Greathed Manor is a Grade II listed stately manor with 5 acres of beautiful landscaped gardens that provide an idyllic environment for nursing residents. The home is situated in Dormansland on the borders of Surrey, Kent and West Sussex.

The Manor’s history can be traced back to 1816, but it was only between the world wars that that the estate came to prominence. It was at this time that the Royal family, including the then Princess Elizabeth, would come to stay at Greathed, joining for tennis parties and picnics.

In 2008, the Home was adapted to provide luxurious accommodation for elderly nursing clients. Many of the bedrooms are mini-suites, and provide unrivalled views of the countryside. All rooms are decorated to a high standard and have their own showers, freeview televisions and private phones. There is a choice of three lounges and a dining room, as well as many other facilities such as hairdressing salon.

Greathed Manor employs a highly qualified, experienced and dedicated team of staff who work closely with residents to ensure a continuously high standard of person-centred care. The focus is on individual needs with an emphasis on choice. Additionally, residents have access to visiting physiotherapists, chiropodists and yoga practitioners.

My mother was placed in Greathed in February whilst in lockdown as I could not care for her at home due to lack of staff because of Covid. From the moment she arrived the staff went above and beyond. Always ready with a smile and to talk to her. The catering staff were amazing. My mother was refusing
to eat so the head cook came to speak with her to see what he could prepare to entice her appetite. The rooms are spacious and very clean. The management and all staff are always on hand and available to speak to. I was unable to visit because of Covid but they video WhatsApp me nearly every day. Unfortunately my mother died in March whilst at the home. It was late at night but the night staff were incredible. Very caring right to the end. Mum was really happy there the last few weeks of her life and I can't thank you all enough.

The home is outstanding in every way, I can't fault it. The staff are especially good, and nothing is too much trouble for them. We feel ourselves fortunate that our mother is a resident in such a lovely home. The home is also lucky in having such an excellent cook.
Reply from Sharad Saraogi, Director at Greathed ManorThank you for your feedback. Your words mean so much to our staff, who have been heroic in these very difficult times.

The kindness and care of mum has been exemplary. Without exception, each and every carer goes that extra mile. A wave, a hug, a kiss on the cheek, a cheerful 'hello'. Mum's room is beautifully maintained and everywhere smells clean and fresh. The manager is always on hand to answer any query or worry
and you are never ever made to feel a nuisance. All in all, wonderful.

The staff are always polite and freindly. This had helped so much with my Nan settling in as she is a new resident. There are always appropriate activities taking place, which keeps my Nan busy. The care staff have made both my nan and our family feel so welcome, and nothing is ever too much trouble.

During the Covid pandemic, I have found since the first meeting called on 16th March, that care at Greathed has been well organised and well carried out. From our first call to reception, the staff have gone out of their way to accommodate our family in the request for visits, telephone and zoom calls
and when birthdays etc have occurred they have gone out of their way to make it as special an occasion as possible in their very difficult circumstances. They have always remained cheerful and polite.

I love everything about this nursing home. When we first came to view, I knew this was the one, and it hasn't disappointed, my mum's room, the staff, the facilities, catering and entertainment, I could go on and on and on. Everyone works really hard to make sure all residents and family are happy. Best
decision we made bringing Mum here.

With a very few exceptions mum has been treated with great care and dignity and any concerns listened to and acted upon. It has been a wonderful and welcoming home and proved its worth during the coronavirus pandemic when the early decision to "lockdown" saved many lives I am sure.

My husband has only been in this nursing home since 7th October (having come from 3 years and 9 months in another care home). This is a lovely home and lives up to the 'good' ratings in all areas given. It has the potential for being excellent in all aspects of the care here. There perhaps needs to
be a desire in all staff to raise their standard to the very best of their ability. Already there are several outstanding carers and two of the management/leader team likewise. (As in both homes, I have been mostly a daily visitor, I have much time for communication and observation).

My mum has changed to Greathed Manor due to a closure of her previous home. The change in my mum in only a few weeks is huge for us. She has started to talk to say 'good morning' etc, is smiling, she seems much more relaxed and happy.
She is always dressed beautifully with her jewellery on, hair done,
some makeup.
Her eyes have been tested and hearing all in a week. Her care is exceptional, all staff are fabulous. I'm booking myself in if I could for some TLC!

I can't tell you how nice my experience has been visiting my friend. All the staff I have met have been kind, friendly and caring. Not once have I not had a smile from anyone. I can only thank everyone for dealing with difficult situations with compassion. Nothing seems too much trouble. Also, the building
is beautiful and doesn't feel clinical but homely. Thank you all.

Dad was at Greathed Manor for 18 months. It was his decision to give up independent living and after research opted for Greathed Manor. Dad and the family were welcomed at any and every time we visited. Problems were resolved easily and all decisions were made for the benefit of the residents. Involved
and strong management cascaded through the operation with encouragement to staff to add to skills for the benefit of all. Dad died at Greathed manor with dignity and love.

My relative was very settled and happy at Greathed from the minute she arrived. The staff care greatly about every resident and take the time to get to know them. In the latter days, they managed to raise a smile from her, even though I couldn't. She loved them all dearly and it was clear how well they
looked after her and how fond they were of her. The staff go above and beyond, both for the residents and their family. It is also a wonderful setting - absolutely beautiful, and rooms are spacious. There's also great food and entertainment for those residents who wish to join in. I can't speak any more highly!

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.945)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.945) out of 10 for Greathed Manor is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 31 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 31 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.945 for Greathed Manor is calculated as follows: ( (346 Excellents x 5) + (16 Goods x 4) + (1 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 363 Ratings = 4.945
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Greathed Manor is based on 31 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 40 registered maximum number of service users is 8, which has been reached with 31 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
