My mum came to Shakti Lodge in January 2026 for a care assessment as her Alzheimers was deteriorating and she could no longer look after herself even with daily care visits and it's been agreed that she now needs long term care. From the very start of the process Nicola (the manager) and all the staff
have been wonderful and very supportive for both me and mum. Nicola did the assessment for taking her into the home and explained everything I needed to know as this was a completely new process for me. Once at Shakti, all the staff have been so friendly and helpful to mum and all our family and have taken the time to find out what triggers mums anxieties and to calm her down and give her a much better quality of life, despite her challenging behaviours . There are daily activities and we receive updates/photos via messaging app, these are things mum would never have done and its so lovely to see her smiling and enjoying herself. We can't fault the care and support that all at Shakti provide.
Reply from Nicola Murphy, Home Manager at Shakti LodgeThank you so much for your lovely feedback. We understand how difficult the transition into long-term care can be, and we are so pleased we have been able to support both you and your mum through this process.
Thank you for trusting Shakti Lodge with your mum's care - your kind words mean a great deal to our whole team.

Mum was at Shakti Lodge from October 2021until she passed away in January 2026. Living abroad it was always a great comfort knowing Mum was being looked after with such care and respect. When mum was able they would call me on video call, so we could have a chat and I would receive photos of the many
activities. The manager Nicole would always keep me updated when I went to visit and everyone was so friendly, it felt like one big family. Words cannot express my gratitude to everyone at Shakti, for the happy times, patience and especially for the care and dignity they gave Mum in her last days.
Reply from Nicola Murphy, Home Manager at Shakti LodgeThank you so much for your kind words. It was truly a privilege to care for your mum over the years, and we are so pleased we were able to provide comfort, dignity and support, especially in her final days.
We are glad the video calls and updates helped you feel connected despite the distance. Your appreciation means a great deal to our whole team, and we will always remember your mum fondly.

Having to place my father into a care home was, without doubt, one of the most difficult decisions I've ever had to make. He had previously spent time in several hospitals and a rehabilitation centre, where his care was not always positive. As a result, I often felt anxious and uncertain about whether
he was truly receiving the support he deserved.

However, since moving to Shakti Lodge, my expectations have not only been met but exceeded. The team has completely alleviated my worries. I'm consistently impressed by the daily activities and regular updates, which reassure me that my father is not only safe but genuinely well cared for, just as I would wish for him.

Shakti Lodge has entirely transformed my perception of care facilities. Knowing he is in such capable and compassionate hands has given me the peace of mind to finally take some time for myself.

Reply from Nicola Murphy, Home Manager at Shakti LodgeThank you so much for your kind and thoughtful review. We understand how difficult the decision to move a loved one into a care home can be, so it means a great deal to know that we have been able to provide reassurance and peace of mind for both you and your father.

We are delighted that you feel confident in the care, activities and communication provided by our team. Your feedback is truly appreciated and will be shared with the staff, who are dedicated to ensuring every resident feels safe, valued and well supported.

Thank you for trusting Shakti Lodge with your father's care.

My dad was here in October for respite and has not left. He is now permanent (his words). We as a family have no complaints at all which Shakti Lodge food is excellent staff very caring. Cleaning is always good. It is what it says home from home dad is so happy here. He came in Shakti Lodge needing
a lot of TLC and he has got it. Nicola as a manager is great and well always be available for a chat. Nothing is too much trouble.

My mum has been a resident at Shakti Lodge since October 2021. Over the years she has been so well cared. The staff know the residents as individuals, their quirks and likes and dislikes. There is very little turnover of staff which in itself speaks volumes for the management of the home. Nicola (manager)
took time to talk me through the end-of-life protocols recently when mums health declined and ensured that everything was in place just in case it was required over the festive season. The staff ensured that mum was made part of the Christmas dinner celebrations, supporting her to get down to the lounge even for a short time as they did not want her to miss out. My mum passed away last Saturday and I cannot express in words the kindness shown by the staff. They cared for my mum with respect and dignity throughout and I will be forever grateful to them all. I would 100% recommend Shakti Lodge to anyone looking for a loved one. It meant so much knowing she was always loved and safe.
Reply from Nicola Murphy, Home Manager at Shakti LodgeThank you for your kind and heartfelt words. It was a privilege to care for her, and we are grateful that you felt supported and reassured, particularly during such a difficult time. Your words mean a great deal to our team and will be shared with them. We are so deeply sorry for the loss of your mum and extend our sincere condolences to you and your family.
Thank you for trusting Shakti Lodge with your mum's care.

