In every one of their homes and schemes they express God’s love through compassion and care that helps people live life to the full - fulfilled living.
Shottermill House has an active social life in which residents can take part or follow their own pursuits. They appreciate that each resident has their own individual interests, hobbies and pastimes, and they endeavour to support residents to maintain this important part of their lives. Residents are encouraged to lead the lifestyle that they choose, doing as much or as little as they want - residents can simply choose to put their feet up with a daily paper (by arrangement) or a good book from the home’s own collection.
Their weekly programme includes activities such as board game and knitting groups, various craft creations including card making, flower arranging and items made for seasonal sales. The home benefits from visits by local choirs, entertainers, school and pre-school pupils and periodically has a Farm Day with visiting animals. A hairdresser visits once a week. There is a weekly coffee morning where many friends and relatives meet. A team of “Friends of Shottermill” support and befriend residents by coming to see them on a regular basis.
Spiritual life within the home is very important. At Shottermill House they try to create a community where Christian worship, prayer and support are a core part of daily life. They have daily devotions, Sunday and mid-week services, and a monthly communion service. These are led by staff, residents and volunteers from the local churches. There are a number of churches of various denominations within easy reach of the home

They have activities every day and the residents are always happy to participate.
My family could not have chosen a better home for our mother’s twilight years.
I cannot thank them enough for looking after our mother with such love and care.

Shottermill House has looked after my Mother extremely well for the last four years. She has been treated with patience, respect and love. The Christian ethics permeate the place and Mother feels that she is among friends. The residents are fed well and despite the lockdown, the staff work hard to keep them entertained. I feel that my Mother is in the best place that she can be, she is living well despite her dementia.

- Good - The service is performing well and meeting our expectations.
- Requires Improvement - The service isn't performing as well as it should and we have told the service how it must improve.

Deborah started working at Shottermill House in August 2021. She returned to the UK at the end of 2020 as she and her husband felt it was the right time to move back to help their family, having lived in Belgium for 20 years. Deborah worked in metalwork, and administration and finally ran a childcare facility.
