Bridge House Care Home offers high-quality residential care in an idyllic setting for up to 30 elderly people.

Bridge House is an impressive Tudor-style building that dates back to the 16th century and although it has been modernised with two large extensions many of its original features have been retained.

The home benefits from 2 spacious lounges, both of which overlook the beautiful extensive grounds.

Situated in Elstead, Surrey, Bridge House can also extend its services to look after those with temporary respite care needs, thanks to a dedicated team of carers.

Each time I have visited my sister I was made very welcome and was very pleased with the relationship between the staff and the residents. I have noticed my sister's improvement in attention and her long-term memory as well as her contentment in being in a safe place. She is taking care of herself and
is dressing better as well as relating to other residents.

I used to live in Westbrook Hill and visited Bridge House then and I was so impressed, had no hesitation bringing my sister in law there when her time came. There is always a friendly welcome and the residents are all so happy and chatty. May you keep up the valuable work for years to come.

I came to visit my friend and had lunch which was delicious. Everything in the home is excellent. It does not feel like a residential home but a real family home. The house and gardens are beautiful. I will be attending the events that are taking place in the summer.

My mother has been at Bridge House for several years now and has just had her 96th Birthday there. I am absolutely delighted and relieved with how happy she seems to be there. The staff ALWAYS open the front door with a smile and treat my mother with caring, friendly respect. The home is surrounded
by lawns and trees which my mother especially loves and she has a lovely view from her window. There are plenty of activities and she never seems bored or lonely or depressed. I have been to many "posher" and more luxurious care homes but Bridge House has a really friendly down to earth "villagey" feel to it and the staff seem to stick around and are committed to their residents, unlike some places which are like "dead" 5 star hotels. Celebrations like Christmas, Easter and Summer Fairs are lively and relaxed with lots of visiting dogs and children and laughter.

My mother was a resident at Bridge House for over 11 years up until her death. She was loved and respected by the staff and we cannot speak too highly of the care that she received through her time there and of the way that she and the family were supported through her final days.
Bridge House was
truly her home and the staff became part of her family. It also speaks highly of the home that a number of the staff who welcomed her in 2006 still work at Bridge House.

I cannot recommend Bridge House highly enough. The entire team cared for my mother-in-law with great compassion, kindness and professionalism. When she died in her beautiful room, surrounded by people she trusted to care for her, I know it was the best possible end to her long, adventurous life. Heartfelt
thanks to everyone at Bridge House.

We are always made welcome when visiting our dear friend at Bridge House Care Home. We can visit anytime to suit us. Our friend is always relaxed, cheerful and in good spirits. She is extremely happy and seems very contented. Prior to living here, she was against living in a care home. Now she often
remarks that she wants to stay at Bridge House Care Home forever. I can honestly say that I never worry about our friend as I am confident that all of her needs are met.

My mother went in for respite. The staff were all so incredibly friendly and eager to help. The home itself feels like no other home I have seen with lots of personal touches that make it feel special. The leaving date for my mother kept changing but they didn't mind at all. The rooms are lovely and
the building itself is beautiful. The residents all seem lovely and happy.
I would be happy for my mother to go there again.

My mother has been a resident at Bridge House for 11 years. We, as a family, have always been very happy with the care this home has provided. The staff are always kind and of good humour and their care is and always has been exceptional. My mother has been, and is very happy here. I would say that
the standard of the home has risen year on year - for instance, recently all the linen has been replaced, dining and sitting room have had their chairs and tables renewed - walls painted and decorated. It really is an uplifting place to visit. this year the manager provided the first village fete in the garden to which loads came and joined in for the first time. The food is wonderful - choice of 3 dishes for lunch, a great menu and all dietary regime meals.

When it came time for my grandmother to move into a residential home, I was extremely anxious about it. I honestly felt there wouldn't be anywhere I would be happy to leave her. Bridge House has totally proven me wrong. The rooms, food and activities are great, however above all, the staff are fantastic,
caring and hard working. I can confidently say that my grandmother is happy here, something I did not expect to happen.

Aunt was so happy living alone but the families decision to move into care was the best thing for Aunt as she has settled so well and loves the new environment, activities etc. Meals are enjoyed and thankfully we have an amazing chef who likes to tempt the taste buds.

I am very pleased that I chose this care home for my mother and so are all the friends and relations who have visited her in the two months she has been there. She is 91 and her dementia was getting worse and she had a mini-stroke, but she is settling in well.
In spite of recruitment problems, the
staff could hardly be better at what they do. We visit anytime we like, usually with our dog and are always made to feel at home.

My mother-in-law has improved since she moved to the home in December 2016 she looks groomed, well looked after- clean clothes, hair cut. She feels better. She keeps saying- "this is such a pleasant place, can't be better!" She has slightly improved mentally- more relaxed, less complaints about her
state of mind (she has Alzheimer's since 2013) This all big thanks to the staff- nice food, clean place and a lot of activities to stimulate the brain.

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.604)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.604) out of 10 for Bridge House Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 9 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.704 for Bridge House Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (76 Excellents x 5) + (32 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 108 Ratings = 4.704
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.9 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Bridge House Care Home is based on 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.9
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 30 registered maximum number of service users is 6, which has been reached with 9 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
