My mother-in-law has been at Oakleigh for six months now, she was moved from a previous care home and we were worried how she would settle.
The staff are so friendly and caring, they made her feel so welcome, she is so happy and well looked after, we are delighted.
During Coronavirus, the staff have
been regularly keeping in touch with us and arranged Facetime chats with Mum (who is 93) who thinks it is wonderful.
A very big thank you to everyone.

My dad came in for respite. He's been here for 3 months. The staff are totally caring and considerate and very accommodating. We looked at loads of homes before choosing Oakleigh. It was better than all the others, in every aspect.
He will now be staying permanently.

My mother lives at Oakleigh care home, she has a great group of care staff that look after her and an excellent carer that’s her nominated Keyworker! This system in place has been great for my mother and for the family, there’s such a strong network of staff that understand each of their roles to ensure
you get the best care and the right answers!
A big worry when my mother got dementia was what if she needs full time care and goes in a home, but once we picked Oakleigh, all the worries went away! I couldn’t be happier and my mother seems happy, she has new friends and enjoys being social and busy each day!

My father moved into Oakleigh in February 2019 he was so depressed before the move in. The staff and management were so kind, friendly and supportive. They spent so much time getting to know him, his likes and dislikes and lifted his spirits. My dad is so much happier, he is allowing staff to support
with care and not neglecting himself. I couldn’t be happier with the service! Thank you Oakleigh staff.

From the moment I picked this home for my aunt, everything ran so smoothly, from the fabulous show around I received, warm welcome front of house to the assessment and smooth transaction of my aunt moving in. I must say it’s so refreshing to see such a lovely young group of staff, everyone is so happy
and friendly my aunt will be forever happy in her home here. Thank you, Oakleigh you have made a hard decision for me feel like the best decision I have made.

My Mum has been at Oakleigh for a year. She is so well cared for in every way and we are so pleased and relieved with the care and service provided. It is a happy and relaxed environment and all the staff we have encountered have been caring and professional. It is as if a cloud has been lifted from
our family, knowing she is safe and well cared for.

My mother has been a resident at Oakleigh for 6 1/2 years and in all that time she has had excellent facilities and staff looking after her. My wife and I have visited without prior notice many times and have always found her well dressed, her room and wardrobe neat and tidy and clean and if at mealtimes,
the dining room pleasantly arranged and food well produced. The staff have always been very welcoming to us and treat my mother as if she were their own. I can only say thank you to them all and its so reassuring because we live so far away.

All the staff at Oakleigh are very kind, courteous and extremely professional. How they do what they do and remain so cheerful is a mystery to me. I am not easily pleased by people in life, but Oakleigh staff have been brilliant. I feel much better knowing my parents are getting 24-hour care. They are
much safer and healthier than they were when they were living in their own home. Thank you, Oakleigh.

I went into Oakleigh. I'm respite - self funded. I had a shock, never been into Oakleigh before. I had 3 lovely weeks with them all. Lovely staff, food etc. Was treated with such respect and felt as if I had found some friends. I am 90 years old. I want to go back as a resident but unfortunately, at
the moment, unable to afford it, which is a shame.
I came out feeling a lot better health-wise and also trying to understand other problems.

The staff try hard to meet needs of residents, maintain a cheerful outlook and are welcoming to visitors.
Recruitment in this field is not easy and the home struggle to keep a full staff compliment. The service can sometimes feel stretched.
Standard of cleaning is good and food is reasonable.
My
mum is happy there and staff genuinely seem to value her.
Reply from Tabitha Harrison-Lyons, Manager at OakleighThank you for taking the time to review Oakleigh and we are pleased that your mum is happy living with us. We use a dependency tool to calculate staffing requirements and ensure that we have the required staff to meet our resident's requirements at all times. Following a recent relative’s meeting, we are currently reviewing our activities programme to ensure that this suits our resident’s preferences and interests.

My dad is now in his early nineties and, until a recent hospital stay, was totally independent. Sadly, he could not return home, but his move into Oakleigh was made very easy for him due to the friendly staff and the bright and homely accommodation. He has settled in very well and enjoys the food. This
all adds up to great peace of mind for his family. The home always seems to be well run and safety conscious.

The staff at the home are very friendly and welcoming. The new manager has been appointed and was already the deputy manager so there is continuity which I am very pleased about. All the residents seem happy and contented and my father is very settled there now.

My mother is 95 and has been resident at Oakley for 3 1/2 years. We chose Oakley as it was near her home of 6 generations that we had to sell for her care. It was homely and the staff warm. We have no complaints concerning her care. She is wheelchair bound and incontinent which must cause her carers
extra work. They are respectful and helpful. In particular, a gentleman who was her main carer was outstanding. Our visits are always welcomed and staff open to discussion re my mum. We are always informed and even minor incidents regarding her care and our minds put at ease. Sadly we didn't get our usual invite to the Christmas bash which we have always enjoyed. She loves her painting class.

I would like to say how my mother in law enjoyed her stay for the week she was with Oakleigh. I stayed for respite, it was my first time in a care home and was very anxious. The staff put me at ease and made my stay enjoyable.
I felt the staff needed more training on how to support someone who is physically disabled. The food could be improved as it was lukewarm. The staff were very helpful.
Reply from Lukasz Bogusz, Home Manager at OakleighThank you for taking the time to provide a review for Oakleigh, we are glad that the staff made your stay enjoyable. We have shared your comments about support for people with physical disabilities, with the coaches providing training in this area, and also have held additional training in the home last week, which should improve our service when it comes to meal times.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.827)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.827) out of 10 for Oakleigh is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 22 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 21 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.827 for Oakleigh is calculated as follows: ( (231 Excellents x 5) + (17 Goods x 4) + (8 Satisfactorys x 3) + (4 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 260 Ratings = 4.827
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Oakleigh is based on 21 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 51 registered maximum number of service users is 10.2, which has been reached with 21 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
