Glendale in Walton-On-Thames is operated by Anchor and provides residential and dementia care for up to 61 customers in homely and comfortable single ensuite rooms.

The care team ensures customers’ health and care needs are met throughout their time at Glendale through a detailed care plan which is put together with input from loved ones.

Staff receive regular training to ensure their approach to care reflects best practice and they strive to get to know customers properly and build strong relationships to provide the highest levels of care. Meals are cooked freshly on site to each residents' dietary requirements and tastes, with snacks also provided every day.

Anchor operates on a not-for-profit basis, reinvesting funds made back into its retirement properties and care homes to ensure its standards exceed customers’ expectations.

My father has been in Glendale for the last 10 months. He had lived on his own for 3 years until things got too much for him at the age of 93 with a new diagnosis of Vascular Dementia. It took him a few months to settle in and he became quite confused and angry at times. The staff were absolutely fantastic
and he is very settled now and seems to have become more of his old self. I am so relieved that he has moved to Glendale and especially at this time as I know he is completely safe and very well cared for. He loves his routine and although that has changed a little since moving in, he has a new routine which he is very comfortable with. He is a man of few needs, but routine is important to him and the staff at Glendale have responded fantastically to this. I can't praise them enough; there is absolutely no way he would be as content if he were still at home with carers or was being looked after by family.

Mother has been a resident at Glendale for about 15-years now, and during this time, she has been happy and well cared for. She has a lovely room with lots of her belongings and is encouraged to be as independent as possible with help close at hand if needed. The staff are very helpful and approachable,
and I am always made welcome to speak with them. I am always contacted immediately when there is any reason for concern or other important issues. Over the last few months, all of the staff have worked so hard to make sure the residents are as safe as possible. There is always a choice for meals, and residents dietary needs are met. When I am away, I can relax knowing that Mother is happy and well cared for.

My 98-year-old mother has been a resident of Glendale for the past 8-years. She suffers from Parkinson's disease but is sound in mind. In that time, she has received care that has been second to none - so much so, that she regards the carers and staff part of her family! She has always been looked after
with kindness and sensitivity for which we have been particularly grateful during this difficult time when family members have been unable to visit. The staff have gone over and above the call of duty to make sure our mother is happy and comfortable. They have also kept me, my sisters and brother, up to date with any health issues or concerns they may have about our mother and acted quickly to remedy the situation. I would have no hesitation in recommending Glendale care home.

My mother has settled into Glendale very well, and that is all to do with the care and compassion in the day to day living at Glendale. The layout is based on small units that feel more family orientated than a care home. My mother tells me how lovely the staff are and how happy she is there, and that
is the most important thing. During Covid-19 I have not been allowed to visit, but there have been daily video calls which mean that my mother remains safe, and we are still connected.

My mum has been in Glendale six months now and has had excellent care throughout. Staff extremely helpful when I ring for updates, and I always receive a happy, warm, welcome when visiting. Mum gets plenty of attention and enjoys herself there. Highly recommend, I cannot fault it.

Glendale is like home from home for my mum, and the whole team is one big family. The standard of care my mum receives is excellent. She is never in her room and enjoys the daily activities. Glendale is always clean and well maintained. Food options are great, and the staff and management are so caring.

My step mum had been struggling at home but would not accept help, other than relatives doing shopping.
She was not taking care of herself ie regular visits to GP, her legs are ulcerated, medication was hot and miss. Following a visit from us, ie taken to a GP, where an ambulance was called she ended
up in hospital.
She has been at Glendale for a couple of months. She is well fed, respected, engaged in activities. Staff are kind, alert to her needs. We feel we can ask anything. We feel she is safe which is a big relief.

I am so lucky in having my wife in a very nice care home so nearby, where I may visit her often. It takes a lot of worry from myself, knowing my wife is being well cared for. Thanks to all the staff. No matter what my wife needs, the carers seem only too pleased to help her.

Overall the standards of care and expertise, help and support are very good.


The friendliness and welcome of staff at Glendale are very good and the attention given to the basic needs of my father is very good. The activities provided are varied and interesting and enable families and residents to

enjoy time together. We have only had concerns about small losses of items which have mostly been resolved. With thanks.

Overall, Glendale is a good care provider. Most staff are caring and considerate and very kind to my husband. We appreciate it when they make conversation with him as we now this helps him feel valued.
Sometimes we think more 1-1 time would help - like having befrienders who come in to help reminisce.
Activities are great and the coordinators work hard. My husband's personal care is generally OK - but sometimes I think his nails are unclean. The food is sometimes less than average.

Thank you for meeting with me to discuss your feedback and confirming that you are very happy with Glendale. We discussed the meals, and we both agreed that even though your husband does not like or want soft meats this is what the SALT team have stated for his safety as he struggles to swallow hard foods. In regards to nail care, the nails are trimmed but do need to be cleaned also, this I will pick up with the staff team on the unit. Please be assured that we endeavor to ensure every aspect of our home is of a high standard and aim to rectify any issues as soon as possible.