Mum was resident at Shakti Lodge from February 2025 until she sadly passed away last Sunday. The care at Shakti was outstanding throughout. Every member of staff looked after Mum like she was family. There is genuine love and care here. The staff all work together really well- they are a strong team.
There was virtually no turnover of staff so they really knew all the residents individually and respected their likes/dislikes. Such staff stability shows how well the home runs.
When Mum had her last decline and was in hospital I couldn't wait to get her back to the home where I had total confidence in her care. I was always welcome and felt very cared for and supported especially in her last days.
If you are looking for a home and you are lucky enough to find there is a vacancy, grab it with both hands. I cannot recommend Shakti enough, your loved one will get the best care possible - both day and night.

My Dad has been in Shakti Lodge since September 2024 & I have absolutely no complaints about the Home or the Staff , who are all fantastic .
Even down to taking him out fishing for the day which is something he always enjoyed which is going far beyond what you would expect from a care home.

My mum joined Shakti Lodge in August this year. I wanted to look after my mum at home but as her dementia advanced it became impossible.
It was the best thing for my mum she has settled in so well.
The staff are amazing so caring and attentive. They do so many activities which my mum loves doing
especially the boxercise she loves it.
The management are lovely so approachable anytime and so helpful.
I am so grateful my mum was placed in Shakti Lodge I don't think there is a better home and its all the staff that makes it so good and cannot thank them enough

Mum has been a esident at Shakti Lodge for the last 4 years, and the staff and manager really look after her, especially as she can no longer walk and suffers with her memory. Shakti Lodge provide a large number of activies for the residents, which Mum really enjoys, and even provided a small party
in a side room for my neice's 18th birthday so Mum wasn't left out of the celebrations. Mum enjoys being at Shakti Lodge and we really appreciate the care provided.

It may be small, but it Shakti lodge s a brilliant care home compared with national providers. Mother has been there several years, the care and attention she gets gets better and better - and it was good when she first arrived! Staff genuinely care about the residents, and nothing is too much trouble.
Great entertainment program and freshly prepared meals on site, caring staff, all led by a dedicated, inspirational manager

My mother, now 97 years old, has been a resident at Shakti Lodge since October 2023 when with frailty increasing she was unable to live safely alone. Initially she contributed nicely to care home life, interacting with other residents and staff and participating in activities. Gradually her care needs
increased and the Shakti team adapted well as she needed more personal care with increasing frailty and dementia diagnosis. Throughout this period GP and district nurse medical support, co-ordinated by the Home was excellent.
Recently she was admitted to hospital with serious diabetes complications. Now discharged for EOL care the Shakti Team have responded magnificently with oodles of love and care, and encouragement to take nutrition when able.
AS a family we could not have wished for better during Mum's two year journey from an elderly 95 year old with moderate needs to the tenderness of EOL care. All credit to Nicola the manager and the team around her.

The care home is absolutely amazing , all staff go beyond on a daily basis . The kindness and compassion and respect they give to each resident is outstanding nothing is to much trouble . They do a wide range of activities on a daily basis encouraging every resident to join in and enjoy then feed back
to their families what they have done along with pictures showing your loved ones having a lovely time. A lovely range of food is offered and they always encourage the residents to eat . I honestly cannot fault one single thing , I'm so happy my mum gets to be part of what feels like an extended family .

Excellent all round choice, The manager is very approachable and helpful, good with mum and knows her stuff, I only wish this is where mum went after a fall, we had to move her and Shakti staff made it very easy, mum is so much better at Shakti I cannot recommend it enough, there are so many positive
things I could put here on this review in favour of Shakti but to be honest there isn't enough characters to type them. If you are thinking of sending a parent/friend rest assured it's very homely and they have many activities for the elderly and come across in such a caring manner. I have seen I real difference in my mum in such a short space of time, can't recommend enough in comparison to other homes in the local area.
It's such a challenging time when searching for a care home for a loved one.
Thankyou to Shakti and the staff for making my mums move as smooth as it could have been.

My dad spent the last three years of his life in Shakti Lodge. For that time, it became his home and it felt like home. I think that was helped in part by the relatively small number of residents there but also by the friendly atmosphere created by the attitude of the staff and manager. He was well
cared for throughout, even on his more difficult days when he didn't feel like getting up, fortunately these days were few. Most weeks I visited, he would be sitting in his familiar place out in the cheery lounge, able to see people around him. He often remarked about the good food and the kindness of the staff. As a family, we will be forever grateful to all members of staff who played such a vital part of his care. Thank you.

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.884)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.884) out of 10 for Shakti Lodge is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 18 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 18 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.934 for Shakti Lodge is calculated as follows: ( (200 Excellents x 5) + (12 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 213 Ratings = 4.934
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.95 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Shakti Lodge is based on 18 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.95
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 26 registered maximum number of service users is 5.2, which has been reached with 18 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
