My mother has resided at Glendale for nearly three years, she has been very happy here - mainly die to the care and compassion shown by all staff.
The highlight of Mum's week was when there was entertainment, especially singing.
My thanks and gratitude to all, especially Sarah, Stephanie, Tracey and
Emmanuel.

My mum has been living here for a few months now, and her room is very nice and a good size and en-suite, which gives her some independence. The staff are all very friendly and helpful, always checking on mum to see if she is ok. The staff keep you up to date on everything, from mum's health and activities.
So happy with this care home.

The care given to my mother-in-law has been wonderful. She has been a resident for quite soem time, and received much help and support as one would expect from family - which is what Glendale has provided. My mother-in-law wanted for nothing. The staff have been very vigilant, caring & helpful. Thank
you all.

Review from Vivienne S (Sister of Resident) published on 31 January 2025 Submitted via Website • Report
Overall Experience 4.0 out of 5
My sister was a resident there for about 15 months. She passed away on Christmas Eve. The care was overall very good.
After she passed I noticed a lot of her clothes were missing. I was very disappointed as they were quite serviceable and could have been donated. A dart trophy was also missing which
was upsetting as it was her pride and joy. Some of the present staff, unfortunately, are not very dynamic and I feel they should be trained better in Elderly Care. A couple of male carers didn't even manage a smile or introduce themselves.
Reply from Debbie Reed, Manager at GlendaleThank you for taking the time to review Glendale and we are pleased that you rate our cleanliness as excellent. We are sorry for the loss of your sister and our apologies that our normal high standards of service have not been met. I have discussed your feedback regarding clothing and your sister's personal possessions with our housekeeping team. I have also spoken to our team about your comments and we are always happy to receive feedback to ensure our care and aspects of day to day life are to our residents' and their loved ones' satisfaction.

Overall Experience 3.0 out of 5
My mother has been living at Glendale for 3 years now and my last review was in September 2023. Much of my then comments still stand, the staff are kind and caring. However, the communication remains poor and many long-term staff have since left. There is therefore less of a familiar, homely environment
for dementia sufferers. Entertainment remains sporadic and my mother's self-funded supplies of incontinence products are going missing. I still feel the need to visit daily due to the lack of communication as to when she requires more supplies etc. Overall I would recommend good research and very regular visits. The purpose-built environment is a positive so I hope the current situation improves. The summer is always a difficult time as staff go on leave in the school holidays and the use of agency staff increases.
Reply from Gary Baker, Manager at GlendaleThank you for your review. We take all feedback and concerns very seriously at Glendale, where the well-being and safety of our residents is our priority. I am sorry to see that you are not satisfied with the care received at our home. Our internal complaints process is being followed and we will continue to keep you updated.

I am happy that my friend is being well looked after.
The home always looks efficiently run and very clean.
The residents always look as happy as can be expected.
The "crowning glory" of the home are the staff - always smiling and helpful - a credit to Anchor.

Our mother lived at Glendale as though it were her home for five years having gone there all alone after two falls straight from home via hospital during the lockdown that was so hard, particularly on every vulnerable person.
She was cared for with the utmost kindness and respect up to the very last
moment of her long and rich life. Every member of staff that any of the family met was kind, informed, professional and engaging.
As a family, we could not be more appreciative of every single person who added to our mother's daily care.
Not only was our mother deeply cared for but during her last days so were we the family as we visited her. It was as though we were included in the family also. It was very moving.
Thank you to each and every one of you.

The minute I was told Mum had been accepted into Glendale the worry stopped immediately. It was my first and only choice. I can't think of anything negative to say, from walking through the main doors, the greeting and enthusiasm of the reception to the management, team leaders, all carers, laundry
and kitchen staff.
Thank you, Glendale.

My father is in this care home. From looking around it a year ago, we knew this was the right place for him. Our priority was him receiving care, love and compassion and that is what we have experienced. They also take great care of us as relatives and we would highly recommend it. Today, we had the
joy of joining my dad and the other residents, relatives and staff for a D-day event which was truly special. Thank you to the manager, another particular member of staff and all the carers.

I would like to send a very sincere thank you to the staff who looked after my Mum. Mum was a resident from 2004 until her passing in 2023. I have nothing but praise for the care and management of the staff. The whole home is clean, tidy and the food is excellent. The staff are polite, caring, sensitive
and have empathy and sympathy for the residents and their relatives. They treat residents with respect and offer support to all. Thank you Glendale.

My mum moved to Glendale from another care home in February this year. She was looked after very well. I found all the staff very friendly and polite. Unfortunately Mum passed away on May 25th, she was 99 years old. It was a great comfort to me that I was told two members of staff were holding her hands
when she passed. I would certainly recommend Glendale.

Current Review Score: 9.5 (9.463)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.5 (9.463) out of 10 for Glendale is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 15 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 14 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.613 for Glendale is calculated as follows: ( (125 Excellents x 5) + (34 Goods x 4) + (9 Satisfactorys x 3) + (5 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 173 Ratings = 4.613
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.85 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Glendale is based on 14 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.85
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 61 registered maximum number of service users is 12.2, which has been reached with 14 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
