Greathed Manor is a Grade II listed stately manor with 5 acres of beautiful landscaped gardens that provide an idyllic environment for nursing residents. The home is situated in Dormansland on the borders of Surrey, Kent and West Sussex.

The Manor’s history can be traced back to 1816, but it was only between the world wars that that the estate came to prominence. It was at this time that the Royal family, including the then Princess Elizabeth, would come to stay at Greathed, joining for tennis parties and picnics.

In 2008, the Home was adapted to provide luxurious accommodation for elderly nursing clients. Many of the bedrooms are mini-suites, and provide unrivalled views of the countryside. All rooms are decorated to a high standard and have their own showers, freeview televisions and private phones. There is a choice of three lounges and a dining room, as well as many other facilities such as hairdressing salon.

Greathed Manor employs a highly qualified, experienced and dedicated team of staff who work closely with residents to ensure a continuously high standard of person-centred care. The focus is on individual needs with an emphasis on choice. Additionally, residents have access to visiting physiotherapists, chiropodists and yoga practitioners.

Dad was at Greathed Manor for over 3 months and the care he received was both professional and caring. The whole team of staff were brilliant, kind and supportive to Dad and all the family who visited him often. The home was very well managed, the food was very tasty and available for visitors when
needed and the nursing and care staff were all very patient and supportive. The building itself is magnificent and yet homely and is located in beautiful grounds and surrounding countryside. It was always such a welcoming and friendly place with plenty of activities and parties for those who wished to join in - including residents families and friends. I would highly recommend it.

After a serious accident, my friend spent several weeks at Greathed Manor for recovery, and the experience was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment he arrived, the staff went above and beyond to ensure his comfort and well-being. The level of care provided was first-class, with every member
of the team demonstrating professionalism, kindness, and genuine concern for my friend's recovery.
The staff were attentive and compassionate, making sure all his needs were met promptly and with a smile. The environment is both serene and supportive, which played a significant role in aiding my friend's healing process.
Greathed Manor offers not just a place to recover, but a community that genuinely cares about the well-being of its residents. I can't thank the staff enough for their dedication and the outstanding service they provided during such a challenging time. My friend left feeling stronger, healthier, and deeply appreciative of the wonderful care he received.

My sister and I would like to thank the amazing staff for looking after our mum so well during her short stay with you. The home is set in beautiful grounds with a lovely spacious room.
Above all and very importantly the care she received was impeccable. We were greeted by warm caring staff who couldn't
do enough for our mum. They were always willing to answer all of our questions and understood our anxieties about all aspects of her care. The staff were courteous and so caring.
Thank you so much.

My mum's currently staying at Greathed Manor, and I can't put into words, the peace of mind and reassurance it's given my sister, brother and I. We don't feel we could have found a more perfect or suitable residential care home for our mum; they were so welcoming the moment we stepped through the front
door; the management and every member of staff alike, are friendly (yet professional), kind-hearted, caring, respectful, hard-working, cheerful and dedicated to their residents and profession. In addition, my mum's enjoying the meals, regular activities, entertainment, the company of others, and garden (which her bedroom has a beautiful view of.) The staff are kindness personified, so, you can be rest assured, if your family member stays there. The well-kept, clean, beautiful manor house, gardens and country surroundings are so peaceful, tranquil and scenic, it's the icing on the cake. Thank you to the entire team of staff, for all you're doing for our mum; we are gratefully appreciative of it.

I joined the lovely hard-working staff and management of this amazing care home on fourth of January. I had the happiest time there, the staff were absolutely wonderful. My room was a comfortable size, nicely furnished, with its own private ensuite, and a huge window with a lovely view of the countryside.
The dining room view of the garden was so relaxing. The food was very good too, and served with a smile every time. The management and staff were so kind, friendly and hard-working. It definitely felt like they were my family. It was so sad to leave, I miss them all.

Friendly staff who made Mum feel welcomed and at home instantly on arrival. The rehabilitation stay was longer than expected and the staff always made the family feel welcomed on our regular, daily visits. They were proactive in helping Mum gain strength and mobility and always responded to our questions
and requests with interest. During the stay, there was a range of regular, interesting and enjoyable activities that both the residents and their families could participate in if they wished.
Thank you to all the staff.

My husband lives at Greathed, I can't even begin to express how happy I am with it. The moment you step in, you're greeted with an atmosphere that just feels right. It's always so tidy and neat, you can tell the staff takes great care of the place. The staff there are simply amazing! They go above and

Mum joined Greathed Manor in September 2023 following a pretty long stay in hospital and from day one, the care she received was excellent. Every member of staff treated Mum with care, were professional, friendly and extremely respectful of Mum, nothing was too much for them, even on the days that Mum
was a bit of a challenge. Mum required 1:1 care and this was never a problem for the staff. Any questions asked by any of our family were always answered straight away.
I am so very grateful that in Mum's last few days she was treated with respect and dignity.

My mum was transferred here following an operation in November - she was there for 8 weeks. During this time my mum received the best care that any daughter would want for their mum. Every member of staff was kind, caring, professional, friendly and respectful of my mum. They were truly an amazing team
and nothing was too much for them. I know my mum has said that she could not have wished for a better group of carers. Thank you all.

My dad is in Greathed Manor at the moment, after being in hospital for nearly three months, and love being in there. We've been to visit may times, both with his little dog and my grandchildren, his great grandchildren, and the staff are lovely and everyone knows my dad's name and let me know if anything
is wrong or if they need to ask a question. I'm hoping he can stay there, he is on four week stay at the moment.

I visited the open day at Greathed Manor on Saturday 15th July. I was thoroughly amazed at the great, happy atmosphere from both residents and their families. It was obvious that a great deal of planning and thought had gone into making the day so successful. The residents all enjoyed themselves, many
congratulations to the staff who had worked so tirelessly to make such a great day. Well done everyone.

My mother was discharged from hospital to Greathed Manor Care Home to continue her convalescence care and was there for nine weeks. I would like to thank the manager and her wonderful team for looking after my mother so well and giving her the care and attention she needed.
There was such a relaxed,
friendly atmosphere whenever we visited and we were made to feel so welcome. The activity coordinators were brilliant in engaging the residents with various activities. I watched the residents make Easter decorations, Coronation decorations and celebrations, planting bedding flowers in planters, music sessions and gentle exercise sessions. All the care team were wonderful and gave undivided attention to each resident and there was a high standard of cleanliness. The catering team were fantastic too.
If I ever needed to call Greathed Manor to check on my mother, I always felt reassured that she was getting the best care.
Once again, my thanks to everyone at Greathed Manor.

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.945)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.945) out of 10 for Greathed Manor is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 31 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 31 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.945 for Greathed Manor is calculated as follows: ( (346 Excellents x 5) + (16 Goods x 4) + (1 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 363 Ratings = 4.945
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Greathed Manor is based on 31 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 40 registered maximum number of service users is 8, which has been reached with 31 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
