This is a friendly, caring home, welcomes visitors. Resident appear to be happy and settled. The care is described as offering dignity and involvement by my mother. Concerns from us as relatives are listened to and addressed.
Both the manager and head of care are always available when I wish to discuss any concerns. All the staff are polite and cheerful at all times and really seem to care about the residents. My father was previously in respite at another care home, which he hated and I had grave concerns about with respect to the care provided. Since coming to Spencer Court he has settled (came in 7th December), and he has now accepted it as his permanent home.
Very attentive and very nice manner.
Always pleasant but I don't really have any real experience of Spencer House. The staff all seem friendly and helpful.
I ave found the staff caring, helpful and efficient.
I am happy, well looked after. The food is good and varied. I get on with most of the carers. Everyone is friendly and chatty, and they take care of me. It's a laid back casual place and I feel comfortable and at home.
Lovely location, generally very friendly staff. Attentive carers spend time and effort looking after residents.
My mother and my half sister came to Spencer Court in Nov 2011. Spencer Court felt like an answer to my prayer! My 96 year old mother was very resistant to leaving her home particularly because she had always shared it with my half sister who has mild learning disabilities. Spencer Court suggested taking them both and they were given adjacent rooms. This was an inspired decision and has transformed my sisters life particularly because she has been dominated by my mother who had always underestimated her. For both of them it was the perfect solution and my sister has blossomed through sensitive and understanding care. They are always happy and any query I have had has been respected and effectively dealt with.
My aunt went into the home last December. It took her a long while to settle in but with all the help and care from the manager and staff she really enjoys living there now. She joins in all the activities and she's made a lot of new friends.
The team have created a lovely environment
The only thing that could be improved on is the quality of food.
Thank you for taking the time to write such a lovely review. I will of course pass on your comments regarding the food to our kitchen team.
All the staff at Spencer Court are extremely helpful and friendly. They treat the residents with respect and are willing to spend time to chat and accommodate the needs as far as possible. I am phoned immediately if there are any problems or health issues regarding my uncle. I have complete peace of mind that my uncle is getting the care and respect he deserves in spencer court.
Great place, great staff, can't fault Spencer Court.
My husband came to Spencer Court for a temporary stay after an unsatisfactory stay in another home. The care has been exceptional by comparison and he has been very happy. All the staff are well trained and show great professionalism as well as compassion, patience and good humour. I am always welcome to stay with him at any time of day which has enabled us to establish some normality in our relationship during this period of enforced separation due to delays in completion of our new permanent accommodation.
Staff so friendly and helpful. A really lovely home. Cannot rate this home highly enough.
I am delighted to think that my husband has settled in so quickly. To me the place is absolutely fantastic. Everyone of the staff is so caring. Each person is treated as a special individual. The meals are 100%. The whole place is immaculate. We now call the care home is holiday home! We feel so lucky to have found this wonderful home.
I have only visited a couple of times and it seems the home is extremely well run. All of the residents seem very happy.
My father has been in Spencer Court for five weeks, after starting to wander from home for over six hours and worrying us all. He has settled in and looks healthier and happier and feels safe and respected. The staff are very kind to him and call him a gentleman. They respect his dignity and work very hard, from the manager through to the gardener.
We as a family don't feel we could have found a better home for her, and are happy with how he home looks after her.

Meet the Team (4)

Angela began her career in the care sector as soon as she turned 18 following providing care to a family member at a young age, she knew this was the career for her from that moment. She loves making a difference to individuals residing in the home and supporting her teams within their roles.
She has progressed within her career in a nursing home environment and throughout the last 11 years, she has been privileged to have been provided the most outstanding training and support to be able to confidently manage Spencer Court and to support each and every staff member to achieve their goals and be the best they can be.
She has an NVQ level 3 in health and social care, a city and guilds accredited living in my world dementia qualification and she is currently In progress with her level 5 management NVQ. The dedicated team at Spencer Court work with her to deliver the highest standards of person-centred care and achieve the best outcomes in every aspect for each individual residing at the home.
She feels privileged to take care of people’s loved ones and treat each individual as she would her own family.
Spencer Court is a beautiful home situated in the outstanding community of Woodstock and we certainly take every opportunity to make frequent visits with our residents to the beautiful Blenheim Palace.
Angela has lived in Oxford all her life and in her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her daughter, partner & family, reading and attending to her allotment.

Jane has worked at Spencer Court since 2012, starting her career as a carer before working her way up to care leader and now the head of care. Jane holds a number of qualifications in health and social care and has recently completed her level 4 diploma in Adult care and also holds a level 3 diploma in leadership and management. Jane knew she always wanted to work in the care sector following caring for both Grandparents when she was younger.
Jane has many fond memories of working at Spencer Court over the years and feels it a very lovely place to work, it feels part of a community and the residents and staff make it so warm and welcoming. She feels they are so lucky to have a link with Blenheim Palace which means lots of trips up to the Palace and grounds when the weather permits.
Jane enjoys spending time with her young family in her free time including walking their dog, going on day trips and holidays. She enjoys gardening and spending time outdoors where she can.

Candy has been one of Spencer Court’s Care Leaders since 2017 and has over 20 years’ experience working in the care sector, holding Health and Social Care NVQs at levels 2 and 3. She started as a cook and then decided to step into the care team, eventually becoming care leader.
Candy loves talking to the residents and her caring nature means she finds it easy to be supportive towards them as well as towards her colleagues.

Elaine is our chef here at Spencer Court. She joined us after a long career in catering which has seen her working in hospitals, private houses, pubs, and cafes. Elaine has always loved working with food and has gained many qualifications in catering and hospitality as well as team management to support her practical experience.
Elaine enjoys working at Spencer Court; she says her team is like a little family in the kitchen and she enjoys working as part of that team. She loves preparing meals for the residents and ensuring they have a balanced and nutritious diet.
Building on that, Elaine’s goal is to see that each resident is happy with their meals and that she can provide the little extras they so enjoy so that everyone has their favourite things.
Out of work, Elaine loves gardening and DIY as well as Jazzercise. She even taught Jazzercise for five years! It helps keep her fit and well, emotionally and physically.
