Newland House

Newland House has been excellent, a home from home for my mother. The staff are wonderful, always with a smile and always willing to help from the handyman to kitchen staff, carers and manager. They really care.

The team are amazing, so friendly and reassuring. Calling me with updates and putting my mind at rest. Very clean and welcoming and catered to my friend's needs.

I was very apprehensive and emotional when looking for a care home for mum. However, the kindness and professionalism I received from the manager has been outstanding. From my initial enquiry to mum being admitted, the process was smooth and stress-free. The staff are dedicated and caring, treating both mum and myself with dignity and respect. Mum is happy and safe and has given me peace of mind, knowing she is with people who care and value her.

My husband came in for a week's respite care. He suffers from vascular dementia so it was all rather strange to him, but the staff looked after him very well. He is not one for socialising, but they encouraged him to come down for meals and participate in activities. He said how lovely the ladies were particularly when they sorted him out after he had an accident. The house had a lovely friendly atmosphere and I would feel quite happy about him coming to you again for respite.

Mum has been a resident at Newland House since October 2015 and since then mum has built up some truly amazing relationships with the team. In the last year, Newland House has really blown my expectations of care and I cannot praise the staff or the manager enough. I would highly recommend Newland House to anyone and everyone.

Dad has been living in Newland House for two years. Throughout my adult, life care homes received negative press. Newland House has altered my view and proved what a valuable role care homes can play in caring for our loved ones.

The staff are wonderful, always kind, compassionate and respectful and deal with the daily necessities but much more including organising appointments, administering medication, writing and updating comprehensive care plans, sourcing equipment and engaging him in activities. They all know dad well and can spot when he is out of sorts and liaise with health professionals when required. The care appears seamless but it is obvious that a huge amount of effort is put in behind the scenes.

Newland House Is a well-managed home that is clean, bright, fresh and well maintained.

I would highly recommend Newland House and feel lucky that we found such a warm, safe and homely environment for dad. I am so grateful to the fantastic team who look after dad so well.

A comprehensive care plan which reflects dads needs and capabilities. It demonstrated a knowledge of dads preferences, so time and care had been taken to speak to dad regarding these.

We felt sure mum was in a safe place and she was happy there. There was a varied programme of activities.

I visited Newland House to see an old friend who I had not seen in several years. Staff made me feel very welcome and I could clearly see that they put their heart and soul into everything that they do. It was so nice to see residents with a smile on their face and staff encouraging residents to get involved with day to day tasks. Visiting Newlands has really changed my perception of care homes.

The interior is in the process of being redecorated and is looking lovely. My mother eats sparingly but never complains about the food a good sign.

The staff at Newland House were attentive of the needs of my Aunt. They were always kind and caring. I was always informed of any changes in her health and the Doctors at the local surgery were called without hesitation if they were concerned. My Aunt was in the home for three years before she passed away and the same staff were there throughout. This continuation of care meant they knew and understood her needs at all time.

A lovely welcoming home. The staff were very nice and made my mother who has dementia very comfortable. They looked after her very well and she was very happy. My father was reassured that she was being taken care of and this made him happy to leave her for a few days before visiting. Our thanks to everyone at Newland House.

The staff are always welcoming in spite of a busy workload and work well as a team. Some have been in post all the years I visited. I congratulate them for their excellent care and praise them for their very valuable work.

Newland House is not a "typical" care home. It is a very friendly community where all the residents are treated with dignity, dedication and with utmost respect. The staff are jolly, upbeat in manner, enthusiasm and genuinely interested in all the residents they care for. They also cater for all the residents individual needs as they present themselves at any given time. The manager herself is extremely open and honest- telling one how things really are- with much insight and understanding.

It's such a relief to know my wife is safe and well cared for now I can't manage. She's very happy and the carers are lovely.

My mother is well cared for by a lovely team of carers. The manager and deputy are friendly and welcoming, and promote a high standard of care. Mother always looks well groomed, her behaviour can be challenging at times, this is dealt with in a kind and professional manner by all. The home is always clean, residents are treated as individuals. All the staff including the handyman, cook and cleaners as well as managers and carers threat all residents with respect and care.

A warm welcome with friendly staff. A homely feel with no urine smells. Residents all seem happy too. They do great activities and have great entertainment like a someone playing the piano and singing the old songs back in their day. Great atmosphere in there too.

Mum, aged 92, moved from Portsmouth to Newland House in October 2014, after family concerns regarding her ability to cope on her own in her flat, due to both memory and mobility problems. Newland House is a welcoming friendly home and not being huge (26 rooms max) has a real family feel to it. We have been so impressed by the love, care and support both mum, and on some occasions when she was very poorly family, have received from the staff. Mum loves being there, she has put on weight, enjoys taking part in activities and talks enthusiastically about all the staff. We have complete faith in the staff who support her and completely understand her needs. We know she is safe and happy, which is reassuring to her family.
