My mother has been in this home since the end of April 2017. My mother was in poor health when entering but now looks very well. She is also well kept, her hair is always clean and tidy.
My only issue all but trivial would be that her clothes, shoes etc.. Were kept to her only, she is often in other peoples clothes and slippers but I am well aware this is a hard thing to keep an eye on.

I am very happy with her overall care.

Thank you very much for your review, and I’m particularly happy to hear that your mother’s health has improved greatly since she’s lived at Kingsleigh. In regards to clothing, I understand that when your mother joined us she did not have any labels on her clothes, which our laundry team do need for...

My mum moved into Kingsleigh care home over a year ago and I have been consistently extremely happy with the care provided. Care is kind and cheerful. The home is always open for me to visit, I do not need to make an appointment. Staff welcome me and update me on my mum. Visitors are welcomed. I love the way staff bring coffee and biscuits for visitors. There is a fantastic atmosphere at this home from top management through carers and all staff. Everyone was especially helpful when mum needed to go for an operation and everyone was thrilled it was successful. I am moving away but I don't want to move mum as the care is so good. I would rather travel to see her.

The staff are always cheerful and helpful, the managers knowledgeable and professional. Mum seems very happy with her environment even though her dementia prevents her from remembering much about what has gone on.
The recent help we received in preparing her for a surgical procedure early in the morning was instrumental in making a success of the whole venture - we could never have got it done without the perseverance of the staff in making sure she was up, dressed and medicated in time.
Knowing how awkward mum can be I sometimes cannot understand how the carers keep their cheerful composure, but somehow they do. They are all truly special people.

Thank you to all of you.

Mum came to live at Kingsleigh after an extended stay in hospital where she was very unsettled and crying all the time. We were very worried she wouldn't settle however with the support of the staff she has settled in amazingly well. The staff are like friends and are all very kind and attentive. Mum has had a few infections since she has been there but the staff always keep me updated on any GP's visits etc. Mum is also prone to falls so they have put a sensor mat by her bed so that if she gets up in the night the staff know and go to her. Mum is also eating better and has even put on weight since being there. Looking at the way they deal with the residents it is clear to see they all love their job and are happy working at Kingsleigh. We honestly could not have wished for mum to be in a nicer home and feel blessed that she is happy and safe. We visit twice a week and are always made extremely welcome and offered tea/coffee. I would highly recommend Kingsleigh!

My friend / former neighbour has been in Kingsleigh for about 4 months. At first I was worried that he wouldn't settle in, but the staff have been so helpful and patient towards him that he seems really happy now.

He's quite active, and I like the fact that there's lots of space for him to wander around (and drink endless cups of tea!) He also gets a daily newspaper.

I try to visit him once a week, often on different days / times and always enjoy the friendly welcome and relaxed atmosphere.

Kingsleigh is definitely a home I would not hesitate to recommend.

My father was badly treated at his last home, and we were recommended to Kingsleigh. He has been here for over a year, and I cannot fault the level of care he receives from the manager of the home, the office staff, and the carers, they work together as a team to keep the residents cared for, happy and relaxed. I would strongly recommended this home to anyone he is happy and loved her, which makes me happy and blessed.

The home has a lovely feel about it. Residents are free to wander around if they want to. You often see a resident sitting in the office having a chat to the managers! The activities provided occupy the residents in the afternoons. Every resident is able to have a degree of independence in things like waking up, bed times and eating. They all eat together at the table which is lovely and sociable but also if they decide to have a lay in, there is always food available later on.

Mum has become more relaxed since being at Kingsleigh and is really well looked after with regular visits from the district nurse.

Meet the Team (1)

Kelly Kelleher
Kelly KelleherJob Title:Home Manager

I started my career as a care assistant and moved my way up the ranks. I joined Care UK in 2006 and was the deputy manager at Broadwater Lodge, another Care UK home, for seven years before moving to Kingsleigh.

I would describe myself as a people person with a passion for helping others. One of my favourite parts of the day is when everyone stops for ‘tea at 3’. It’s a chance to catch our breath after the busiest part of the day, and it gives us the opportunity to have some quality conversation time with residents.

I’ve been supported by other home managers to progress in my career, and I believe in doing the same now I’m at that level. Being able to help and develop colleagues is a great feeling, as is empowering them to make a difference in residents’ lives.
