My "mum" has had the best possible care over the last 2 years she was at Springkell. She was always treated with dignity, compassion and superb care. We were always welcome to visit at any time and always found the atmosphere brilliant. The staff were caring and treated everyone with dignity, compassion
and sometimes a much needed sense of humour. Pets were welcome too. The last couple of months my "mum" was bedridden and by the doctors advice and my consent she was treated with palliative care. Her care at the end of a long and happy life was impeccably provided by all at Springkell - she died peacefully and with dignity for which I thank everyone at Springkell, but special thanks to the manager and carers. Thank you all.

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.907) out of 10 for Springkell House Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 20 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 20 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.907 for Springkell House Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (215 Excellents x 5) + (20 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 236 Ratings = 4.907
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Springkell House Care Home is based on 20 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 35 registered maximum number of service users is 7, which has been reached with 20 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

I began my professional catering career as an Army chef, I then worked in restaurants before coming to Springkell House in 2004. The management team and Beritaz Care are forward-thinking and encourage you to develop your skills and knowledge. I have achieved NVQ 2 in catering, NVQ 3 in Hospitality and in 202 I achieved Diploma 4 in Hospitality Management. I have overall responsibility for managing the kitchen.

I take real pride in the food we serve at Springkell House, ensuring that it is good quality, healthy and appetising. Spending time with the residents, creating menus and seeing clean plates at the end of mealtimes is very rewarding for me.

A highlight of my career and my proudest moment was being nominated as a finalist for Chef of the Year at Surrey Care Association's 2019 Care Awards. In 2019, we also started a luncheon club for Hindhead’s local community, the response and the feedback from has been brilliant

I have worked within the care industry for more than eighteen years, thirteen of which I have spent at Beritaz Care. My whole family worked in the care industry so it has always been what I wanted to do, I am glad to have been able to follow in their footsteps.

My role at the home involves caring for and supporting our residents however they need. I oversee the staff on the floor, making sure correct procedures are being followed and offering my help when needed. I really enjoy caring for the residents and spending time talking to them. Working at Springkell House is made even better by the great team I have around me, we work very well together and everyone gets on.

The training offered by Beritaz is brilliant, my biggest achievement since being with the company is gaining my NVQ level 3, and I am now working towards my level 4 qualification. I wouldn’t be in the position I am in now without the training and support of Beritaz Care as an employer.

Job Title: Home Administrator

I have not always worked in care, prior to moving to England from my home country Slovakia I was a dress designer and worked in retail becoming a manager of a shop before taking time out to have my children.

My husband Jogi started working at Springkell House, and meeting his colleagues encouraged me to join the Springkell House team. I first started working as one of the domestic team and helping out in the kitchen. I’m now the activities coordinator which has allowed me to utilise my creative skills and have more contact with the residents which I enjoy very much. With the support of the manager, I successfully achieved a Diploma in activities.

I feel I have grown as a person and in confidence since working at Springkell House but most of all I am rewarded every day by seeing the residents happy and engaged in the activities we put in place.

I joined the team at Springkell House in February 2023, my journey at the home so far can only be described as great. I was sponsored to come to the UK to work, transitioning from my country was a difficult decision but one I am glad I made. When I arrived at Springkell House I was greeted by an amazing team and made to feel comfortable straight away. I immediately felt at home in such a warm and welcoming atmosphere.

Working with the rest of the team has been wonderful. Even though we are all from different cultural backgrounds, we accept each other and work in unity. I have always wanted to help others and do something that makes a positive difference in people’s lives, so a career in the care industry was the perfect fit for me. I have been working as a Care Assistant at Springkell House since the spring of 2023, I love being able to work so closely with the residents and feel like I am helping to make their day a little bit brighter.

Before coming to Springkell House I worked as a domiciliary carer, helping elderly people within their own homes. While I found this work very rewarding, I struggled with the constant travel. I wanted to find somewhere I could come to every day and feel part of a team, while still knowing what I do is having a positive impact.

I really enjoy helping the residents at Springkell House, my job involves looking out for not just their physical but also mental health. Having a good team around me makes a big difference, we get on really well and work together as a team. I am happy I get to do a job I enjoy.

Before joining Springkell House in 2023, I had built a strong foundation of caregiving experience through spending several years working in the healthcare sector. I had worked in both residential and domiciliary care settings, where I was able to develop skills in personal care, medication administration and emotional support. My passion for helping others and creating a safe, comforting environment for the elderly led me to pursue a role as a Care Assistant at Springkell House.

I want to work in the care industry because I have a genuine passion for helping people, especially those who are vulnerable or in need of support. Being a carer allows me to make a real difference in someone's daily life—whether that’s through offering companionship, assisting with personal care, or simply being there to listen. I find it incredibly rewarding to know that my work can bring comfort, dignity, and a better quality of life to others.

What I enjoy most about working at Springkell House is the strong sense of teamwork—everyone pulls together to provide the best care and support for the residents. I have been working at Springkell House Care Home as a Domestic and Kitchen Assistant since October 2023.

Before joining Springkell House, I worked in an Italian restaurant as a kitchen assistant and assistant chef in London.

I always love to help people, everyone around me knows that I am one of the first people to volunteer to help someone when it is needed.
