Bridge House Care Home offers high-quality residential care in an idyllic setting for up to 30 elderly people.

Bridge House is an impressive Tudor-style building that dates back to the 16th century and although it has been modernised with two large extensions many of its original features have been retained.

The home benefits from 2 spacious lounges, both of which overlook the beautiful extensive grounds.

Situated in Elstead, Surrey, Bridge House can also extend its services to look after those with temporary respite care needs, thanks to a dedicated team of carers.

Having moved my mother from a previous and unsatisfactory care home, we chose Bridge House after recommendations from a friend. It was the best decision ever made. The staff have treated my mother with dignity and compassion from day one. They are very caring and nothing is too much trouble. My mother
is so happy now and has blossomed under their care.

My father was admitted to Bridge House the day before all visits were banned because of COVID in March 2020. So, not an ideal start as we moved him local to us so that we make regular visits. However, the staff did their best to keep him content and we had regular video calls to reassure him we were
still about until such time when we were allowed visits again. All care homes had a difficult time in early 2021 and Bridge House was no exception. There have been a lot of staff changes over the last year due to Covid, but his care has always been to a good standard and we are pleased we chose this care home for him. Most of the staff have a soft spot for him and it shows when they speak to him. We communicate regularly with the care home manager and she keeps us well informed of his health and well being when we can’t visit. Overall I think we chose the best home for him, his tastes are simple and doesn’t want for much, but he does receive the best of care and attention.

Thank you so much for taking the time to review our home. We are so glad that you have found the care for your father has been good, the staff helpful and that the home has been supportive to you during these difficult times. Thank you again.

Most of the caring staff are good but that is about all I can say that is positive. The management seem to want to get rid of any decent staff and replace them with agency staff. They have not had a proper chef/cook since they sacked the chef who did cook reasonable meals, at present, they have a carer
doing the cooking whilst she does her best she is not a trained chef and it shows. When Covid is over or our relative has had the vaccination we will be moving her if things to not improve dramatically!
Please don't take too much notice of what the CQC say as they are only interested in the paperwork!
Reply from Alison Daly, Home Manager at Bridge House Care Home

Thank you for your review. We take all concerns and comments received extremely seriously as the health and wellbeing of residents is our absolute priority. The issues you have raised over the past few months have, as you are aware, been the focus of both an internal and external inspection review which both provided positive feedback when looking at the care and support provided by our team at Bridge House.

With regards to the kitchen staff arrangements, I am sure you will appreciate that whilst we were waiting to appoint a new full-time chef, we were doing our utmost to ensure that we continued to provide freshly prepared and nutritious food to everyone living in the home, particularly over the festive period. Our new chef has now started work.

I would be happy to meet with you at a convenient time to further discuss these and any other concerns you may have and I do hope that you will reconsider my request, as I believe this to be in the best interests of everyone concerned.

Well received at reception, with good detailed advice for the wait. Good provision of PEE and hand sanitizing instructions, in particular in the resident's room very clear i.e. distancing, etc. Staff friendly and obviously caring.

Since my mother's admission at Bridge House, she has been made to feel welcome and at home. The standard of genuine care has way exceeded our expectations. The quality of food is fantastic and the continuity of staff members is reassuring and welcome.
Bridge House is the definition of "care home".
Thank you.

I was welcomed by the receptionist very warmly. She was very keen to show me around from the kitchen, bathrooms/shower rooms, large sunn lounge/dining rooms, gardens and also a vacant room. She explained everyday life for a resident their safety, medical care and laundry system. I was introduced to
the manager who was more than happy to discuss my father's needs and past issues and reassured me that life here he would receive kindness and dignity now he is a resident, settled and happy.

Due to deteriorating health, my father-in-law went to stay at Bridge House in April this year, he settled in quickly despite being partially sighted. All of the staff have gone out of their way to help him settle in they had his room decorated in the colour of his choice before he arrived and made sure
they used brightly coloured crockery to try and help him see where things were.
His health has deteriorated in the last month, and he has become completely bed-bound. We have no worries about him as the staff are always going the extra mile giving him the love and care he needs.
I would highly recommend Bridge House to anyone looking for excellent care for a loved one.

I am happy for my father to be in Bridge House. I feel he is well looked after but still allowed to maintain his independence. I feel that they have gone above and beyond to accommodate his needs e.g. providing him with a room key also being very diligent in keeping me informed when I have had concerns
about him.

My experience of Bridge House Care Home has been very positive. The staff have always been friendly and welcoming. My elderly mother is at present bedridden and receiving high-quality care. The staff are very aware of her physical needs they turn her regularly and try their best to tempt her to eat.
She is happy and content with the care she receives.

My friend has been in Bridge House for three months. They are incredibly supportive of her helping her to cope with the huge changes that have happened to her.
When I visit she's clean and happy and enjoying the afternoon activities musical/singing.
The staff are protective of her right to be treated
as an intelligent adult and I've found this aspect of her care excellent. She is safe, warm, happy, clean and comfortable and has made lots of friends. Thank you.

My mum only recently moved here after a long search.
She has been treated with great kindness and care by the whole team at Bridge House.
I knew the moment I walked in that this was the right place for Mum, homely, quirky and two gorgeous resident cats.
A company is only as good as the staff it employs

My Aunt has been well cared for at Bridge House for a number of years. She is now very frail and dependent on help for most things. Whilst no care home can be perfect, Bridge house and the staff team are high up on the scale! And much appreciated, especially as I live in the North of Scotland and my
visits are limited to 4 or 5 times a year. Visitors are always welcomed and free to spend as much time as they wish with their relative/friend.

When someone can no longer be looked after on their own home, Bridge House is the next best place to be. It has such a lovely homely feeling.
Whoever opens the front door always has a smile and friendly welcome.
All staff from management down are all so caring and nothing is every too much trouble
for them. Our grateful thanks goes to them all from myself and my daughter. I have visited friends in much more luxurious homes but nothing compares to the homely, friendly feeling at Bridge House.

My mother-in-law was very frail and malnourished when she first came to Bridge house. A spell in a local rehab hospital was unable to care for her needs or get her to eat but after a short while at Bridge house, she was back to her old self. Very happy and well cared for. She speaks highly of all the
staff who try to encourage her to take part in the fabulous activities.

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.604)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.604) out of 10 for Bridge House Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 9 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.704 for Bridge House Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (76 Excellents x 5) + (32 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 108 Ratings = 4.704
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.9 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Bridge House Care Home is based on 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.9
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 30 registered maximum number of service users is 6, which has been reached with 9 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
