We needed to find a respite home for Dad for a few weeks as he's in late stage dementia and Mum was advised by various carers that she needed a break. I was broken hearted at the thought, but a friend recommended Shakti Lodge and I'm so grateful she did. I had never been in a care home before so when we took Dad in I was extremely emotional, yet every member of staff was so compassionate and understanding, giving us the space and time we needed to settle him, whilst also being supported by Louise, who made us cups of tea and showed us a true dedication to making Dad feel as comfortable as possible. Dad stayed for the full two weeks and during that time he put on weight as the food was so nutritious and freshly cooked and took part in activities I didn't think possible anymore. Nicola is the most compassionate and wonderful manager and all the staff put their hearts and souls into providing care for every single resident. I can't recommend this lovely home highly enough.

The excellent reputation of Shakti Lodge preceded our very first interaction with the place itself. From our first visit and still the case today, our experiences of the management, the staff and the processes that keep everything running smoothly, can only be rated as positive, in every way. We have no hesitation in singing the praises of the team at Shakti Lodge, each of whom, go out of their way to do an amazing and very personalised job for my Mum, which is evident in Mum's demeanour not only during visiting but also through other observations, i.e. from events and day trips out. Yes, Shakti Lodge is a business, but it is much more a high quality home for the residents and this is exactly how it comes across at all times, professional, clean and with very high standards, but home nonetheless. I offer these positive words after many months of personal experience and definitely echo what others have said, the Alzheimers is indeed horrible, but Shakti staff ARE getting us through.

We have been able to personalise mum's bedroom by displaying photos, making it feel like home. Visiting is a joyful experience, and not restricted to certain areas or times. Shakti Lodge has enabled us to return to our roles as children rather than carers, this has taken the pressure and worry away. We are forever grateful having Shakti Lodge in our lives.

What can I say? It's been so nice to see Mum being cared for every day by such a caring group of staff. What can I say? It's been so nice to see Mum being cared for every day by such a caring group of staff. She went in at the beginning of the year for assessment and we struck gold in her being allowed to stay. When you have to watch a parent struggling with Alzheimer's it's horrible but it was worse when she was living on her own. Getting her into Shakti Lodge was perfect and Nicola and her team have just been great with Mum and with us (the family). They have welcomed us all, they've quickly learned Mum's behaviours and how to handle them but what I can't say enough good things about is the Activities Team Helen & Louise. The amount of things they do with all service users, from taking them out for lunch, bringing boxercise and other activities into the communal area & her favourite was definitely meeting the pony! Every aspect of her care has been first rate and we can relax and know until the end she will be cared for, leaving us to be her children and not her carers.

My mum came to Shakti Lodge in January 2026 for a care assessment as her Alzheimers was deteriorating and she could no longer look after herself even with daily care visits and it's been agreed that she now needs long term care. From the very start of the process Nicola (the manager) and all the staff have been wonderful and very supportive for both me and mum. Nicola did the assessment for taking her into the home and explained everything I needed to know as this was a completely new process for me. Once at Shakti, all the staff have been so friendly and helpful to mum and all our family and have taken the time to find out what triggers mums anxieties and to calm her down and give her a much better quality of life, despite her challenging behaviours . There are daily activities and we receive updates/photos via messaging app, these are things mum would never have done and its so lovely to see her smiling and enjoying herself. We can't fault the care and support that all at Shakti provide.

Mum was at Shakti Lodge from October 2021until she passed away in January 2026. Living abroad it was always a great comfort knowing Mum was being looked after with such care and respect. When mum was able they would call me on video call, so we could have a chat and I would receive photos of the many activities. The manager Nicole would always keep me updated when I went to visit and everyone was so friendly, it felt like one big family. Words cannot express my gratitude to everyone at Shakti, for the happy times, patience and especially for the care and dignity they gave Mum in her last days.

Having to place my father into a care home was, without doubt, one of the most difficult decisions I've ever had to make. He had previously spent time in several hospitals and a rehabilitation centre, where his care was not always positive. As a result, I often felt anxious and uncertain about whether he was truly receiving the support he deserved.
However, since moving to Shakti Lodge, my expectations have not only been met but exceeded. The team has completely alleviated my worries. I'm consistently impressed by the daily activities and regular updates, which reassure me that my father is not only safe but genuinely well cared for, just as I would wish for him.
Shakti Lodge has entirely transformed my perception of care facilities. Knowing he is in such capable and compassionate hands has given me the peace of mind to finally take some time for myself.

My mum has been a resident at Shakti Lodge since October 2021. Over the years she has been so well cared. The staff know the residents as individuals, their quirks and likes and dislikes. There is very little turnover of staff which in itself speaks volumes for the management of the home. Nicola (manager) took time to talk me through the end-of-life protocols recently when mums health declined and ensured that everything was in place just in case it was required over the festive season. The staff ensured that mum was made part of the Christmas dinner celebrations, supporting her to get down to the lounge even for a short time as they did not want her to miss out. My mum passed away last Saturday and I cannot express in words the kindness shown by the staff. They cared for my mum with respect and dignity throughout and I will be forever grateful to them all. I would 100% recommend Shakti Lodge to anyone looking for a loved one. It meant so much knowing she was always loved and safe.

Shakti Lodge provide a large number of activies for the residents, which Mum really enjoys, and even provided a small party in a side room for my neice's 18th birthday so Mum wasn't left out of the celebrations. My mother, now 97 years old, has been a resident at Shakti Lodge since October 2023 when with frailty increasing she was unable to live safely alone. Initially she contributed nicely to care home life, interacting with other residents and staff and participating in activities. Gradually her care...

They do a wide range of activities on a daily basis encouraging every resident to join in and enjoy then feed back to their families what they have done along with pictures showing your loved ones having a lovely time. A lovely range of food is offered and they always encourage the residents to eat . I honestly cannot fault one single thing , I'm so happy my mum gets to be part of what feels like an extended family .

Shakti Lodge is an amazing place, such care and love is shown to all, there's always activities taking place from all inclusive bingo, art/craft activities to baking especially with national and world celebrations, making croissants, cakes,cookies. Other activities are boxercise sourced from outside. They have been so supportive regarding my mother, they are so easy to correspond with. Nicola the care home manager is so supportive. I can not express the gratitude for my mum being placed at Shakti Lodge.
