Overall Experience
My mum is in Glendale and her care is exceptional. We choose Glendale having been shown round by Sarah the receptionist, and it was obvious that she had a connection with all the residents she encountered, which left a lasting impression on my wife and I.
I find all the staff to be friendly and caring, not only to my mum but to me as well, which gives me peace of mind in the knowledge she is being looked after well. My mum enjoys the meals and finds them tasty and filling and is starting to join in the various activities provided during the week which the staff encourage her to do, so, I don't have to worry she is sitting alone in her room. The carehome administrator Hope, was so helpful getting the contacts and forms sorted it made what can be a difficult time, much more bearable.

Overall my mum is happy and feels well cared for which in turn gives me peace of mind. I would recommend Glendale to anyone who values care and compassion when looking for a place for their loved one.

What a lovely care home. My mum has been at Glendale since February and has settled in very well. It is nice to know that when all family member's leave. We are happy + that mum is in capable hands of the staff. Mum loves the activities and has made some nice things so she can keep in her room. The rooms are lovely and kept very clean and what I like is the windows are opened every day for some fresh air.

Glendale provides a welcoming, friendly and safe environment for my Mother who suffers from dementia as well as other ailments. Since moving into Glendale in February I feel as if I have got my old Mum back, she is happy, talkative and comfortable. Whereas when she received care in her home she was isolated and rapidly declining. At home she was prone to falls and erratic behaviour. Since Feb she has had not one fall. I think this is down to her new safe environment. She has regular nourishing meals, timely medication and regular interaction with others. We all find it difficult when the time comes to choose a care home. We, including my Mum, have no regrets at all. I am now happy that my Mum's final years will be as good as they can be with her new friends in Glendale.

My wife (the resident's sister) and I were pleased with the care provided. The acting manager through to other staff provided a good service, for which we are grateful. Activities were on offer, which helped to brighten the day.

My sister had been a resident at Glendale Care Home since February 2025, we choose Glendale out of the many other local Care Homes available due to the enthusiastic and caring receptionist that carried out our show round. She introduced us to staff members whilst walking us through the home, we could see that the residents were being well cared for and seemed very happy. Throughout my sisters time in Glendale the staff were very helpful and caring towards my sister.
In the final weeks of my sister's time at Glendale the senior team leaders were absolutely excellent, providing the extra support and care my sister required, along with keeping the family informed of my sister's condition.
Overall I would say Glendale Care Home provides excellent service and care facilities for your loved ones.

The care home does require some urgent refurbishment and redecorating works to smarten the facilities up.

I wouldn't want my mum anywhere else. From entering the main reception, always a warm greeting. Clean and welcoming atmosphere and decor. Activities are organised for twice daily and are varied to include as many residents as possible. This can't be easy to plan. Laundry is always fresh, rooms clean, lounge area cosy. Staff and team leaders are very present and always approachable.

My mother has resided at Glendale for nearly three years, she has been very happy here - mainly die to the care and compassion shown by all staff.
The highlight of Mum's week was when there was entertainment, especially singing.

My thanks and gratitude to all, especially Sarah, Stephanie, Tracey and Emmanuel.

My mum has been living here for a few months now, and her room is very nice and a good size and en-suite, which gives her some independence. The staff are all very friendly and helpful, always checking on mum to see if she is ok. The staff keep you up to date on everything, from mum's health and activities. So happy with this care home.

My sister was a resident there for about 15 months. She passed away on Christmas Eve. The care was overall very good.

After she passed I noticed a lot of her clothes were missing. I was very disappointed as they were quite serviceable and could have been donated. A dart trophy was also missing which was upsetting as it was her pride and joy. Some of the present staff, unfortunately, are not very dynamic and I feel they should be trained better in Elderly Care. A couple of male carers didn't even manage a smile or introduce themselves.

My mother has been living at Glendale for 3 years now and my last review was in September 2023. Much of my then comments still stand, the staff are kind and caring. However, the communication remains poor and many long-term staff have since left. There is therefore less of a familiar, homely environment for dementia sufferers. Entertainment remains sporadic and my mother's self-funded supplies of incontinence products are going missing. I still feel the need to visit daily due to the lack of communication as to when she requires more supplies etc. Overall I would recommend good research and very regular visits. The purpose-built environment is a positive so I hope the current situation improves. The summer is always a difficult time as staff go on leave in the school holidays and the use of agency staff increases.

Reply from Gary Baker, Manager at Glendale

Our mother lived at Glendale as though it were her home for five years having gone there all alone after two falls straight from home via hospital during the lockdown that was so hard, particularly on every vulnerable person.
She was cared for with the utmost kindness and respect up to the very last moment of her long and rich life. Every member of staff that any of the family met was kind, informed, professional and engaging.
As a family, we could not be more appreciative of every single person who added to our mother's daily care.
Not only was our mother deeply cared for but during her last days so were we the family as we visited her. It was as though we were included in the family also. It was very moving.

Thank you to each and every one of you.

My father is in this care home. From looking around it a year ago, we knew this was the right place for him. Our priority was him receiving care, love and compassion and that is what we have experienced. They also take great care of us as relatives and we would highly recommend it. Today, we had the joy of joining my dad and the other residents, relatives and staff for a D-day event which was truly special. Thank you to the manager, another particular member of staff and all the carers.
